Suitable for very light offroad cycling and smooth tracks. Not as good at dealing with potholes and rough surfaces as a hardtail or mountain bike hybrid, but better in some ways on the road. The steering is a little slack, I would not want to let go of the handlebars at any time. I am not sure if this is because of how it has been put together. I have noticed some crunching in the gears since purchasing, the shift system is not that great. And the seat not very comfortable. Generally a nice looking and feeling bike - some small problems which need upgrades.Manager is welcome to email me.

Chain dropping

Since day 1 when the road is uneven and I am at lower gear (also meaning high speed), the chain drops if I am pedaling. The plastic chain guard broke quite quickly because of the often chain dropping.I changed my riding to avoid the chain dropping by stopping to pedal when the road is uneven, but it still happens and is very annoying. Wasn't expecting that from Specialized. In order to make it better, I need to upgrade a lot of components in the hope of fixing this issue. Maybe the rear hub and the derailleur are very cheap and cause the chain drop.

Purchased for my (short) wife as a bike she can use for fitness, heading to the shops, and then taking the kids out in a trailer attached to the bike.So far she loves the colour, the sizing is spot on (as recommended by Specialized), it was easy to get set-up to ride. She also loves the saddle and the overall comfort. Grips, which provide more stability and comfort, were also given high-praise.The gears however have almost immediately required adjustment, which was expected at some point, but disappointing it was so soon.Environmentally the box the bike arrived in was massive and a complete waste of empty space. Great all-round bike
19 August 2022

I bought this bike to be a rough-road commuter, which it is pretty amazing as. The aluminium frame is a bit jarring, but I knew it would be like that, and I think the light weight is a good trade-off for that. The one thing I would change is the gear range in the rear cassette. For fully off-road mountain style riding, it's probably perfect, but I find the mid-size gears too far apart tooth-wise. Maybe there's not good option here, but I would have like a smaller range cassette on the back. Of course, this is totally preference, but I'll probably change to a more standard cassette range, which is closer to a road bike. With a 40-tooth chainring I don't see needing anything more than a 28- or 30-tooth large gear in the back. Again, my preference, but when commuting, ... MoreI bought this bike to be a rough-road commuter, which it is pretty amazing as. With a 40-tooth chainring I don't see needing anything more than a 28- or 30-tooth large gear in the back. Again, my preference, but when commuting, I find the two gears I mainly stay in to be too far apart tooth-wise. The other issue with such a big tooth difference is the amount of chain movement when not pedalling. If you stay on the road, this is not such an issue. But I've had the chain pop off the front chainring just hoping off a curb onto the road. All of the above said, I'm super happy with this bike and would suggest it to anyone. I would have given it a 5/5 rating if the cassette were better. Maybe mountain bikers are used to this amount of deviation in a cassette, but coming more from the road, it feels sloppy.

Great bike but the chain sometimes comes off
19 October 2023

We got this for my son after he started high school because he had outgrown his previous bike and couldn't keep up with the other kids on bigger bikes. Great ride, real smooth, he loves that it has only one shifter, he loves the feel of the hydraulic disc brakes, and it's incredibly fast - now I have trouble keeping up with him on my 12-speed. In the 6 weeks he's been using it, the chain has come off the front sprocket twice (once on each side) and come off the rear sprocket once. In all cases I think he may have been pedaling too hard while trying to shift. The shift limiting screws seemed to be set correctly. I noticed other single-shifter models have a chain guide in front, but this one doesn't. Please consider adding one, or provide a way for me to add one.

Great general commuter: 1,200 miles in 8 months, no issues
20 October 2022

Bought 2022 X3 as a commuter and general town/trail/campus bike in PA. 1,200 miles so far, probably 75% asphalt, 20% smooth trail / gravel, 5% actual trail. I have done virtually nothing to it since I bought it except a free 6 month tuneup. I am 6'4" 230 and have the XL. I see others have had chain issues, I think my chain may have come off maybe 3 times in those 1,200 miles, so annoying but extremely infrequent. Handles light trails fairly well considering that is not its intended purpose. Perfect for commuter and around town/campus bike with mixed use. Happy so far, will check back in at 2,400 miles!

Looked all over; found it at Erik's!
12 July 2024

Spent a month or so looking for a Specialized X3.0 Sirus, in medium, in a particular color scheme. Dealers in the Tri-State area -- Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware -- either did not have ANY in stock or ANY IN MY SIZE! An online search, led me to Erik's in Minnesota where I discovered that they had seven or eight in stock, in my size and color scheme. Ordered the Sirus and it arrived several days later, packed securely in a padded bike box. Erik's even sent an assembly tool kit so that I could attach the pedals, handlebars, and seat post. Erik's had my exact bike, at a competitive price, and expeditiously shipped it across country!

Not what I was expecting
17 September 2024

I bought this at the start of August, it took almost two weeks from the warehouse to delivery due to multiple failings with their delivery partner. The build of the bike is not to the standard that I expect from Specialized having owned bikes from this brand in the past. Whilst the colour of the paint is striking, it is not hard wearing at all - especially at the dropouts. The rivnuts on the wishbone stays are poor, one was loose, and neither are up to the task of supporting a rack given position and quality of the rivnuts. They should have went with the seat collar rack mount like I have on my Diverge. The Tektro brakes are flawless, as expected, and no issues with the Microshift shifter/derailleur.The supplied hex keys and pedal spanner was wasteful. Sirrus X 3.0
9 May 2024

I’ve had this bike for over 3 months now and ridden it hard often. So far, unlike a couple of others, I have never dropped a chain once. As a matter of fact, I cannot find any fault with it. I love riding it. I bought a large (am 5’9) and the file fits me nicely. I did order a longer stem and had it flipped so I am not so upright. Also, had 3” cut off the handlebar. It’s perfect for me now. Would also like to mention the great service that I have gotten from the Specialized shop in Sampson, FL (just south of Jacksonville). Outstanding. They have helped me get the bike just the way I like it. Thank you.

Slick all-rounder
22 May 2023

8 months in, this bike has handled virtually everything thrown at it in all four seasons. Usage has been ~ 65% commute, 20% gravel (packed/rough), and 10-15% singletrack.Very comfortable geometry for day to day around town use. It makes you want to ride fast. For anyone taking their first steps into cycling as a hobby, this will be a familiar posture that will make getting on the bike easy and remove any intimidation. In my experience, you absolutely cannot get into an aero position on the bike without feeling squashed, but that's totally the point. It's a fitness/hybrid, and meant to be used and accessible for anyone - beginner or experienced. As far as it's condition, it is very robust. Everything is in great shape and looks brand new after a clean down, and the ... More8 months in, this bike has handled virtually everything thrown at it in all four seasons. Everything is in great shape and looks brand new after a clean down, and the bike has been abused. It managed a winter season and salted roads very well - no signs of rust. Impressive. It looks the part, but not so flashy that you will worry about it being stolen when you look the other way.
