The ergonomics are better than most other controllers at this price point. Triggers are precise, haptic feedback is strong and can be adjusted whenever with the Ultimate software app. The controller can be modified for a specific console/application too which is decent, though I kept mine stock. Anything you can think of tweaking with/on the controller can be done. Works perfectly on PC and Android, both wired and wirelessly. I would've given it five stars if it had no input lag when being used with Nintendo Switch. Barely had any when I used it with Xbox, which was easy to get over. It's very noticeable when playing fast paced SW titles like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, or Super Smash Bros Ultimate. I wanted to have a controller that would work on my iPad Pro so I didnt have to be syncing my Xbox Elite Controller 2 between my Xbox and the iPAd Pro, I know first world problems, so I got this controller. The build quality is really good and for the price I was surprised. The buttons and joysticks are great. The ability to switch between PC, Mac, Android, and Switch is really cool and with the app that allows you to map buttons and manage, customize, the dead zone of joysticks it is a lot more than your usual $50 controller.I had to return it due to it input lag. It would spike randomly regardless of mode and that could be due to the iPad Pro being on iPadOS 16 which is known to be really buggy even at the last month of its testing cycle. Great controller choice for someone who wants a controller for some combination of Nintendo Switch, PC, and phone. Can be paired with 4 devices and has a switch in the back to choose what to use it with. Has all of the standard buttons in addition to analog triggers and two additional back buttons. Has software that allows you to customize the buttons and lets you save multiple profiles if you want different layouts for different games. Form factor is similar to the Playstation controllers, which some may find to be less comfortable than the Xbox or Nintendo Pro Controller. Comes with a rechargeable battery pack, but also fits AA batteries if you aren't able to charge but want to keep playing. Lacks a good battery level indicator.

Great controller for the price
26 August 2022

The first controller I received had a defective right stick, but exchanging it at my local store was fast and easy. The new controller I received works perfectly and feels great to use. It will take me some time to get used to the symmetrical stick layout, and the stick grips are a bit slippery, but that can be easily solved by adding thumb stick covers. The buttons and dpad will be great for 2D games, and the Ultimate software is easy to use and well designed. My only problem with the controller is that the triggers feel really squishy compared to Xbox controllers. They feel slow when pressing all the way down, but luckily the sensitivity can be customized with the Ultimate software.Overall, this is a great controller for the price, and is incredibly versatile ... MoreThe first controller I received had a defective right stick, but exchanging it at my local store was fast and easy. Love this controller for Nintendo Switch

A well built controller. Feel is high quality. Features are outstanding. This is my go to controller for fighting games and 2D platformers. Using the Playstation style layout with the D-Pad above the left joystick makes this ideal for non-3D games. Buttons feel great (no mushiness). D-Pad so much better than on my Switch Pro controller. No more unintentional ups like the offical Pro controller. Turbo, Hold, and Macros along with the cell phone app to customize it with different presets add great functionality and value.

One of the best controllers you can buy right now.

I play on PC and Switch, including a ton of 2D games. I can easily say this is one of the best controllers to pick up. This controller has an amazing DPad, better than the PS4 Controller in my opinion. You can also create profiles to remap your buttons including a turbo button, swap out rechargeable battery for 2 AA's, two additional buttons on the grip of the controller, very comfortable and the build quality is superb. The only two nitpicks I have to say about it is I wouldn't play while using a charging cable since its short and holding the start button turns off the controller where some games require "Start" to skip a cutscene for an example. (This can easily be fixed by making a new profile and swapping Select and Start). Apart from that, this controller is ... MoreI play on PC and Switch, including a ton of 2D games. I would say it's even better than the official Nintendo Switch Pro controller. 100% worth every penny.

