The bag is a good bag. It’s still kind of new, but overall - I wish I would’ve purchased the larger one. I believe it’s the 24L. At the time I did all of my searching for the “right” bag online. This was an initial purchase for a review for our new CCW class. It wasn’t until I went to an actual 5.11 store in Carle Place, New York while on business, that I met a store clerk that helped me a lot. Pretty much informed me that I had the wrong bag for what my intent was. Plus, he helped me identify which big carrier bag me and my wife need for our business. I literally learned so much about the 5.11 products and can’t wait to showcase them on our Instagram page and website.

I bought a RUSH 12 2.0 to serve as a "going out bag" for a large laptop computer. I liked the appearance of the double tap color scheme and the descriptions and reviews said it would handle a 15 inch laptop. I'm still using an ASUS Q524U computer which is huge by current standards but it has lots of ports for USB sticks, disk drives, phone cords etc. I recently had a solid state drive and new battery installed and the old computer was better than new. The RUSH 12 holds the computer and all the doodads ( power cords, backup disk drives, mouse, thumb drives etc) needed to do stuff. The ASUS Q524U is the largest computer this bag will fit as it goes tightly into the sleeve and the bag barely closes over it. Again, I like the double tap scheme. I'm not carrying the bag as a survival bag but it does have room for a few EDC items in addition to the computer. I like the CCW pocket although I don't currently plan on its use - I prefer on body carry of such items. The admin pouch is a little small but I'm getting adjusted to it. I have not tested the hydration pocket as I can fit a 24 oz insulated Under Armour bottle with my computer stuff in the main compartment. The lid locks securely and ice water beats room temperature water. Having started using the bag the double tap scheme picks up some dirt and there may be color schemes that will show it less. So far I've been able to wipe dirt off the bag. I selected the RUSH 12 over the RUSH 24 to hold everything I needed and a little more. The RUSH 24 looks like a good bug out bag but more than I need on typical days. I'm happy with my purchase.

Great size, great number of pouches and pockets, the fit is amazing for all-day carry. I spent an entire week carrying this around Disney World, loaded down with all the things you can imagine: water, trinkets, charger packs for cell phones...you name it, if the kids and/or wife didn't want to carry it, it went in Dad's pack.... And it worked phenomenally!!! It sat perfectly with the varying amounts of weight, even mostly empty. By the end of the week I was more in love with it than when I started. There are a few pieces of velcro for attaching patches and such, and plenty of MOLLE attachments for anything you can think of.... tl;dr: Awesome backpack, you won't regret investing in this one!

