Takes a while to get everything you need from the local ISPs, but once it’s running, it’s great. Very easy to set up and meshes seamlessly. I’m currently running 2 in a 1800sqft villa across two floors and it’s handling it fine. I’ll probably add the third just for the heck of it. All my smart devices are running fine too.

I loved how easy the setup was. I didn’t really do much and adding a device was a simple as plugging it in. Each device found the main router and configured itself. My house has complete coverage and I even have a device in the window of my barn workroom. The app is nice and simple. Mainly I check the network optimization occasionally. So far all is good. I will be trying different things as the system evolves. But, no significant issues yet.

Great "easy" WiFi 6 routers
26 February 2022

This is a great "light touch" mesh router system. Previously, I was relying on a TP-Link Archer C5400 which is an absolute monster, but after ~5 years of use, it appeared that TP-Link had stopped supporting it with firmware updates. I purchased and tested an Asus mesh system as well as several WiFi 6 (AX) routers and couldn't find a good solution until now. These 2 little routers cover my 2 story house from edge to edge and I'm able to get my full bandwidth (700/200) in reasonable locations. The setup is a breeze and I would be confident that 90% of the population could get these up and running with just a smart phone. With the newest firmware (1.5.1) I'm able to disable UPNP and leverage some other security and performance features that were previously unavailable. ... MoreThis is a great "light touch" mesh router system. I'm also happy to see that TP-Link appears to be updating the firmware for these at a more regular pace.Currently, my 2 routers are supporting about 20 devices including a printer, 3 Rokus, 2 "WFH" set ups, and phones. I have yet to run into performance issues or "reboot" concerns which has been amazing. While this setup does not support more advanced functionality such as VPNs or lower-level WiFi configurations, for what it is and the price, it appears to be a rock-solid set up for the majority of homes. If you have a gigabit+ fiber connection or require a specific home networking setup, you should definitely look elsewhere, this system is geared towards simplicity and ease of use.

Mesh Wi-Fi for the whole house

Setting the device up is very fast and easy. The first thing to do is install the Deco app from the App Store or Google Play. Then power up the device and follow the instructions on the screen. One thing that is a little inconvenient is the fact that you need to create a TP-Link account to setup and operate the Deco X60. Connecting the additional Deco routers couldn’t be easier. You just power them on, and they automatically connect with the first/master router.Mesh means that all your routers connect with each other, forming a mesh of coverage rather than having one router that acts as a single point of connection. Your wireless device will always connect automatically to the mesh router that provides the strongest signal. This is called Roaming. Much like in telecom/mobile networks, your Wi-Fi devices might change positions and move around your house. This means that the wireless signal between your device and the router gets weaker with distance. With the Deco mesh routers your device will automatically connect to a different Deco unit that offers a stronger signal, without interrupting the running service and streams. This not only increases the coverage vastly, but also offers seamless handovers and transitions of Wi-Fi services as you change your position in your house. In other words, you get Wi-Fi Roaming capabilities that will vastly improve the reliability of your wireless connection. It’s worth mentioning that the Deco X60 is compatible with all other Deco products from TP-Link. You can expand the mesh Wi-Fi coverage at any moment by connecting a Deco device to your home network. The X60 comes with Wi-Fi 6 technology, with up to 3 Gbps bandwidth. This capability, with its high speed and low latency, promises not only ultra fast download speeds but also glitch free Ultra HD streaming and lag free gaming, provided that your Internet connection can support such quality as well. Bells and whistles such as OFDMA (simultaneous transmission to different devices within the same transmission window) and MU-MIMO (ability to communicate with multiple devices using a separate stream for each) are of course there with Wi-Fi 6.So far I have no complains regarding the X60’s performance. The Wi-Fi is very quick and outperforms my internet connection. I haven’t noticed any issues with latency either. One remark I want to make here is that, even though older WiFi cards will still be able to connect and operate with the X60, you will need a Wi-Fi 6 compatible wireless card to make the most out of the Deco mesh system. Making the most out of it doesn’t mean that you will experience speeds close to 3 Gbps. These speeds are a theoretical maximum, they are achieved in the lab and they are impossible to see in the average home network setup. You will see, though, very high speeds depending on the quality of your wireless adapter (in my tests, I used the TP-Link WiFi 6 AX3000 PCIe WiFi Card), the distance from the router and the obstacles that separate you from it. Bottom line: it’ll be fast, but be realistic with your expectations.Regarding the amount of supported devices, the Deco X60 can serve up to 150 connected devices at the same time. Even though I don’t have 150 devices at my disposal, I can confirm that the X60 does’t sweat at all with my 35 connected devices.Through the smartphone app, you can monitor the network usage of these devices real time. Moreover, in an effort for some easy Quality of Service, you can prioritize any of these devices in terms of network resources with the toggle of a switch. This feature is a wink to power users who would like to prioritize bandwidth/latency sensitive applications. On the back of the X60 you will find two Gigabit Ethernet ports and, of course, the power connector. The Deco X60 is mostly operated via the smartphone Deco app. All the monitoring and configuration that you need or may do happens through your smartphone. You do get access to it through your computer’s browser, but it’s mostly for viewing rather than managing. Since this is purely related to software, I do hope that TP-Link will reconsider and give us a future firmware update with full browser GUI functionality.TP-Link has equipped the Deco X60 with what the company calls Homecare. That is a bundle of security and performance management features that serve to improve the user experience under the hood. It consists of a set of antivirus filters (Malicious Content, Intrusion Prevention and Infected Device Quarantine) using Trend Micro’s threats database, Parental Control and Quality of Service (QoS). Though the first two are self explanatory, the latter surprised me by the functionalities it brings. You can set the X 60 to prioritize a type of traffic profile over others. For example, if your home users make heavy use of streaming services, you can set the X60 to prioritize Streaming. If you need to prioritize a specific device (for example, prioritize your work computer so that it doesn’t

