Reel has a clicking noise when you turn handle.I hope it just needs a complete tear down which I will do. I own 10 other Abu bait casters and this is the first one that has a problem.My other Abu reels are from 2 10 years old and work as well as the day I bought them.Hopefully this one will be to once I clean it.

Bought this reel as a Christmas present to myself, primarily for chasing Murray Cod. Absolutely beautiful piece of equipment. Handles everything from the usual standard sized hard body lures (Stumpjumpers etc.) right up to the "oversized" soft plastics and spinner baits with 2-2.5oz weights

I have several abu garcia reels as well as some rods and think they are good products. I only used this reel a few times however, and the side plate fell off twice. The second time it was into the water. The little open button may have been loose? as it was closed before. The thing did cast well and I had no other issues but its use was short lived.

I was upset. I somehow managed to take the brake cover off and couldn’t figure out how to get it to stay on. You need to turn then brake adjustment down. Since then this reel has been awesome, great casting with the 20lb braid I’m using. I’m about to upgrade to 40 to give it a test. Dozens of great bass pulled out of weeds with thing.
Purchased the. Revo Gen4-S HS this afternoon as an early Father’s Day present from the kids. Two hours later I pulled this beauty out of the pads surrounded by a THICK hydrilla mat. The 7.3-1 gear ratio saved the day on this girl. Paired with a 7’0 All Star Classic There was enough backbone to drive the hook home and the Revo handled the rest.
I've always been a Garcia fan, and bought 3 Revo X's about a year ago, and LOVED them! So smooth, and never had a problem with them. Handed them down to my son and bought myself 3 Revo S's and have been incredibly disappointed. The X's were $30 a piece cheaper, and way smoother than the more expensive S's. Maybe I'm missing something, but as you go up in price, most of the time they get better and better. Not this time, Sorry abugarcia, you missed the boat on these.
I bought this reel and a revo spin cast reel and got a vegence rodI have been using the spin cast with great successOn my first trip with the baitcast reel (had to wait till the rod arrived) I had the best day fishing in my life for big walleye and bass on the Columbia river. Caught a 32 inch 12 plus pounder using 6 pound braided and landed the fish in the boat with no problems.Caught 4 walleye all over 23 1/2 inches and 4 bass in the 14 to 18 inch rangeThank you from a satisfied customer
First thing I noticed was the light weight then after filling the spool with line I found it to be very smooth. This reel is suitable for multiple applications such casting swimbaits, crankbaits, flipping, etc. The Abu Garcia Revo S has quickly become one of my favorite reels in my arsenal. It also looks good with about any color rod.
I have 3 of the RevoS G3 models I bought soon after they became available (several years ago). They are great reels for ~$100 when I purchased. I give them athorough cleaning internallyevery year or two. They always cast well and handle some of the largest fish I’ve caught with ease. 30+” Reds and many many LMBass over the years. After saltwater use I give them a rinse with fresh water and re-oil the pawl and worm gear. I firmly believe this routine helps the life of the reels.
to be completly honest, im not impressed with abu garcia. i have had 4 of their rods from the villian to veritas and vendetta. and 7 reels such as the revo sx and s and stx etc. all feel cheap and end up giving out after about a year or 2 of use and care. after getting this revo s gen 4 in the mail i was dissapointed in the quality. i have had a lot of issues with getting quality products from abu such as getting a rod with bad eyes or a reel that isnt even complete. diawa and lews and even quantumn have proven me better.
