I gave my cats Orijen, and I was surprised that they all absolutely loved it. I have a couple very picky eaters, so I can’t deny I had my doubts. However, even my most picky two felines were delighted to have Orijen in their meal. I started out slowly by adding a little to their usual dry food. Then, after they had no obvious adverse reactions, I slowly transitioned to an all Orijen meal. They can’t get enough of it. I saw that the first five ingredients of the Orijen foods are always fresh or raw protein sources from the best poultry and fish. This is what nature intended for our feline babies, and I’m so happy we discovered this cat food. We will now be buying this trustworthy brand for life.

Cats Loved the Taste

Was hoping for weight loss too, but neither product I was using he doesn’t appear to be loosing weight, only acts like we are starving him. I have to put the other cat’s dry food on counter in middle of the night so she gets more than her can nibbles in the morning and a few nibbles at lunch & dinner, then he takes over, even though we give them minimal portions for weight control. They weren’t gaining any more weight, but everything I tried including script food didn’t help or bothered his tummy except previous brand I’m still mixing in. I still have 2 unopened bags of this product to mix with the previous mix and add in the new fish flavor which I know they love all flavors of cat food. I recommend the food to any cat that doesn’t have a sensitive tummy. Keeping & using the 2 bags in case of food shortages for human & pets. “prepping”, I can put up with loose stools 1x a day, hubby deals with the throwing up, I haven’t seen if just liquid or food too, but at least they will have a few months of food if shortages do happen. I would be happy to have Chewy take them back & refund me, but I haven’t looked into refund policy. The new bag is big that will be coming. I have to order from a couple companies to get what works or what’s carried in stock.

High Quality, Picky Eaters Beware
1 February 2023

I love the quality of Orijen foods and this is no exception, but half of the 4 fat cats won’t touch it (maybe that’s how they lose weight? Lol) so I mix it with the Guardian 8 formula (also Orijen) for them, which they love, and only give them measured out feedings of the dry food now instead of free feeding (oh the horror!). My daughter’s 2 cats, 1 of which is a picky eater (the other one is basically a trash truck), both like it fine and eat it. They are also given measured out crunchies for the day. We give all the cats in the house a half portion of Sheba wet food per day as well (per the vet for the moisture, and we have Kitty water fountains- plural) and mix some powder probiotics and joint supplements into that. Hungry and fat cat - This doesn't work
11 March 2024

I got this for my cat and she's not loosing any weight. On top of this, she's very hungry all the time, even when I give her the specified amout for her ideal weight as instructed.I also got the common one for my other cat (which doesn't have any weight issues) and he doesn't like it. He eat it out of hunger, but is a daily battle to get him to eat his portion and when I offer him something else, he ALWAYS goes for that instead of this food.i'm gutted because I really wanted my cats to eat healthy, but seems like is not ideal.

Makes Kitty Sick!
13 July 2024

Unfortunately as expensive & well made as this kitty food is, it contain legumes & a lot of them . It make my cat soo sick that she throws up daily when eating it. When will companies stop putting this item it our pets food. It causes dogs cardiomyopathy & the worst digestive issues a kitty can have. You will find information all over about how horrible this is for our kitties digestion. Grain isn't bad in kitty food as long as you utilize brown rice or millet which is easier to digest. We have tried to feed our pets like humans & I love human grade food for kitty as by-products & meat meals are scary but the addition of the legumes or flaxseed sends our kitties tummy's in orbit. If your kitty doesn't suffer from digestive issues from these items then I am glad but ... MoreUnfortunately as expensive & well made as this kitty food is, it contain legumes & a lot of them . I am glad Orejin uses Sweet Potatoes but wish they would drop the legums!

My finicky cat loves this!
2 September 2023

I had a very hard time finding a healthy cat food that my finicky cat would eat. I discovered Orijen from a website called "all about cats" who suggested Orijen, if you have a finicky cat. So after researching it, I was thrilled to find that the ingredients are the most excellent you can find. I have studied a lot about cat food ingredients. Orijen is made in the USA, and it has multiple meat sources, and most all of the nutrition that a cat requires are in the food naturally because of the great ingredients. There are no dangerous ingredients like "dicalcium phosphate" which can cause urinary tract stones, which is in many cat foods. After being gently cooked, the food is sprayed with probiotics. There are no dangerous ingredients like "dicalcium phosphate" which can cause urinary tract stones, which is in many cat foods. After being gently cooked, the food is sprayed with probiotics. And it has a strong aroma that cats cannot resist. It smells quite good! And my cat is crazy about Orijen! But I was feeding her the original Orijen and she was gaining too much weight. She weighs 14.6 pounds, but she has a small frame and should only weigh 12 pounds at the most, and I was only giving her a scant 1/2 cup in 24 hours. So I reduced it to 1/3 cup in 24 hours. But she kept begging me for more food. So I looked to see if there were options on Chewy. And I was thrilled to find fit and trim. I emailed the makers of Orijen which is Champion Pet Foods, and ask them the calorie count. There is 515 cal per cup of the Orijen original, and there is 444 cal per cup of the Orijen fit and trim. They also told me that there is more fiber in Fit and Trim, which will help make her feel more full. When it arrived, she could hardly wait for me to open the bag. And then she devoured the sample that I gave to her. I am more than happy. It is very rich food, so I will continue to watch her weight, but I am hoping maybe I can give her 1/2 cup instead of reducing it to 1/3 cup. it agreed with her delicate digestive system just fine, no reflux or vomiting. This is the best cat food there is! Much better than what the vet tries to sell you for sure.

cats LOVE the taste, but doesn't do well for my older kitty
10 June 2024

i have two girls, and while they both LOVE this kibble, unfortunately it seems to not agree with my older one's tummy. she was on acana indoor for a long time, and switched to fit & trim end of last year/beginning of this year. i noticed she was throwing up more than usual, but thought it was due to her grooming her sister. suddenly, last month, she started having diarrhea, which she has NEVER had. only gave her wet food for awhile (they get both), went back to normal, started slowing re-introducing again. the loose stools are back. my younger girl has no issues with it, but it doesn't seem to agree with my 8 year old.

quality food, but new changes stink
5 January 2023

I've been feeding this to my tubby Bengal for about a year and he slimmed down a bit and has more energy. But I bought a new bag today, and the pieces are suddenly HUGE. The old shape/size was perfect for making him eat slower, and they fit into an interactive feeder. The new size is too big for the interactive feeder, and lets him eat way faster because each piece is twice what it used to be, so he's getting twice the calories with each bite. The bigger sized pieces wouldn't matter for regular cat food, but since this is for tubby cats, the huge pieces don't make sense. The new bag also didn't have a ziploc on it, and I had to find 16 containers to put it all in since I couldn't just close the bag like I used to. Not a big deal, but for the price, you'd think they ... MoreI've been feeding this to my tubby Bengal for about a year and he slimmed down a bit and has more energy.
