I bought these to help with the recovery of shin splints during the rest period and to continue using them after to help prevent further damage. I found that they have helped and I wear before/during and after my HIIT training. They do feel quite thin however this doesn't particularly matter as they still seem to do the job with a solid compression exactly where is needed. I find that if you do get sweaty they can sometimes shift down the calf a couple cm and need readjusting every so often but the main calf is still covered. Overall, I feel they do what they need to and have definitely helped. I dont often do a work out without them now!

I have suffered from quite a few niggling calf strains over the last 12 months. Although I've only had them for a month, I have found these calf guards have really helped during runs and have also assisted with speedy recovery. Basically, I haven't had any further strains AND my times have improved significantly! Magical product!

Compression guards have helped to reduce the pain on long distance and trail runs, making running more enjoyable. Like many of the other compression products they are great and recommend to anyone.

I really like these calf compression sleeves. They are extremely light and thin but yet provide stellar support. Will be excellent during the summer. I have worn them on 3 runs and are pleased. Must be washed on gentle and left out to dry, but they do dry quick due to the material. It is a bit pricey(as is all of the 2XU stuff) but in my view it is worth it. Be careful on sizing - I read reviews on other sights before purchasing and was warned of this. I have about a 14-15" calf circumference and small was the right size. RRS is great on returns, but I would go with a size smaller than what you would normally do.
I get severe lower calf and shin pain when running. I am only just starting out but even with stretching I had to stop a stretch them out for several minutes after a mile. I bought these to see if they'd help and they do although I am still stopping (I can walk it now) and my recovery takes no time at all.I bought in size Small as my calves are 14" on left (injured leg) and 14.5" on right. I am glad I went down to Small. They fit really well with no feeling of being too tight. I can wear them all day!
Walking 20km, up and down hundreds of staircases, in all kinds of weather, everyday, these compression sleeves have felt great all day long. Any concern with them being black and feeling hot has been alleviated, since the material is so thin, and they have a cooling effect. The muscle containment stamping feels like a step up from regular compression sleeves, as it supports the muscle. I actually seem to feel more energized, and recover quickly to do it all again the next day. Now we know why superheroes wear tights - they’re not just for show, ya know!
Light material, very comfortable. Multiple knit patterns have been woven into the fabric to creat a 3D fit. Material thinner than anticipated.
I have a 17.7" width calf sometimes 17.9" if swells or if hot out during the run. I ordered Large where 17.75 was upper end. Very tight, but XL probably would have been too loose and offset the compression benefit.I would give 5 stars if for $60, they were more water-proof for swimming in a triathlon and if the Large went 0.25" bigger to 18.0" size.
I got into more consistent running over the last two years as it became harder to do most organised sports! I would often get sore calves once I started staying at 40km + week on week. This is a terrific product. I've found that - based on 40km+ weeks - they retain good compression for about 4/5 months. They've done a great deal to ease the calf pain I was having before. I'm able to get a lot more running in as a result - especially faster runs that were most problematic before.
This was a repeat purchase, 4 stars because they do stretch over time so typically good for about 6 months before replacement needed. Size guide is accurate & they fit pretty snug but care needed when worn with socks as they can pull down the guards during a run so ensure socks are rolled down. Overall though a really good product that has enabled me to continue running when I thought those days might have been over - recommended.
