The Abus AirBreaker is a helmet for the demanding and performance-oriented road cyclists. This ultralight helmet was designed together with Team Movistar and combines high wearing comfort with excellent performance and additional safety when you fall. Abus developed Forced Air Cooling Technology. This is an interconnected ventilation system with 11 entry vents and 13 exit vents. This creates the ideal temperature around the head, even in hot weather. In addition, this helmet was designed to be as aerodynamic as possible. This is shown not only by the design of the helmet's shell, but also the straps around the head are as taut as possible to prevent fluttering. In addition, the Abus AirBreaker has a durable In-Mold connection between the outer shell with a shock-absorbing foam lining. This further decreases impact to the head. The Abus AirBreaker is a great helmet for road bikers that value high performance and have high demands. The helmet excels in aerodynamics, comfort, ventilation and safety. It’s for good reason that Valverde became world champion with this helmet!

I have received this helmet today, the white one. Tried it on, veeeery nice. Looks amazing, fits well, is lightweight. Moments after putting it on, the spirit of Abuelito El Bala Valverde appeared and summoned me to go on a ride to test it out properly. I had to oblige. The moment I got on the bike I felt different, much more powerful than before. I instantly went straight to my local 15% slope which I crested at 45km/h, taking 17 KOMs in the process. Rainbow bands also appeared on the ends of my sleeves, which was a bit embarrassing, so I went straight home after that. I’m not saying this will happen to anyone who purchases this helmet, but you too could be visited by the spirit of El Bala so I’d say that alone is worth a shot.

ABUS AirBreaker HelmetSuper light, great fit! I chose a small size (Head size: 51-55 cm)My head measurement is 55cm and was a bit worrying that the helmet would be too small, but It is perfect. Now, I think a Medium size would be too big.Bought it for racing in XCO, XCOMGreat Product, superb quality, super light, great fit, and visually I look good with it.

Bought this to see if ventilation and inner design was up to preventing sweat dripping in my eyes and onto sunglasses. After several rides including a few warm days it appears to be doing the trick. No problems as yet which is night and day difference to Kask Mojito I had before. Ventilation is excellent, inner cradle floats off your head leaving room to allow sweat to evaporate. As regards aero quality I have no idea but it’s quiet and fits me well. The straps as others have said are thinner than other brands but soon forgotten once it’s on your head. It’s light too. Medium fits well and similar to a M mojito. Highly recommended

At last I own a helmet that actually fits! Its only taken 30 years. Its extremely light, comfortable & pretty stylish. No more mushroom head as its not too wide & am thinking that better fit = safer helmet.Highly recommended.I expect that I will now be as fast as MVDP.
I have now been on over 15 rides with this helmet and without doubt the best I’ve owned. I sweat a lot and the pad at the front of my old helmet would drip and stink after a while no matter how many times I washed it. The helmet is extremely light and when on you don’t feel it there is a small forehead sweat band which works wonderful no more drips!! Unless I’m really working climbing in the heat but you will never stop it completely but I can feel the air blowing through so cools me down quicker. As for looks perfect my sunglasses don’t keep hitting the helmet like some makes and the neck straps fit close to your head with no irritation. This is a high end helmet with a hefty price tag but to be honest the pain of buying goes once you have worn it for a few rides!
This was an update to a Bontrager Velocis, already a nice helmet but the Airbreaker is a much better fit, at least for my head. I am a 56cm size and bought a Medium which fits well - closer to the head and narrower than a Velocis in the same size. The retention cage is similar to that of the Kask Protone and thus the fit is similar. This is a very light helmet, well ventilated so I would be interested to know how cool this gets in winter but certainly for summer this is great and takes an under-cap and holds glasses no problem. You may wish to cut the chin strap to length once positioned as I found this is quite long. This is a premium price but I do believe you get befitting performance, weight and build quality.
Helmet sizing/fit is very much down to individual preference/dimensions so it’s not that this helmet is bad it just didn’t suit my head shape. The lack of adjustability of the straps meant that I couldn’t make this a comfortable fit. I typically use kask helmets as the fit suits me and I have gone back to this brand only for that reason.Otherwise it’s a great looking helmet.
I bought this after one of the strap clamps on my Cannondale helmet snapped, rendering it difficult to wear comfortably. The Airbreaker is a nice fit & comfortable, and after trying MANY different helmets, this is the first I found that didn't interfere with the top of my Sungod glasses (other makes were pressing down on the top of glasses frame causing discomfort and pushing the glasses into a less than optimal position, rendering them useless.Only minor niggle is that my previous helmet came with a detachable plastic cover which covered over a lot of the air vents for winter riding, but a thick neck tube should suffice?
I've spent a while looking for a helmet that feels and looks good. From the first moment I put this helmet on, I wanted to cut the strap and hit the road. The airbreak is on point, it's lightweight, comfortable and vents really well. The rear adjuster is easy and works like most others, the straps are thin and barely noticeable. Some minor points to consider, the inner pad isn't as easily removable as other helmets, it doesn't have MIPS and when my sunglasses are stored in the front they feel a little loose and might slip out. The price is also high and you don't get any extras in the box like a bag to store and protect your helmet when travelling. But it feels great when I'm on a long ride so I can ignore all of that and eat up the miles. Only 4 stars as I feel ... MoreI've spent a while looking for a helmet that feels and looks good. Bought this to use in Cyprus so main focus was on ventilation. First impressions are good but if the weather is hot then the weather is hot and not a lot a helmet can do about it. It is very light and well vented. I compared this against the Kask Vertigo helmet and found it's profile was better suited for my head. I also found it difficult to get the correct tension in the Kask straps. Both helmets do not have adjustable straps although there is an option to tweak the Abus to sit the straps in one of 3 positions. They difference in each position is very small and not sure how much difference it made. Nor do you get the option of Mips or the equivalent if that's important to you. Overall, a good looking helmet but a bit pricey for what you get.
