"One-Stop-Shop" For Road Running!

I’ve used this shoe as an every day trainer up to long distances (13-23 miles). Compared to the Boston 10 and 11, the 12’s have a different shape, stack height, feel compared to Boston 10 and 11. Everything from the aesthetic profile of the shoe to it’s responsiveness and spring makes it an ideal shoe for a daily trainer up to a full marathon. I wouldn’t use this shoe for anything longer than a 26 mile run, but it has proven to be a one-stop-shop for short/fast to long/slow distances and pace. I love the versatility. There is a better responsiveness from a “step and feel” as they’ve reapplied the same technologies from their high-end racing shoes as each stride step roll through the foot and pops off on every stride. I think this speaks to the combination of midsole compounds in the Light Strike Pro in the forefoot and Light Strike 2.0 through the heel and midfoot. Having the carbon rod segment going from the heel and splaying out into 5 rods interacting with each toe instead of a full plate makes the shoe lightweight yet still durable. I would not use this shoe for any type of trail or off-road running, its not designed to for durability on trail surface conditions.I believe the shoe size is true to fit. I thought it was too long for my 11.5 size foot, but the shoe does narrow down at the toe box and if I went a half size smaller, my pinky toes would have been pinched. At first, I thought I was not going to like how thin the tongue material is. However, Adidas engineered in a thick/durable "eye let" system where the laces do not create pressure points as they cross over the top of your foot.

A great fitting street runner for the long haul

I wanted to put some real miles on these before submitting my review and after a little over a week running with them I think I have a new favorite road runner. These are the first pair of Adidas that I have trained in but I can say that out of the box I felt that they fit and felt better than my other running shoes. The fit is great, I have size 13 feet and I often feel like running shoes leave a lot to be desired in the size of the toe box. Typically when I run down hill my toes scrape the front or top of the shoes in a really uncomfortable way and that just wasn't an issue with the Boston 12. My local runs take me up and down hundreds of feet so a minor rub or pinch is not an insignificant issue over a number of miles. The mesh upper breathes very well and have just a little stretch so that when you lace up the thin tongue of the shoe you get that really nice snug but not-too-tight feeling through the middle. The heel is lightly padded which I prefer as I can be sensitive to contact there. I will say that the materials inside might be a little scratchy in an ultra thin sock but in both cheap cotton and my name brand merino wool running socks I was quite comfortable. Having not tried the older model Boston shoes I didn't have a frame of reference but the Energyrod 2.0 tech that Adidas is marketing for these shoes does seem to have a very positive effect on my performance. The feeling of transfer of energy from the ground strike to the lift is noticeable and I can honestly say the feeling made me want to keep going. The Boston 12 felt stable and sturdy without being heavy and after long runs I didn't feel like I had been battling gravity which is high praise for a heavy runner like myself. Ultimately I think the thing that I love about the Boston 12 is that when I see them sitting with my other gear I want to put them on and go running.

New runner and I've been looking for a shoe that can handle different paces/distances. Boston 12 is not a perfect shoe because it is a little unstable compared to something like Hoka Mach 5 and the lacing system makes it harder to step into than other shoes. Once the shoe is on though it's a nice fit. I have wide feet and the toe box is roomy if I go half a size up from my regular shoes. Mesh is not super plush but it's very breathable and the plastic up front is very soft where I don't notice it with running socks on. This shoe is FUN to run in but also handled my snail's pace runs well!TL;DR: Buy this if you want a do-it-all shoe. Thank me later.

Funky fit, but like a cloud
6 July 2023

Considering I haven't bought new running shoes in 2 years, these are just lovely! They have a lot of support and cushion, makes me feel like I'm walking and running in a cloud. Though, it may be a bit too much. They feel like platform sneakers and I honestly feel a smidge unstable on them.I've had some problems with the fit of the shoe. It's very loose in the heel, and upon re-lacing to pull that heel tighter, I'm left with nearly no laces to tie with. These are the first running shoes that haven't made my toes go numb, so that's a major plus! I also love how breathable they are! I'm a very sweaty person, so having very breathable fabric is very important to me.Overall, these are pretty lovely shoes! All my complaints are fairly minor inconveniences.

They are very nice looking, and feel great over multiple miles.

Great stable running sole!
21 June 2023

Upon receiving this item I loved the look of the shoe. The sole is so wide and has two different shades of white which gives it a platform look. You can tell the design and thickness of the sole helps with the shock when running on concrete or streets. I took this shoe out for a 5 mile walk with average incline (1000 ft). The feel of the shoe/sole was consistent when walking on the street vs walking on the side walk. The tongue of the shoe never moved which is usually a problem I have with shoes. Only downside to this is if you tighten too much, even after my 5 mile walk there was no loosening up of the laces and I eventually had to stop to loosen them up since my feet felt tight. When on the stair master I felt stable and in control of my steps. I think this shoe is a great running shoe for averaging 3-9 miles.I will add that the contour of the midsole was a little off for my foot, and even when standing straight up I felt naturally my weight was less stable towards the back of the sole. However when in movement I felt this shoe to be stable. I think this shoe to me works more as a combination of running and HITT trainings which is always nice when I do not have to switch out shoes.

The good news is that there was no bad news, yes the lacing was still there, but that could be personal preference, and the shoe didn't feel as flexible but again this could be bedding in, and no doubt will feel more comfortable after putting more miles in.Overall pretty pleased with the purchase, and I would recommend them.

My new favorite road running shoes
24 June 2023

I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. I think these are my new favorite road running shoes! They’re super light but provide great support. I have really high arches and normally I have to put custom inserts in but so far they’ve been fantastic without the inserts! The material is super breathable and fits really well around my foot (the tongue sits perfectly so it doesn’t rub weird on my ankle). I normally hate running on asphalt because it’s rough on my shins and knees but I haven’t had that issue with these! They have wonderful cushion that puts a nice little spring in your stride. 10/10 would recommend.

Thick cushioning for road runs
2 July 2023

With now about 50 miles on these shoes, they remind me a lot of the road Hokas I typically use. They have thick cushioning with fast recoil. The rubber outsole seems very thin, but shows virtually no wear and has excellent grip on wet pavement.I did not take these off of sidewalks and streets, but suspect they would not do well. The tread has very shallow depths without dedicated lugs. I found this resulted in really good traction in the rain on roads, but would easily fill with mud on a trail. My only real concern was the upper, I found it stiff and a bit narrow in the toe box. For a road shoe, I prefer much more ventilation, as I found my foot sweating more than usual with these.
