I was looking for a simple solution to help move trapped hot air from above my Xbox Series X, out of the IKEA Kallax cabinet I have it in. With such limited space (~1.5 between console and shelf ceiling), the Multifan S2 fit the bill- PERFECTLY.Coupled with the optional thermal trigger controller, and plugged into a rear USB port on the console, the setup is elegantly simple AND effective. I went ahead and built a simple mount to attach the Multifan S2 to the shelf ceiling, centered above the console, but Im confident it would work just as well sitting directly on top of the console.I have the fan speed controller set to High and unless I really listen hard (I sit ~8 feet from the console/fan), I cant hear it over the compressor/fan on my fridge 20 feet away!

The good: It works, it's quiet, The bad: poor design results in some of the air coming back out the inlet. This is because the case is too small for the fan inside. there should be a decent gap between the fan blades and the outer wall to allow the air to be directed out the side(outlet). but there's almost no gap on one side of the outlet and the gap on the other is not quite big enough, resulting in air being pushed back out the bottom(inlet). All in all it's okay and works for what i bought it for. I'm just a little nitpicky considering I've seen my share of blowers and none of them sent air back out the inlet like this one does.

Great for tightly-packed hi-fi components.

Had to configure the firmware to enable the rear USB, as the front was defaulted, it can't power both. There's an inline switch to set the speed of the fan. I wouldn't run it on high speed, it has plenty of power but you pay for that with more noise. Being powered from the amp, the fan switches off when the amp goes off. There's also an outward USB socket to add a second unit, which I intend to do as there's another linked solid state slave amp that needs to be cooled. This appears to be a well-made product, and does run smoothly.

Great solution for AV cabinet
30 October 2019

Foxtel set top box runs hot while operating but even on standby it's produces a lot of heat. The S2 multi fan does a brilliant job of being able to vent the AV cabinet without having to mount a fan into the cabinet. Operating temperature of Foxtel vastly improved as has the ambient temperature of the entire cabinet ensuring all equipment in the cabinet is operating well below maximum tolerances. Great investment to guarantee optimum performance and protection of AV equipment when stored in a cabinet.

Great solution for heat management
15 February 2017

I have several AC infinity fans and a controller already running built in to my closed cabinet which houses my AVR, amplifiers, cable and ps4 among other things. I use this one to sit on top of my marantz receiver and kick on with the rest of the system when the temp gets past the set point. It works great as a whole to keep the temperature down from around 80 without, to 72 when running. Very quiet fans make hardly any noise, can hardly hear even when sound is muted. I would not hesitate to buy more when needed or recommend to a friend.

Great units for unconventional shaped amps
10 February 2019

Using a 12 tube amp in a semi-closed enclosure was a real problem because of the heat the unit generated. After finding AC Infinity on line, their units looked like they could do the job of moving hot air as it was generated out of the cabinet without noticeable noise. The problem was that the amp has externally mounted tubes, so very little place to set an Aircom type unit with front exhaust. Called AC Infinty and explained my situation. The tech service group was great at finding the right product which I had not really noticed on the site which were the small blower units that had a small enough footprint to sit over the vents of the transformer coils and move the hot air out of the cabinet while at the same time taking care of the heat being generated by the ... MoreUsing a 12 tube amp in a semi-closed enclosure was a real problem because of the heat the unit generated. The tech service group was great at finding the right product which I had not really noticed on the site which were the small blower units that had a small enough footprint to sit over the vents of the transformer coils and move the hot air out of the cabinet while at the same time taking care of the heat being generated by the tubes in front. The Intelligent Thermal controller allowed me to set a top temperature and only increase the speed of the fan as the temperature increased. Before these units, the cabinet temperature would hit 40-50 degrees above ambient in about an hour and limit the listening time for fear of damaging the circuits. With two of the S2 connected and operating in smart mode, the unit took three hours to increase by 20 degrees over ambient and I never noticed the sound of the fans (nor did my wife which was more important). The units were shipped same day I ordered them and arrived packed like a component you might pay ten times more for. Setup instructions were easy to follow and the cords were long enough to allow for placement anywhere I wanted to put the controller.I would say that in an open front cabinet, operating at full speed (setting = 6)they are noticeable if you are within 10 feet. But at settings below 5 they are hard to hear even within arms length. If there is something quieter out there, I was not able to find it. Great product and great company.

Multi fan S2
7 February 2018

Very nice product, placed fan on top of my amplifier located on the bottom of my audio rack. Since this fan exhausts to the side, it is perfect to remove and direct air out the front of my rack. I am controlling the fan from an Acinfinity T9, which sits at the top of my rack. Setup was simple, the S2 is very stable and just sits atop my amplifier. I just plugged it into my T9 via of one the rear USB ports- works perfectly!High quality, low noise, this is a great design.

Quiet blower
3 December 2020

I purchased 4 of these blowers to be used in conjunction with the Controller 8 system. As soon as I unboxed items, I immediately noticed how well everything was packed. After unboxing, I connected blowers to the Controller 8 and I was very impressed on how quiet the blowers are, and the smooth operation. The selector switch, & the added USB receptacle is a nice touch to the product.

These things last and last and work so very very well
14 July 2020

Several years back I built a media rack in my hallway closet, love having everything out of sight and mind. However I quickly discovered a heat issue and I first tried AC Infinity MULTIFAN S1, and they do work well, however I did have height limitations and after a year or so dust would win and they would stop spinning. I replaced those with these bad boys and they have been running ever since. I bought the 1st one in June of 2017 and it is still working today as well as it was the day it was installed. I have bought another one of the in Jan 2018 and it to is still going strong. Well worth the money if you ask me. Just wish they were still in stock at Amazon.

excellent USB Blower fan
3 May 2017

Has excellent power on all 3 modes. Does have a little bit of a noise on high, but it wouldn't be noticeable in an entertainment system. Can be powered by any 5v 500mA power supply. whether that be a phone charger with usb or a portable power bank. works fine and feels solid. cord is good quality. also like that it can be chained together to have multiple fans on one controller. All in all, a very handy and useful fan that can be used almost anywhere that there is a hotspot and not enough room to fit a normal 120mm fan.
