I'm sorry to report that this unit is not helping in my single story, ranch style home. I'm guessing it is due to the walls since this house is not an open concept. I wish I could have reported better results.

This item caused me hours of aggravation before I completely abandoned. Closing it down was an issue. I am still (6 months later) having difficulty connecting one of my network printers. Bad experience. Sorry to have to give such a report.

Like all repeaters it will slow your WiFi speed however it's size more than makes up for the delays caused by lost signal by making it easy to place for the ideal signal. The instructions are a bit confusing but after it was figured out, it is very reliable. And it is through the device I am writing this product review. If the instructions were a little better, it would get 5 Stars. With that being said, once it is up and running then you're past the 4 Star part and into 5 Star territory.

Does the job once programmed. I could not get it to program (set-up) itself acording to WiFi instructions provided. I hard wired it to ether-net and it was easy to set up. Unplugged it, moved it to where it was of most benefit, and it performs as expected. Do not expect this device to speed up your lower speed internet. It only improves reception further away from your primary WiFi transmitter, which maintains your present performance. It does a good job of that. That was what I expected, and it works well. Caution, it does seem to get a bit warm.
The item was easy to set up. It basically makes another access point with the same name as current access point but with an AC designation after it. Connecting to it does help with the connection, but the problem I am having is that slows ALL of my other devices down drastically that are connected to my original wifi. (the one without the AC designation) Also you have to be in fairly close proximity of the extender for it to give a good connection. Not too impressed as I thought I would only lose a little wifi performance on my original connection. It's now as bad as the dead spot I bought the extender for. Go figure.
I have to keep logging into the extender to do the set up again and again and again. The Wavlink representative recommended installing a new firmware. After sending me the link to the firmware download site, I installed the firmware. Then the extender started to constantly drop the connection to the router. Its a buggy device that does not work as advertised.
I was extremly satisfied. The product was shipped fast and super easy to setup. We live in an old house with thick walls and there's basically no open space to put the modem/router. The download speed of our internet is supposed to be 20Mb/s, I was getting about 10 to 15 Mb/s downstairs and 0.2 Mb/s upstairs. So I got this extender and set it up in less than 15 minutes and now I'm getting up 18 Mb/s download speed both downstairs and upstairs! Just a reminder that these extenders are not magic, so if you are not getting the results you were expecting check out your router setting and many other factors that affect the internet speed.
Quality product. Well built. Compact. Contains latest features including dual band, repeater and extender capabilities. The led indicator is quite useful, showing blue for strongest reception, yellow for 50% strength, etc. Comes in black or white (I chose white.) Setup was easy: just push the WPS button on your router, then push the button on the Wavlink AC1200, wait a few seconds for the two devices to connect, then plug the Wavlink into an outlet within your dead zone. I'm able to bridge the gap between my garage and the home router using the Wavlink, in order to operate the garage door opener from my iPhone.
It helped somewhat with my RING DOORBELL. This is why I bought the WAVLINK. I had delays and bad video from the RING. The WAVLINK has improved it some, but I am still getting delays and bad video at times. I have it approximately 1/2 way (approx. 20' to each.) between the router and RING. Perhaps I'll try it closer to the RING.
I brought this unit to be used as a reaper in my basement. I plugged it in my switch and it came up with full power. To change the name of the Wi-Fi, I had to shut down my Wavlink router. You have to use the address 192.168.10.1 to access the repeater. I change the id, but no pass word since its in my basement. The speed of my router was 40 MBS, and with the repeater its 65 MBS. Netflix picture is excellent. I would buy this unit again.
