Bought the S7 and T7 to cool my AVR cabinet. Awesome fans! My cabinet never even gets warm now! These fans are really great because you can plug up to 2 additional fans into them and the thermostat for the T7 model will run all of it. I had already bought 2 Infinity S4 fans a while back and they are great too, but they weren't enough. Now I have the 2 S4 fans and the S7 fans all plugged into the T7 thermostat. My only complaint is that they do hum even on the lowest setting. The S4 fans never made a sound that you could hear on the highest setting. Anyway, during a movie you never notice any of it kicking on so it's no big deal, but I do keep the fans on the lowest setting. If I had to use the higher settings my review may have been different.

I needed a simple solution for venting the heat out of my media cabinet when the doors are closed. I did not like keeping the doors to the cabinet open all the time but needed to protect my expensive audio gear from overheating. Adding the difficulty of keeping toddler hands off the equipment when the doors were open I looked around Amazon for solutions and was pleased to find this cabinet fan. Installation was very straightforward with the included template and the fans work wonderfully! Temps inside the cabinet remains at room temperature even after several hours of use. When installing be sure that the fans are venting the hot air out of your cabinet (not blowing the outside air into the cabinet) and mount it as high as possible to maximize the vent effect. If your cabinet is sealed well you will need to add an air intake to your cabinet. In my case the small gap around the front doors is sufficient. The ability to use either USB or A/C power options were useful as this fan automatically comes on when I turn on my audio receiver and I like that there is an on/off switch in case I need to disable the fan without unplugging a bunch of things. Overall I am very pleased with the quality of this unit and will definitely look to AC Infinity in the future for my media cabinet venting needs.

This product was purchased to compliment AIRPLATE T7- cabinet dual fans. The S7 dual fans are speed controlled with the T7's temp sensor. The 4 fans work in sync based on how the user sets the controller's modes. Fan speed can be fixed or variable based on mode and/or cabinet temperature. Both products are manufactured well and function as described in their manual. I highly recommend this product.

I like the way this looks in my AV cabinet. The black finish means it basically hides in the background, not really seen. Unfortunately it's developed a rattle that definitely makes it heard. It started out okay, both of the 120mm fans spin up fine and move air quietly like they should. They're in a cabinet with equipment that's always on (DVR's for the main part), so the fans are also always running. At some point, maybe 2-3 months after installation, one fan developed a rattle that's clearly audible even when the volume is cranked on a movie or whatever. I now have a routine of sticking a little plastic stir stick into the fan to stop it, then let it spin up again, and usually on the 5th or 6th thing it finds a better balance and is noise free for a day or two. I use the plastic stir stick because it's flexible and soft, so it probably won't damage the fan blades much...as opposed to shoving a metal something in there.I'm now searching around for a better ball bearing type of fan to replace the 2 fans that came with this. It's a shame really... so basically I've paid for this thing for just the mounting hardware, and will be supplying my own fans. The only reason I'm giving it two stars instead of one is because that mounting hardware does look nice...just a shame they don't sell that separately and let you use your own fans, because really, that's what you'll probably end up doing in the long run.EDIT:Based on the reply below from the company, I'm updating from 2 to 3 stars. Admittedly I could have gone back to them after the noise developed and asked for a replacement, but for the price I didn't care too much and I went for a bump in airflow and noise reduction by using alternate fans on the same mount.Still, it's good to see a company stand behind their product and offer to make it right, so kudos to them

