I'd already bought into the LaCie ecosystem with a D2 Quadra FW800 and a USB-3 LaCie Rugged Mini. I was looking for an inexpensive backup drive, and selected this one as it was cheaper than a brand new model.The drive came with only 3 hours of power-on time, and was in 100 percent healthy condition. The USB-C cable included matched the colour of the drive's rubber housing, and worked very well, getting around 100 MB/s of transfer speed from the disk.Overall a great purchase, and I would recommend the product and the site! :-)

USB Type-C is future proof and backwards compatible so no compromise, far superior to the previous USB Micro-B connector.Included one month free Adobe Creative Suite and 2-year recovery plan (which I extended to 3-year for £4 on the LaCie website).Cons: USB Type-C connector is very stiff to connect and disconnect, making you feel as if you are going to throw the drive across the room due to the force required to disconnect the connector, however this isn’t a fault with the drive just how these USB Type-C connectors are, and isn’t bad enough to override the benefits it offers.

Improvement Points: After 8 months or so this supposedly tough Lacie hard drive suddenly and irrevocably died. Fortunately I had copies of most things, but not everything. So some items were lost forever. For a product that was sold as ultra rugged and capable of standing up to anything, it was very disappointing that it could not resist the normal wear and tear of being carried from home to work each day.

I bought this knowing nothing about external hard drives and wanting to transfer my old mac data to a new one using Time Machine. It was easy to set up and it was also clear in the instructions on how to use it. It even said on the packaging that I would want to reformat the drive to use time machine. I only had a little over 200+ GB to move onto the drive and it didn't take very long. I just took a small break, came back and it was done.Would recommend this! I also like the orange rugged case :)Although I haven't transferred my data to my new mac yet (haven't gotten it yet), I feel like it will be a smooth transition.
I am a college student, and I needed something with a high amount of storage. I have had one of these before, so I was glad I was able to find one. I got the 1TB, but there are ones that have more. Perfect for those that need more storage than what their device is giving.
This is pretty straightforward item. It is slimmer than an older version I have with the same amount of storage as my older one. It's very durable and pretty portable.
I used to have the Passport external drive so I was worried about changing to Lacie, but I’m glad I did. The rugged support structure makes it very convenient to travel. The Lacie software also makes it very convenient so use Apple’s Time Machine, which made me very happy. I was able to set up the Lacie in a matter of minutes.
I plunged into Ventura on my silicon chip mac ahead of schedule and dislike the hybrid USB or C environment. I purchased this to store large file groups. Information copied amazingly fast and setup was minimal, especially compared to some other backup drives I have used, in the past. B&H is, as always, fast and reliable!
I've never had a bad experience with LaCie drives but I formatted this one and then realized it had some free programs on it. Oh well, it's doing a great job of being a Time Machine along with an additional backup folder that I partitioned into it (resulting in the deletion of the aforementioned free programs).
Very dishonest. This is NOT encryptable nor is it even able to be password protected using Windows Home 11 edition. This is bad that Office Depot offers this as NON refundable when they see how dishonest and sleazy this company is. You have to PURCHASE software from microsoft to be able to securely use it, and every time you do want to use it, you have to be connected to your microsoft account on the internet. Worthless for security.