Setup Was A Total Breeze

I've had my eye on a Deco wifi mesh system for a while and finally decided to go for it recently. It was incredibly easy to set up - so much so that when I was finished, I was almost disappointed. "That's it? I don't have to curse & throw things? Wow. OK!" There are so many things I love about this Deco, one of which is that I can look at the app on my phone and see at a glance exactly what devices are connected to the internet at any given moment. Great for keeping tabs on the kid who is actually streaming a movie on his phone when he was supposed to be in bed over an hour ago. I also love that there are Parental Controls I can set up to put an end to those late night shenanigans (which I'll probably have to do soon). I also love that there are Parental Controls I can set up to put an end to those late night shenanigans (which I'll probably have to do soon). But best of all is how much it's improved our internet speed. We live in Florida and have a really lousy internet provider. Unfortunately, they're the only game in town so we limp along with subpar speed and constant dropped connections. They say we should be getting 20 Mbps but usually when I do a speed test, we're getting about 12. It's seriously horrible. But since I hooked up the Deco, the speed is so much better. I've run speed tests several times since I installed the Deco and haven't had anything less than 20 - we're averaging about 24 Mbps, which is a major improvement, believe me. (I'm attaching a screenshot of the results of the test I just ran) I'm impressed and highly recommend the Deco AX3000.

Overall I'm really happy with the product. Setup was super easy. First time I've had to setup a router through a phone app rather than via the browser. It was a little weird to me, but totally fine. I have both units connected via ethernet and getting great throughput. I measured 160MBps down and 19MBpsup on my Pixel-4 and 448Mbps down and 23Mbps up through the router's speed test. My only real gripe (and it's kind of a big one) is the lack of a DNS server on the router. I didn't even know that was a thing so when i couldn't 'nslookup' my NAS I was shocked. Not a deal breaker for me. I plan to setup a dedicated DNS on a Raspberry Pi to work around the problem. The other small annoyance is the lack of a comprehensive browser configuration page. What a difference!

We had a decent router but when we moved into a bigger house, the wifi connections were not that great. We tried using wifi extenders, but the signals were still pretty slow. So I decided to look into "mesh" systems and found this TPLink system which got good reviews so I took a chance, knowing that there were free returns on it in case it didn't help with our wifi speeds and signal. The system was easy to set up and afterwards I did a speedtest on my tablet in various areas of the house, including the front and back yards, and the speeds were impressive. ROKU channels load up quickly too. It's only been an hour or so since I set up the TPLink mesh system, but I'm very pleased so far. Review for Deco X60 2 pack . I had some skepticism after reading through some of the negative reviews. For me the setup was as easy as it could be and all the devices were able to connect to the network without issues. The coverage is significantly better in the mesh than on single router config. User interface is simple enough but could be better for some features for an quick access

In case you are unfamiliar with mesh Wi-Fi, a quick explanation: a traditional Wi-Fi router broadcasts its Wi-Fi signal to the area it can cover. Its range is limited, so if you have a large house or an unusual layout, you will encounter dead zones, areas where you have weak or non-existent Wi-Fi. The traditional Wi-Fi router has one access point (the router itself) to broadcast Wi-Fi (unless you use an extender.)A mesh system is different: mesh Wi-Fi networks have multiple access points. My deco package has three units/access points. One acts as a router and connects to my modem. My deco package has three units/access points. One acts as a router and connects to my modem. This next part is where the "mesh" comes in: the remaining two units connect to the first unit and communicate with it and each other, collectively acting as a single Wi-Fi network, with each unit broadcasting its own Wi-Fi signal. So you effectively have multiple sources of Wi-Fi around your house rather than the traditional single Wi-Fi router.I live in a two-story house with a layout that challenges an effective Wi-Fi signal from being broadcast everywhere I need it, from downstairs to bedrooms that are further away from my traditional router. With this system, I now have strong Wi-Fi everywhere I need it because I can simply extend the mesh to where I need coverage with the remaining two units.Set up was actually far easier than the TP-link traditional Wi-Fi router this unit replaced. The app was fantastic, and was able to easily set up and name the new Wi-Fi network, and choose a new password. I used the same password as the old system so all my family had to do was select the new uniquely named Wi-Fi network and use the same password. Set up was more painless than I anticipated. Each unit also has its own ethernet ports so you can direct connect devices if desired.None of our phones, tablets, laptops, or smart TV's use the latest Wi-Fi protocols but backward compatibility was not a problem. This system is a bit pricey depending on the number of units you need, so I wouldn't make the plunge if your existing Wi-Fi coverage is adequate. But if you need more effective coverage, this system is really amazing, and offered from a brand I have long used and trusted. Hope this helps!