Before I say why I didn't give this bag a full five stars, I want to say that I really like the quality of materials and the workmanship. That alone should give it five stars. This thing is absolutely solid. My daughter is a Marine and she was telling me how her ruck is 55+ pounds. I placed some iron plates into my pack so I could see what she was talking about. That's a lot of weight to carry! The bag didn't show any signs of distress or made any sounds like it was being strained. It took the weight like it was just another day in the field. My only gripe is how the shoulder straps connect to the bag and are interconnected. I understand the idea is to distribute the weight across your shoulders, but that limits their range of motion. It took the weight like it was just another day in the field. My only gripe is how the shoulder straps connect to the bag and are interconnected. I understand the idea is to distribute the weight across your shoulders, but that limits their range of motion. I find it difficult (or maybe just awkward) swinging this bag over my somewhat wide shoulders without the straps being extended most of the way out. This then leaves the bag sitting well below my shoulders unless I cinch it quite a bit tighter. That's kind of a hassle just to put it on every time. Now, I don't mean to discourage anyone from considering this pack, but I did want to at least share that one observation.
Very nice pack. I have a Rush 12 in Double Tap and wanted a second EDC to rotate to. The 2.0 seems slightly larger with stiffer nylon construction. This is overall a plus, but the empty pack does feel heavier. I’d give 5 stars except for those @*%! compression straps. They are in a slightly different location, but still interfere with zipping open and close the main compartment. Really difficult to operate with one hand due to having to move the compression clip out of the way, no matter how secure you have it. Wish the clips could be hidden or secured out of the way better.
Was able to carry 3 ponchos, 3 water bottles, cooling towels, first aid, cleaning wipes, and snacks with room to spare. There are lots of compartments in the front pocket to keep things organized. It does not fit in the free smaller lockers at Universal Studios, Florida, but it did fit in the larger one that you have to rent. I even added Harry Potter morale patches to the Velcro. The sunglass compartment kept my shades safe, and I was able to transport a subcompact pistol and spare mag in the concealed carry compartment (not in the park). This is definitely going to be my small excursion bag of choice.
I haven’t used it a lot yet but I can already tell it’s fantastic. I needed a general purpose bag that I can use for travel, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, camping, boating and anything else I do. This bag is a little small so I don’t really use it as a suitcase, but it’s great for everything else. I love that there is enough molle webbing for me to customize the bag for different use cases. It’s small and lightweight for easy travel. It’s super comfortable on the back, even with heavy loads. I’ve rode my bike shirtless with it and it is not itchy or uncomfortable at all (does absorb sweat though). I love that I can tear open the bag and the zippers don’t bind. I’m hoping to use the conceal carry part once I can buy a pistol. The laptop compartment kind of sucks ... MoreI haven’t used it a lot yet but I can already tell it’s fantastic. I’m hoping to use the conceal carry part once I can buy a pistol. The laptop compartment kind of sucks because it’s far in the back and if you need to take your laptop out quickly you’ll have to completely open the bag up if you have anything else in it (not good for TSA). I don’t imagine most people will use that pouch for a laptop anyway but good to know. Sunglasses pouch is fantastic. I will need to get a water bladder to test out that while hiking but I imagine it’ll be great. Overall I would recommend to people who just need a bag that will be a Jack-of-all-trades.
I had a jansport with a yoke shoulder strap, it's a bad design. I wore this backpack for about 2 hours and realized it had the same flaw that my old jansport did, plus this one caused more pain due to harsher condura material on my collarbone. Yoke straps don't sit flat on my shoulder and create stress in the middle of the strap where seams eventually come apart. It also looks like a kid's backpack, partially due to the yoke shoulder strap forcing me to wear it not lower than a certain height. Awkward design. Other than that, this backpack is a great idea. Would love to see a similar backpack that can be carried as a personal item (18"x14"x8") on an airplane and with normal shoulder straps.
I'll start out with what I don't like. I purchased the kangaroo color. Nice look but other pack accessories sold are not in that color (maybe thats changed see 5.11 website but thats my experience), concealed carry compartment needs to be a bit bigger (anything bigger than a subcompact kinda makes the velcro not shut securely), the closure ties on both sides of the backpack are really not needed and in fact are annoying (get in way of opening main compartment), get rid of the water bladder compartment and just add overall room to the interior of the bag and a side compartment for a water bottle (bottles are less weight and easier to clean)What I liked: its a very durable backpack, will definitely survive what ever mission you have planned. Overall its a quality backpack and I enjoy it. I think a few changes would make it better but to each is there own.
I bought this Rush12, two years ago, to replace a Jansport pack, and I'll NEVER go back to flimsy material again! This 5.11 Rush 12 pack is well organized, and sized just right for stowing everything I need with me. The 1050 Denier material is VERY tough, and the quality of stitching is flawless. I haven't had a single loose stitching thread, no rips, anywhere. I carry heavy loads sometimes (books) and carry by just one arm strap, and still the arm strap shows no signs of wear at the stitching. I thought I would use the molle webbing, but I really haven't. Nice to have it though. If 5.11 would make this same pack, with the same 1050 D material, in a "gray man" version, without Molle, I'd buy another two, or three and keep one for me, and give the rest for Christmas ... MoreI bought this Rush12, two years ago, to replace a Jansport pack, and I'll NEVER go back to flimsy material again!
