Upgraded my aging yet still competent R5 2600 to a R5 5600 and the process was extremely straight forward: update BIOS, remove old CPU, drop in new one, re-paste. Done.The difference was immediate with Windows feeling snappier and quicker with loading apps and webpages. Games also feel smoother thanks to the doubling of L3 cache, helping with increasing 1% frame rates, even at 1440p using a 3060 Ti.Temps never exceeded 75c, idle temps between 30c-50c, mostly high 30's. Using a Coolermaster dual-fan tower air cooler.Definitely happy with the upgrade for less than $200, giving my PC a couple more years before I go with a new Zen 5/6 build.

AM4 is still the best price for performance.

Price for performance - this is it right here. 6 cores with 12 threads. Picked up used for less than 80 dollars. Capable little chip at stock. Fine performance with a little bit of tweaking. AM4 platform is still relevant and capable. Dropped this into a B450m Mortar and worked like a charm. You do give up some performance sticking to DDR4 but it is cheap and plentiful. Pick up a cheap 450 or 550 board, 16 or 32 gigs of 3600mhz RAM and your choice of video card (this 5600 shouldn't have a problem keeping up with a 3060 or 4060) and you've got a cheap gaming pc, streaming rig, and video editing rig that is modern and will play most if not all of the latest greatest games at high settings at 1080p. I bought the Ryzen 5600 to replace a 2600 and saw around a 50% increase in benchmarked results. I've found this has unlocked performance in games where I was previously CPU limited, in some extreme cases by almost a similar amount.I would recommend the 5600 as an upgrade for those wanting to get the most life out of their existing AM4 platform. This being that AM5, requiring DDR5, is an expensive upgrade proposition for a little more performance over the 5k series. Review of AMD Ryzen 5 5600 AM4 Processor

Good Points: For me, the processing power was a night and day difference as my last processor setup was based around a Core2Duo E8400.It started with Windows 7 and ended at Windows 10 and in last few years it was only suited to basic tasks (or struggle through complex ones) though was/is a decent CPU but as Windows 10 advances and 11 available, with editing photos getting getting more complex as I update my Adobe software and processing demands go up, the E8400 was struggling.
