I like that these set-weight type of dumbells make it easier/faster to move from exercise to exercise without having to load/unload, it just reduces idle time so much. The material is 'soft' on contact which won't chip my floor, however, I still use rubber mats to look after them and keep the noise down; another key feature that I like is that they are compact and not protrude too much (vertically and horizontally) like it would be the case when using plates making it easier to grab and keep within one's grasp.The only drawback is that as one adds more of these hex dumbells a proper storage area would be needed, as opposed to unloading a regular dumbell and putting the plates away.
