I purchased this base because when I place the scale on my drip tray it never really found a good location to stay and was always sliding around or getting hung up on the grip strips. This keeps it flush across the surface making it easier to grab and move. It feels like there is a significant increase in the weight which does give it a more durable feeling than before.

After owing the Lunar 2021 for a few months and noticing how wet the bottom was after every shot I decided to buy one of these. It was easy to install and address the issue for the most part. They should include a rubber plug for the USB C port (I bought one on Amazon) and a new set of anti-slip strips as the scale slides all over the place without them.

For the price of the scale, this should be included. There are more improvements than disappointments with this item but lots of room for improvement. The bumper could be a bit taller to make it easier to pick up the scale which was easier before adding this. A new rubber cover should be provided because the stock Lunar one interferes with the bumper. Slides well on the drip tray and prevents interference with the back of the machine. However, the Lunar doesn't look as nice because of the plastic finish and holes.
Good protection for the scale..a must if you want to keep it for a long time.The service with idrink coffee was perfect, fast shipping and perfectly packaged..
Great add-on but wish it were included in the already expensive scale. The portafilter rest of the heat resistant pad if turned flat will touch the edge of the base plate. Need to space it to avoid it from touching edge of the plate and affecting the accuracy of the scale.
A great product, that is easy to install, and functions really well. A must have if your scale gets moved around a lot!
I just recently received the base. I had previously read somewhere that the base being made out of plastic, was very slippery and I concur with that assessment. On my kitchen countertop which is laminate, it's like the thing was on skates on an ice surface, and I assume that the result will be the same in other polished surfaces such a granite and quartz. Acaia should either redesign the base or provide an anti-slip kit of some kind. If someone is interested in buying mine at a discount, leave a comment pls.
Must have if you use while pulling a shot and have a smaller drip tray. Also allows you to have it slightly off the tray while still working flawless. Worth the money IMO. However, it does NOT protect the USB port anymore than without it so I would recommend a plug.
The only thing I dislike about it, is that the stock silicon heat protection pad that comes with the Lunar does not sit well with the base upgrade kit. There is a small lip near the new base that the edge of the pad will rest on so the pad has to be used pushed off to the side a bit, or upside down. Not a huge deal, but something that I definitely think should have been accounted for in a $50+ item. However, the base upgrade kit is much more substantial than I thought it would be. I was pleasantly surprised overall.