My cabinet back was made of 1/8" laminated cardboard so i ended up just using a utility knife to cut the main hole.My fans arrived mounted blowing inward so I took them off and remounted them for use as exhaust fans. They work great. I plugged them directly into the NAS USB port and they started up with no problems and haven't turned off since. I have been running them 24/7 for about 2 weeks without any problems. With the cabinet door closed, I absolutely cannot hear them. With the cabinet door open, I have to stick my head near it and actually listen for it. Noise isn't an issue with these fans.Great fans and definitely recommend for anyone trying to get some warm/hot air out of an electronics cabinet.
Our media cabinet is small, but jammed with equipment (TiVo, BluRay player, UPS, two iOmega ix2-200 NAS, and a gigabit switch) that generate a lot of heat. The temperature within ranged from 100-120oF (yes, that hot!). The ix2-200 internal fans, which kick in at temperatures over 59oC, were constantly running at 1000-1500 rpm, and they reported an internal temperature of 60-65oC. The only ventilation in the cabinet was two 3-inch cutouts for cables near the bottom of the back panel - not very good to remove hot air passively. It may be coincidental, but about a month ago, our year-old TiVo had a drive failure. The only ventilation in the cabinet was two 3-inch cutouts for cables near the bottom of the back panel - not very good to remove hot air passively. It may be coincidental, but about a month ago, our year-old TiVo had a drive failure. After replacing the TiVo drive, I decided to actively cool the cabinet with dual intake fans (near the bottom of the back panel) and one exhaust fan (top of the back panel). The reviews for the AC Infinity fans were excellent, so I purchased a dual AC Infinity 120 mm quiet fans for the intake (this product), and a single AC Infinity 120 mm quiet fan for the exhaust. The fans were very simple to install (and look good after installation). The cutout mask provided made it easy to mark the back panel and a I used a dremel to make the cuts. Because our media cabinet is up against a well, I need to remove the fans from the inside to clean the filters. Therefore, rather than use the provided nuts and bolts to mount the fan, I used industrial strength velcro. I tried using nylon push rivets, but couldn't find ones in the right size that popped out relatively easily. The fans are very quiet. There is no speed control on them, but the specifications state they run at 1200 rpm. As provided by AC Infinity, the fans are configured to serve as intakes, but it is easy to reverse the direction of airflow - need to remove 8 nut/bolts. Note that cable length will make it difficult to configure one fan as intake and one fan as exhaust for the dual 120 mm cabinet fan. After one day, the fans seem to be working - the temperature in the cabinet is around 80oF. Hopefully, they will last .....
Got two of this to connect on a Controller 12, Fan Controller, one configured for intake and one for exhaust. They are indeed very quiet and produce a lot of airflow. The temperature difference in my cabinet was immediate! The installation on the cabinet doors was very easy using the provided mask, the cables are long enough for my rack/cabinet and connecting the fans to the controller was trivial. The quality of this product (packaging, feel, looks, handling, everything this unit was built for) is something to be proud of, both by the designers/makers for making it, and by the customer for "choosing" it. This is a product to recommend to anyone with a cabinet that needs ventilation, and it definitely is the product I was looking/hoping for!
The fan is of high quality. The grates are flush to the flat surroundings. The unit is quite beautiful to look at. The usb plug for power is nice and long and there is a daisy chain usb plug present also.Is the fan quiet? Yes it is quiet. How quiet? Well, the fan is of high enough pitch to make an audible whirring noise in a quiet room. If your refrigerator is in the adjacent room, it would easily drown out the noise of this fan. If you are watching TV, you probably won't hear it at all. If you walk into the room in the dead of night, yes, you will most definitely hear it and it will seem loud.I am currently using this fan to cool an entertainment cabinet/built in (measures 4x4x2.5 feet tall) that houses way too much equipment. If you walk into the room in the dead of night, yes, you will most definitely hear it and it will seem loud.I am currently using this fan to cool an entertainment cabinet/built in (measures 4x4x2.5 feet tall) that houses way too much equipment. Residing in this space: moca adapter, network switch, VOIP device, cordless phone base, wireless router, cable modem, home server (4 hdd), backup device (4dd), and a htpc. I got tired of dusting my equipment and cleaning inside the computers so I am using this fan to create a positive pressure environment so that there is no dust entering the cabinet. Air only EXITS the cabinet from any cracks/holes for plugs or cables/around the cabinet door. The air ENTERING the cabinet is pulled in by the fan through a disposable filter which is held into place by the air flow and a plastic floor register type grille. Doesn't an air filter reduce the cfm of this fan? I am sure it does, but being rated at 100 cfm, this should be more than enough for my 40 cf area. Even if the fan only does 60cfm and takes a 70% efficiency hit due to the filter, the resulting 20 cfm should help change the air in my cabinet once ever 2 minutes - in a perfect scenario. So does it work? With everything idle, the cabinet is 2-3 deg F higher than room temperature. With everything on, the temperature is 10-12 degrees above room temperature. With the usual equipment on, it is about 8 degrees higher than room temperature. In summer with the room temperature around 78, I am hoping this setup with keep my cabinet under 90 degrees. One note of caution...I initially plugged this fan into the USB port of my router and found that it caused by router to reboot. I have since attached the usb/plug adapter that comes with the fan and plugged it directly into the surge protector. I have had no further issues with the router rebooting.
The fan came with everything needed. It has mounting screws long enough to mount it in drywall or a 3/4" wood panel. It has a hard plastic template for cutting the opening and drilling the mounting screws. It has clear, easy instructions. It took me half an hour to install.I connected the USB plug that powers the fan to a spare USB port on the back of my home theater reciever. The standard USB port will power two of this double-fan unit, or one of these and two single-fan units. They daisy-chain together, so only one USB port is needed. The fans can be reversed in the housing to blow the other way, if necessary. The unit can be clearly seen through the glass doors of the lighted cabinet, and it looks great. It is as quiet as any of this kind of muffin fan ever is. It makes about the same noise as a desktop computer fan. Mounted on the back of my entertainment center cabinet, I can't hear it, even with all the equipment turned off.I will buy this fan again when I need another.
The best part about these fans, for me anyways, is that it plugs in by USB or wall socket. No splicing of wires needed. The fact that it has different speeds, the higher of which blows a LOT of air, and the clean look of them, is just a bonus. I used them in a photo booth box that I built, and these fans will definitely keep everything cool. Pic attached for review. The only hiccup was that they are set up to blow the air outwards, from the box, so I had to take out a couple of screws, flip the fans so the blow the other way, and put the screws back in. 5 minutes and they are perfect. I have a larger booth that I will need fans for, so I will definitely be ordering more of these, and have already shared the link with several of other photo booth companies I know. ... MoreThe best part about these fans, for me anyways, is that it plugs in by USB or wall socket.
