Awesome controller!

The comfort of this controller exceeded my expectations. It’s the most comfortable Switch controller I’ve played with. It feels like a first-party controller. I love that it looks and feels like the Super NES controllers of the 1990s, but with added 3D analog control sticks and an extra shoulder button on each side. When you sync the controller for the first time, it is a little tricky but follow the directions that come in the box exactly and it will work.

Would have been 5 except that the X & Y buttons and the A & B buttons are swapped - so don't match an XBox controller button layout. That's the con. Everything else is Pro. The size, the charging time, response, etc. I bought this on a deal of the day for tablet gaming. Diablo Immortal is only for PC and mobile devices. I used this on my Samsung S7 FE and it worked GREAT. Event htough you can play this using the touch screen, that doesn't work if you want to cast your tablet to your big TV - so this controller works great for that & fits in the laptop bag. Then I thought I'd try it on my smaller 10" Lenovo Chromebook & it worked great for that - I just have to remember where the "real" A button and "real" X buttons are for gaming. I'm sorry I didn't buy 2. I hope ... MoreWould have been 5 except that the X & Y buttons and the A & B buttons are swapped - so don't match an XBox controller button layout. That's the con. Excellent controller.

This is my second 8bitdo wired gamepad and it’s obviously good enough to buy another. This is a bit different from my first one in that this has rubber buttons vs. plastic. That could have some implications on the longevity of this controller although I’d imagine that the buttons would last at least as long as the button mechanisms. If you want a good PC or Switch controller and don’t want to deal with batteries/Bluetooth this is a great pick.

Good with one major flaw
12 March 2023

Everything about this controller is great. I love the form factor and the responsive buttons. Only problem is that the pairing process is stupid. For one, the controller turns on with the start button, not home. You have to do a button combo to actually get it to pair with your switch, pc, ios, or android device. A toggle would’ve been nice.

Great quality controller
14 January 2023

Really love this controller. I use it in X-input mode on android and it works great; you can use D-input but some emulators like Retroarch don't recognize the buttons correctly in this mode . Buttons feel very nice and high quality. Bluetooth works perfect. I think this controller doesn't need the analogue sticks but it doesn't hurt. Got on sale for $35 and that is the most I would pay for it. All in all definitely recommend for some retro gaming and even modern Android gaming.

Great retro controller
20 November 2021

I really like the look and feel of this controller. Especially for playing the retro SNES and NES games on Nintendo switch online. My only complaint about this control is that it has an old USB plug. I wish it had usb C. I like to plug in my controls directly to my switch to play in table top mode and I have to carry an adapter to plug this directly to my switch. It’ll connect to the dock but I don’t use it for that. Other than that, this control feels great. The joysticks feel like PlayStation joysticks, the dpad is very nice and responsive and so are the buttons. All in all, I think this control is an excellent value. If you want a wired control at a great price than I recommend this to you

The ultimate 2d Games Controller

The DPad has been a staple of Nintendo's for a while now,and this controller really embraces the legacy. It pairs easily, and is very responsive. The build quality is excellent, and you'll be glad to learn that it has concave and convex buttons just like the original SNES controller. Only issue I'd have is the manufacturer warranty and support, but the controller itself is stable and very high quality. I would recommend purchasing protection just in case, however. Comes with USB-C and is compatible with everything through wire and Bluetooth. The grip may feel weird to some, but for kids who grew up with the dogbone it's easy to use, and for someone like me who didn't grow up with the odd shape i found adapting to it very easy as well, definitely better than adapting ... MoreThe DPad has been a staple of Nintendo's for a while now,and this controller really embraces the legacy. All in all, it's a very quality controller and I would recommend at it's price point for anyone who plays 2D games that utilize the Dpad, or anyone who enjoys the PlayStation stick symmetry. Not the best for games that require more precise 3D inputs like shooters, as the analog sticks are only slightly larger than those on the joycons, but if you're on the market and play a lot of SNES games or fighters, it's definitely a good controller to have. Portability is a plus too, as it's tiny size makes it the perfect on the go controller.

Well built, compact, quality retro style controller
9 August 2018

Ive been using this controller exclusively with my switch for almost a month now, and to say the truth, I love it. Its well built, it doesn't feel flimsy, plus its about the right size as an actual SNES controller (its a bit thicker, and a tad heftier on account of the added components - analogs, vibration, motion controls, bluetooth, extra buttons), but it does the job well. This controller always syncs right up with my switch, and has a home button as well as a working capture button. However, it cannot wake the console up. Im not sure if this is due to the fact that its a third party device, or if there is some missing update, but i think thats the only flaw. Now, mind you, im not a hard core gamer and I bought this because I enjoy retro gaming, and love the way it looks (plus the cheaper price point helped!). The battery has excellent life; I think it took around a week of playing for it to finally give out after the original charge I gave it. It has some cons tho, the smaller size will cramp your hands after extended play (or at least they do mine), but by extended i mean over 3 hours, which is not usual for me. The motion controls seem on point, i tested them mainly on Zelda BOTW, and the analogs are precise enough, the vibration is NOT HD rumble. Its a regular vibration like you would find on an xbox or playstation controller, but thats fine by me. It also does NOT have NFC, but really if you have a switch, the joycons already have NFC so this shouldnt be a real sticking point. It includes a USB-C to A charge cable thats rated USB 2.0. I would not recommend using it to charge your switch or to hook up your switch to your PC (as the switch wont recognize the cable properly), I left mine hooked up to my dock and use it strictly for charging the controller as it was intended. I think the biggest pro for me on this controller is its size. It makes it very portable, and I can easily pop it into one of the pockets in my backpack with no bulging issues. It wont fit in my switch carry case, but i think thats also due to the fact that my carry case is quite compact (it barely fits the wrist straps and a USB-C cable. All in all, I do highly recommend this controller. It is specially good for retro gaming, but will play well with most game types, and its much cheaper than the Switch Pro controller.

Why won't this thing work?!
19 June 2022

I thought buying a USB enabled PC controller would be better than getting a bluetooth controller, but I was wrong. This controller constantly stops working while I am playing. I have to disconnect it and plug it back in for it to continue working. I also had a problem with getting it to work if for some reason it gets disconnected from my PC. I have to exit out of the game and then start the game WITH the controller plugged in or else it won't work. I mainly was playing GTA 5 when this issue would happen.

Wireless but problematic
15 March 2022

I own the wired USB version and this version and find the bluetooth version to be problematic. The Direction pads, buttons and triggers all work as advertised. This is a great SNES style controller and I had no difficulty using it with Steam and Emulation. My problem is there is not a reliable way to turn the device on, you must use the same button that initiates bluetooth connection. After you are done using the device, it will stay on until the battery dies.I find I have to delete the item from my computer after use if I intend to reconnect later which mean the device will occasionally go into Bluetooth connection mode. This is frustrating and just rediculous. For around the same price, I can buy a PS4 or Xbox controller without these problems.
