Substrate is obtained from natural soil through a special process High humic and nutrient content Contains less nitrogen compared to ADA Aqua Soil Amazonia Less cloudy water during initial set-up period (without supplement) Nutrient situation even better with the Amazonia Supplement Helps to lower the hardness level of the water Reduction of the pH-value to 5.5 - 6.5, the optimal range for plants Facilitates the absorption of nutrients by plants For ADA's Soil Amazonia Ver.2 100% natural black soil is used as raw material. It is perfect for creating an underwater landscape that is very close to the South American rainforest. It offers a high humic and nutrient content and is also suitable for harder tap water. A high pH value of the soil substrate makes it difficult for aquatic plants to absorb nutrients. Substrates from the Aqua Soil series reduce the hardness of the water and lower the pH to a level where most aquatic plants can absorb the nutrients they need for thriving. The enclosed Amazonia Supplement improves the nutrient situation of the soil even further, so that the plants have particularly excellent growth conditions at their disposal. The Aqua Soil granules retain their shape and density under water for a long time, thus ensuring the circulation of water and oxygen through the substrate. The Aqua Soil substrate makes it easier to care for difficult-to-cultivate plants such as Tonina or Syngonanthus. It is also ideal for aquarium inhabitants who prefer soft water, such as Apistogramma and various species of dwarf shrimp. The Amazonia Supplement is supplied in a special bag; 50 ml for the 9 litre version and 16 ml for the 3 litre version. The Soil can also be used without the supplement, and then behaves like the Aqua Soil - Amazonia II, which does not cause turbid water.

As a bargain shopper I ordered this with some reservation. After only a short while I am convinced that this was worth every penny. It appears to be a manufactured substrate, though from natural soil sources according to the bag. No rinsing means that none of the nutrient value is lost and the water clears surprisingly fast. Plants seem to thrive just as ADA claims. Based on my experience I can highly recommend this product.

Just what I suspected to receive. At first I had some floating plants, but was able to replant them. Everything is new to me in this hobby ;-)

This aqua soil works great for plants. The granules were a lot smaller than I had thought, but that is a good thing. Makes planting even the smallest and most delicate plants very easy.

This is by far the best substrate out there!! Aquaforest did great job shipping to got it fast. A++
I had bought a Fluval EBI to put some shrimp in and it came with Fluval soil substrate. I thought it was okay as it was the first substrate Id ever used. For my 15 gallon cube I wanted Amazonia and ordered it from AFA. The difference is night and day and I’m so glad I went this route.Having seen both, Amazonia is slightly moist and a deeper brown. There wasn’t much silt either. The price, including shipping, is on par with any other brand substrate you can get and this stuff is superior—believe the hype! Thanks AFA for selling this and shipping so quickly.
Upgraded from an inert substrate to this and I wish I had made the jump sooner. All of my plants are thriving now thanks to how well this substrate works with not only supplying plants with nutrients, but in it's ability to buffer water to what many plant species prefer. Definitely worth the price!
Purchased the aqua soil for my 60P tank. The whole bag was used and it filled about 2 inches of the tank but I also have rocks and driftwood at the bottom. My plants are looking healthier now compared to before when I was using inert soil and root tabs. The leaves are greener and there are rarely any dead leaves floating at the top, which wasn't the case before I used the aqua soil. The soil comes with with a small bag of nutrient supplements but I have not used that yet. I've had the soil in the tank for about 6 weeks now and have no issues. It took about 10 days with daily water changes to get the amonia, nitrite and nitrates down to an acceptable level. The soil is light but will not float and can still be gravel vacuumed. The only annoying part for me was at the beginning when there was quite a bit of debris that was floated to the top but once that was removed, everything was fine. The water was also cloudy at first but cleared up in a several hours.
Maybe It's just my luck but this is the worst decision I made when I bought this. All it has done is made my tank a whitish and brownish tint something is leaching from the soil. After two days you can't even see the fish unless they are right by the glass. And this has been going on for a month and a half now. Tried contacting aqua forest twice now by email and no response. I would say they have horrible customer service as well but I think they have to respond to you too classify for that. Highly do not recommend product or doing business with aqua forest.
Even though the Ver. 2 is slightly different from the original, I still think it's the best soil for aquascaping. I actually like the granual size of the ver.2 better than the original. They are a little smaller and the soil seems like it fills in a little better.
Purchased this due to there not being any regular Amazonia available. This is not Black. The description makes it sound like it’s dark black, but it’s more of a dark brown. 1 week after replacing my substrate with this my plants are gaining color and growing new shoots. Couldn’t be happier.
