I have many pairs of Tru-Spec 24-7 pants. Before now, all have been consistent is waist and length size. The “simply” shorts have a smock elastic style that barely gives instead of their more universal sliding style. Due that that, they are too small and unwearable.

If you are under 6 ft tall, with a slim build these shorts might work for you. If you are taller and / or muscular they will not.Pros : Tailored / slim fit and short rise lends a clean crisp look. Fabric is rigid - will stand up to abrasions and light brush. Pockets are functional.Cons : The various cons render these shorts basically useless. The tailored fit, short rise, lack of stretch in the fabric and useless elastic waiste band combine to make these shorts uncomfortable and non-functional in almost any tactical situation. Im 6'3", 215 with a moderate build (work out, etc, etc) and these shorts are tigghhht. Especially in the crotch. If you are over 6' and have some muscle you should pass on these.

Amazingly Great. The best feature about the Tru spec tactical shorts as opposed to my Blauer shorts that I always wore, ( Past tense ) for me is. They are so well thought out. By this I mean, Inside the two front cargo pockets are pockets. That accomodate an iPhone12 Pro Max Perfectly as though it was designed with that phone in mind. No more flopping around inside the pocket. The other cargo pockets are very well thought out. I love these Tru spec simply tactical Cargo shorts so much.I purchased the Khaki version, just to hang out in and chill when I am off duty. Because they are so perfectly thought out. Each cargo pocket. Can be specifically dedicated to what you carry inside it. Nothing loose flopping around in those pockets. Now what I don’t like is.They need ... MoreAmazingly Great. I love the layout, quality and features of these shorts! However, they are nowhere near lightweight! They soak up sweat and do not release or breathe. Sadly, I bought several and they are not appropriate for hot weather wear, here in SW Florida. If they made a summerweight pant like the Propper line offers or a different material weight, they would be perfect and I would buy a dozen, today! I used to buy Wrangler nylon cargo shorts, but they discontinued the line. They were perfect weight and certainly cheaper, but nowhere near the features of these. I would trade the weight and breathability over features any day. C'mon TRU-SPEC, make these lighter and moisture/sweat rejecting!
Fit is spot on, great for everyday use (I live in California and wear shorts 365 days). Pockets are just the right. IMO, other shorts don't make the cut when it comes to pockets. Not enough, too many useless ones or too much expansion in the cargo section that they get in the way. I own several of these which my wife considers my uniform.
These pants have:- Deep front pockets- Cargo pockets with a divider- An outside-accessible phone pocket in the cargo pocket--I like this better than trying to grab my phone from the inside of the cargo pocket. Also the phone pocket is deep enough for a 6" phone, unlike some other brands of cargo shorts.- The cargo pocket has a small additional pocket which is ideal for little things like hotel key cards.- Knife pocket is great for flashlights or (I guess) knives.
I wanted to like these shorts, but upon putting them on I instantly knew that they weren't a right fit. The elastic waistband isn't nearly as flexible as you would assume. The texture felt rough, ridged and stiff which made me uncomfortable. While sitting/driving they rode up really high and and I found myself having to pull them back down as they would bunch in my crotch. Also the side cargo pocket didn't have a Velcro closure to it and while wrestling with my children contents of those pockets kept falling out. I didn't even try the second pair. Thankfully these arrived prior to father's day so I gifted them to my Dad. I'll have to wait and see what his opinion is regarding therm. If your looking for a better texture, more flexibility, more security... Go with the Tru-Spec Ascent shorts. I have several pairs of those. These were on sale and thought I'd try them out. You pay a little more with the Ascent shorts, however, it's money well spent.
Your 27/7series Lightweight Tactical shorts are the better shorts, than the 24/7 series simply tactical cargo. I love the fit of the 24/7 lightweight Tactical shorts, pockets, slider waist band is lot more comfortable than the simply tactical shorts.I have bought LOTS of tru-spec pants, shorts, and I ordered 2 pair of the simply tactical shorts, they were at my door in 2 days. One pair fits tighter than the other, but there the same shorts. They have a little flex in the waist band. I saw the 24_< series lightweight Tactical on sale, ordered 2 pairs and there great. Both are ok shorts, just a little disadifid with the Simply tactical ones,I give them 7 out of 10, and the lightweight 2r/7 10 out of 10. That's just my feelings of the shorts. Lots of pockets, great shorts, I will be buying more,I can't go to the site, and click out before ordering something, and the team are great people. I don't know how many items I've ordered, and haven't had to return ANYTHING. Glad to buy from this site.
I am a big guy. 6' and around 310 lbs. I wear a 52" jean and belt size. Since I am heavy, when it is hot I much prefer shorts. But I am not a fan of either '70's / 80's short shorts or the 90's and 2000's super long shorts (which look a heck of a lot like "floods", short pants, or "knicker-bockers" to me. The shorts fit as described accurate waist and wear just above the knee. These shorts are plain, but stylish and functional shorts. They are cotton/poly so they breathe, but are durable and very stain resistant (important to me, because I live on a farm -- poop happens.) Galls and Tru-Spec seem to cater to the uniform, police, and fire/rescue crew set, so there are a lot of pockets and holders for anything you need to carry. Galls and Tru-Spec seem to cater to the uniform, police, and fire/rescue crew set, so there are a lot of pockets and holders for anything you need to carry. Solid fabric and good stitching, so you don't have to worry about ripping out a pocket or poking a hole in a pocket. I feel they are stylish enough to be "work" shorts up to business casual shorts. They do have a hidden "gaberdine"(?) (i.e. stretch band) in the waist. That also appears durable, but the shorts are very true to size, and have good solid belt loops so if you order your size and have a belt, you don't need the elastic -- although it is nice to have.Drawbacks? On sale I think these are a very good value (as of today 9/23/2017 they are $23.99 here at Galls.) However the retail MSRP is between $50 and $56. That's a lot of money for a pair of shorts no matter how "nice" or durable they are. Also, while I like the 50/50 cotton/poly blend, the fabric is a bit stiff. I would have preferred a 60/40 or 65/35 cotton blend: a bit softer and more breathable, but sacrificing some easy to care for and durability.Still, bottom-line, these are an excellent pair of shorts, good for work or play, and a great value at Gall's sale price.
Just like the pants only shorter, so if you’ve never owned the pants you’re in for Ecco a treat. I wish more manufacturers had the sliding adjustable waistband. That’s worth the price of admission right there. Plus the attention to detail and quality workmanship and materials make Tru Spec a top brand. I totally recommend them.
