2 Infinity Fans keep my laptop happy

Aside: you will need a Phillips screwdriver to attach the grilles and feet. With gentle torque, the feet stay on just fine. The grommet design allows you to place the fans flat or on edge. You could drive longer screws straight through the corners of the chassis if you are mounting to a cabinet.

I purchased a 120mm CMWS brand fan a few months ago, which by the way is the same exact fan as the 120mm coolerguys fan. It has the cooler guys logo right on the fan hub. Then I purchased 2 of these AC Infinity fans. In comparing both brands, in my opinion, the AC is a better quality fan and a better value. My reasons how I came to that conclusion are; the AC infinity has a much longer cord, a spare USB port, a power switch, the bearing life is much longer, it comes with 2 grilles to give you the option to use it standing up, lower power consumption yet higher airflow, and an AC adapter. Side by side, the AC Infinity's airflow is noticeably higher. The CMWS/coolerguys fan lists a lower noise level, but I could not hear any difference. On acinfinity.com, the price is 13.99 with a flat rate shipping of $6.00, whether you buy 1 or 50 fans. I listed the specifications for both below from each brand's website. I believe the numbers and features speak for themselves.

I have a router that overheats causing major signal output and streaming issues. Someone on a forum suggested the 120mm USB cooling fan. Apparently he had the same issues and these did the trick for him. I use one for the base blowing upward and the other drawing out the hot air. Well shazam! No more bad signal. Works like a charm. Going to get some more for my son's computer. Who knew....

Fantastic

Ordered three of these: one for my cabinet, one for my router, and one for another device in my house. They're of solid construction, and the rubber mounts make them ideal for putting them on top of stuff. Additionally, the fact that they can be either powered by a USB port or the provided plug adapter makes it extremely convenient for anyone who wants to go either route. For some devices, you don't actually want to use a USB port, as the power draw could negate the cooling you're trying to do. Luckily, that's what the plug adapter is there for. I haven't used the devices' feature to be daisy-chained together, but I imagine it could be very useful for larger setups. In terms of actual performance, the fans do their job well. They significantly cool the devices (or areas) I want them to cool, and do so with minimal noise. My router runs a bit hot, but I didn't want to try and physically mod it to attach a heatsink or some other cooling solution. Being able to just plop one of these fans on top and still get a lot of mileage out of is great. Additionally, the ability to turn off/on each fan individually is a great convenience. I really don't need them to be on all the time, and being able to turn them off without unplugging them is ideal. I hate devices that you can only turn off by unplugging it.My only warning for any prospective buyers is to be aware of the increased amount of dust. You'll need to clean these regularly, like you should with any fan really.

Great fans, wish they were currently available

These fans are fantastic. When I bought them they were cheaper than any other comparable product, and perform extremely well. Everything about these fans is surprising for the price, from the quality of the package, to the airflow, to the complete lack of noise. I use these sitting atop my AVR in a relatively tight cabinet, and I can only tell they're on when they are spinning down after I turn everything off. Right now my only real complaint is that they are no longer available on Amazon, at least at the time I wrote this.Pros:-Extremely quiet-Excellently packaged, lots of extras, like AC to USB adapter, grilles for both sides, isolator pads for both sides-Very low price-Lots of airflowCons:-Not available on Amazon right now. If these were available again, I would buy at least one pair, maybe 3 or 4.

Nice and Quiet, but not enough air flow for me
15 July 2014

I recently lost my Epson projector to heat damage after 5 years. It didn't dawn on me that I the reason I was only getting 500-800 hours per bulb instead of 2000-4000 rated was due to not enough air flow to the back of the projector where it sucks in cool air from the back and blows it out the front. The projector was mounted on a shelf pushed against the wall - but the back is where it draws in the air. I bought this fan and mounted it to a 3 foot PVC pipe in such a way that it draws air from outside the shelf into to the back of the shelf where the projector is against the wall. I read a lot of details on different fans, and this one rated at 60 CFM and quiet seemed to be the best fit for the job. I like that it comes with rubber feet and grills which allows for a multitude of mounting options, but when attached to a 2 foot 3 inch round PVC tube, it just doesn't suck in enough air to the back of the projector in a confined space. Pucker your lips and blow quietly and softly - that's ALL the air this thing moves. Nice and quiet, good for many purposes, and I will use it for something else, but not enough to draw enough air to cool my projector on a shelf pushed against a wall. Need to find something 2-3 times more airflow but still fairly quiet, likely have to spend more $$

Quiet, blows or sucks, your choice, built to last!

These fans have some undeserved less than stellar reviews. Some say they don't blow much air, okay, but they are designed not to use a lot of power (you can run 4 of them off one USB jack), and although they won't blow you over, they are very quiet and do add significant cooling to your equipment. Another review complained about the screws used to mount the rubber feet and fan guards. If you follow directions and don't run the screws in too tightly, they work just fine. I didn't use the guards but I did try installing them - no problems, thought he screws don't have enough length to go deep into the plastic mounting holes, they go in far enough.Well made, and when used as intended, work quietly to help cool your electronic's innards. I mounted two of these fans on the top of an Onkyo audio visual receiver that's installed in a mostly closed cabinet. The cabinet has a single 120 mm 110 VAC fan to pull in cooling air (which does make a small amount of noise but not noticeable when equipment cabinet door is closed). These fans increase air circulation and improve cooling efficiency dropping temperature in the cabinet by 5 degrees.Wiring is simple, just plug the first fan into the AVR's USB socket, then the next fan plugs into the first. Both turn on with the receiver automatically.

These fans are worth evey penny!
1 August 2018

I have two of these now. The first one I purchased to cool my Linksys WRT1900ACSv2 Router which ran at around 83C. After purchasing this and putting it on top of the router drawing air up through the bottom of the router my temperature is around 61C. That's a huge drop in temp.22 Centigrade equals 71.6 degree FARENHEIT drop in temperature and that is running the fan on the medium speed setting which is still quiet. The second fan I purchased for my H96 MAX media player which uses a Rockchip 3399. This box runs hot and was causing my Antutu score to be 65000. After using the second fan placing the media player on top of the fan blowing air up though the bottom of the media player my Antutu score jumped to 105000. Just from the cooling of the fan. Works great, but the screws are too short
2 August 2014

I truly wish I could give this product 5 stars. It is a great fan, and fully meets my needs, but it's not quite as described. The picture shows both grill and rubber feet installed on both sides at the same time. This is not possible. The screws included are too short, and can only be used to install the grill or the feet, but not both. I put the feet on the intake side (bottom), and the grill on the exhaust side (top), and laid it down flat on top of my Xbox 360 to pull heat up and out. It does the job beautifully, and quietly. There is an arrow, to indicate the direction of airflow. If you are not sure, you can turn it on and hold a tissue near it. The description says it can be used upright, but in order to do this, it needs longer screws. This is not a difficult problem for the manufacture to solve, and I would gladly pay a little more for the proper size screws if I buy more in the future. I bought 3 so far...

added protection......

If you value your electronics like I do, these quiet little fan's will cool down your receiver, playstation, xbox, modem box, computer, ect. any device that could use some extra air flow. I have 3 of these unit's in use, right now, on my electronic's and will be ordering 2 more just to keep all my devices in "cool mode".