Quality issues, but great if working as intended

The first one of these I got had wireless issues - it would disconnect from the console and not register inputs correctly, even when right next to it. 8bitdo support was useless, they thought it was wireless interference on my end even though my other 8bitdo controller worked fine and I could replicate the problem with two different Switch consoles in two different locations, and they wanted me to send it to China at my own expense. On Reddit, I found out that there was a problem with the latest firmware version, and you could downgrade it to fit the input problem (still had the wireless disconnection problem though).I returned it and got another. Stellar third-party controller from 8BitDo

Currently owned the SN30 Pro+ and used it for both switch games and pc gaming. The Pro+ is great for both while having the Playstation/Dualshock layout which I personally prefer. One of the only issues with it was how to connect it to each device with a button combination, and while I have had it for over a year and a half I decided to get the Pro 2 mainly for PC games while the Pro+ is for my switch. The Pro 2 improves on that aspect with having a dial switch on the back for each compatible device (Switch, Android, MacOS, and Windows) rather than holding down different buttons which makes switching much easier. The extra buttons and profile options also allow more diverse options if you want to change layouts for pc (as PS, Xbox and Nintendo all have slightly different layouts). Everything else looks to be practically the same as the Pro+ and is a faithful upgrade to the Pro+. The only real issue noted is that the software to change buttons, make macros, and change profiles (Ultimate Software) has a slightly different version between the Pro+ and the Pro 2 and you have to download the correct one. Hope that 8BitDo can make a universal software that can detect which controller you have, but that's only an issue if you want mess around with the software, or have both the Pro+ and Pro 2.Overall, I'd highly recommend the Pro 2 over the Pro+ for the extra buttons and better method of synching to different devices. Unless the Pro+ is on sale or you specifically want the SNES version of thecontroller (as the Pro 2 doesn't have the SNES version) then there is no reason not to get the Pro 2 instead.8BitDo is a really nice third party company for a controller that competes well with the Switch Pro Controller, and certainly beats out other pro controller alternatives if you want a balance of quality and functionality.

Very good controller
5 April 2023

You definately get what you pay for. There are other controllers that are cheaper but don't come close to the quality of this one. This is fully customizable with their software. Change the button's lay out/function ANY way you wish. It is pretty responsive and the battery lasts for a long time. It connected to my switch right away without any issues. My only complaint is that it feels just a tad smaller compare to my previous controller. If they would make the handles just a little slanted towards the outside instead of straight down it would make it ergonomic and more comfortable.I definitely highly recommend the purchase and will but another one the next time i need a controller.

best 3rd party controller on the market

this controller connects to android and PC by bluetooth without issues. the face buttons and shoulder buttons press down nicely. the D-pad is a little bit mushy but is still the best for 3rd party. the start and select button are well placed unlike some of the newer controllers today. the controller is comfortable to hold for my small dude hands and the battery seems to last forever without charging.the biggest con is that the software does not work on windows 10. i was initially able to connect and update the firmware, but the software could not read the controller months later. i'm decently tech savvy and i have tried everything and it just won't connect.there are some other cons but some are my personal preference. the PSX color scheme looks great, but i wish ... Morethis controller connects to android and PC by bluetooth without issues. the face buttons and shoulder buttons press down nicely. the D-pad is a little bit mushy but is still the best for 3rd party. the start and select button are well placed unlike some of the newer controllers today. the controller is comfortable to hold for my small dude hands and the battery seems to last forever without charging.the biggest con is that the software does not work on windows 10. i was initially able to connect and update the firmware, but the software could not read the controller months later. i'm decently tech savvy and i have tried everything and it just won't connect.there are some other cons but some are my personal preference. the PSX color scheme looks great, but i wish the y x b a letters were printed on the controller itself instead of the buttons. i think they were trying to style it like the PSX, but the letter colors do not match the shape colors of the PSX controller. also, i believe there is no real warranty. it says 1 year warranty but i've read complaints that 8bitdo will have the customer ship the controller back to china for service. it won't be worth it shipping it there so it completely negates having a warranty.despite the flaws, i give this 8bitdo controller a 5/5 review because it is the best 3rd party controller on the market.
