The Abus Airbreaker is a helmet for the discerning, performance-oriented road cyclist. This ultra-lightweight helmet was developed in collaboration with Team Movistar and combines great wearing comfort with excellent performance and extra safety in case of a fall. Abus developed Forced Air Cooling Technology. This is a ventilation system with 11 air entry points and 13 air exit points, which are interconnected. This results in an optimal wearing climate for your head, even when it's very warm outside. Plus, this helmet was designed to be as aerodynamic as possible. This can clearly be seen in the shape of the helmet shell, and the straps that go around your head are as tight as possible to prevent flapping. To top it all off, the Abus Airbreaker has a durable, in-mold connection between the outer helmet and the shock-absorbing inner material. This reduces the impact on your head in case of a fall. In short, the Abus Airbreaker is a cycling helmet for the discerning, performance-oriented cyclist. This helmet is striking in terms of aerodynamics, comfort, ventilation and safety. There's a good reason Alejandro Valverde became a world champion with this helmet!

Good Helmet, very comfortable with no wind noise even at high speeds. This is my favorite helmet at the moment and after my last crash I knew I would come back to it, this time just in another color. Glasses can be stored in the fron in the vents easily.Matt black looks amazing but scratches easily. The shiny colors are less fragile than the matt black.Downsides:-hard to wear with cycling cap simply not designed for that-non adjustable strapsBoth downsides are minor though and I can highly recommend the helmet to anyone who is speed focused :) Not sure how aero it is but it certainly LOOKS very aero and racey.

I’ve worn Kask Mojito’s for years and found Kask shape the best fit for me. Having agonised over another Kask, the Airbreaker and Gamechanger I decided on this one seduced by the hope of better aerodynamics. I was worried it would be hot as there is limited venting at the front and none at the side. Having ridden a few times now including the recent heatwave in 30C+ I needn’t have been concerned. This helmet is amazingly efficient at ventilating your head, presumably due to the deep channels which flow from the front vents, over your skull, and out of the rear vents.Personally, I like the looks, and the fit and retention is excellent. I would have given 5 stars but the straps are a bit course and the internal padding super thin, and could do with a pad to cover ... MoreI’ve worn Kask Mojito’s for years and found Kask shape the best fit for me. As I wear a skull cap its not a big deal and you could retro fit something yourself. Whether its faster or not I don’t know but it is certainly cooler. I am converted.

I have received this helmet today, the white one. Tried it on, veeeery nice. Looks amazing, fits well, is lightweight. Moments after putting it on, the spirit of Abuelito El Bala Valverde appeared and summoned me to go on a ride to test it out properly. I had to oblige. The moment I got on the bike I felt different, much more powerful than before. I instantly went straight to my local 15% slope which I crested at 45km/h, taking 17 KOMs in the process. Rainbow bands also appeared on the ends of my sleeves, which was a bit embarrassing, so I went straight home after that. I’m not saying this will happen to anyone who purchases this helmet, but you too could be visited by the spirit of El Bala so I’d say that alone is worth a shot.

Had a met helmet before. After 4 years the padding went. Bought new padding (came in 5 pieces held on with Velcro) the Velcro came apart and new padding disintegrated. Bought the airbreaker. It’s light and fits amazing. Best of all the padding is once piece, not held in with Velcro. Expensive but you get what you pay for. And if you are going to use it, why not pay for the best.
Very comfortable and very light (235g sz Lg). Nice low profile, no mushroom look. Quiet. Straps are nice & the fixed under ear was no problem. Removable straps for cleaning. My oakley jawbones do stash in the vents pretty well. Forehead pad does saturate then sweat cascades down my face. 1st one i bought saved my head in a crash so I bought another (Bikeinn price less than crash replacement price from Abus).
I have now been on over 15 rides with this helmet and without doubt the best I’ve owned. I sweat a lot and the pad at the front of my old helmet would drip and stink after a while no matter how many times I washed it. The helmet is extremely light and when on you don’t feel it there is a small forehead sweat band which works wonderful no more drips!! Unless I’m really working climbing in the heat but you will never stop it completely but I can feel the air blowing through so cools me down quicker. As for looks perfect my sunglasses don’t keep hitting the helmet like some makes and the neck straps fit close to your head with no irritation. This is a high end helmet with a hefty price tag but to be honest the pain of buying goes once you have worn it for a few rides!
Upgraded from a Specialised Evade II and really impressed with the lightweight feel, quality and ventilation in comparison - New favourite lid! Only thing better on the Evade is the chin strap magnetic connector Vs the standard clasp version on the ABUS. Pictures on-line don't do the product justice. Happy to live without the MIPS and save on the marginal weight gain - makes the head feel a lot lighter when in aero positions on lengthy rides!
Wanted to upgrade from a budget carrera helmet with £100 budget. So bought a few helmets with the aim of keeping the best/looked the best on.Abus Gamechanger - £90 with discount, fitted well, unique look, light on, sadly quality doesn't reflect even the sale price. Exposed foam, low quality pads and didn't suit me on.Abus storm chaser - same as above but even lower quality in my opinion/cheap look to it.Giro Cinder - better quality worth the £90 price tag just looks like a massive mushroom on my head.Bontrager starvos - £100 best helmet for quality look and feel but sadly didn't suit me on.Met Mantra - £80 good quality and feel not quite as good as Bontrager but suited me/looked good on# keeper
Had a race during the Quebec GP in Canada in August. I crashed during a descent at 70KPH. Hit my head really hard on the ground, which completely destroyed my helmet but saved my life. Had nothing but some really harsh road rash and no concussion. Even the paramedics were surprised that I was fully conscious. This is by far the best helmet in my experience of helmets. Only downside is that I didn't get anything like crash replacement or discount by Abus but oh well. Still going to buy myself the same helmet.
Bought this to use in Cyprus so main focus was on ventilation. First impressions are good but if the weather is hot then the weather is hot and not a lot a helmet can do about it. It is very light and well vented. I compared this against the Kask Vertigo helmet and found it's profile was better suited for my head. I also found it difficult to get the correct tension in the Kask straps. Both helmets do not have adjustable straps although there is an option to tweak the Abus to sit the straps in one of 3 positions. They difference in each position is very small and not sure how much difference it made. Nor do you get the option of Mips or the equivalent if that's important to you. Overall, a good looking helmet but a bit pricey for what you get.
