18v Heat Gun: easy to use, takes abit to shrink heat shrink,Fairly Heavy with a 6.0AH battery

This heat gun is very convenient, not quite as hot as I thought it might be, but great for my intended use, which is mostly heatshrink and the occasional decal. It is a bit hungrier on batteries than I expected, I suppose the combination of heating the element and the fan is chewing a few amps. At first I found the trigger safety latch annoying, but I got used to it quickly. All in all I am very happy with it, very portable and easy to grab for a quick job.

Very handy for those jobs where no 240v power is available. Reaches temps for most applications very quickly. Would be handy if it had more than one fan speed.

Brought it as I wanted to use it on heatshrink, it does the job eventually but takes to long.
I was hoping that eventually someone and in this case AEG thankfully brought this product onto the market. Every so often I need to work in a work environment where the electrical mains have to be switched off and a generator to produce the voltage for a corded heat gun is not always on site. Besides on many occasions a corded tool is a nuisance and gas powered equipment has it's own downsites when it comes to the relevant applications.Ok, to be fair, this 18V AEG heat gun takes slightly longer as any 240V equivalent on the job but that is expected. The fact, that I usually carry quite a few other AEG 18V tools with me at work and therefore have enough batteries on site anyway makes the additional usage of this newby a no brainer. The fact, that I usually carry quite a few other AEG 18V tools with me at work and therefore have enough batteries on site anyway makes the additional usage of this newby a no brainer. I say this also because if you need to use the heat gun for longer as you might have to shrink heaps of shrinking tubes, put at least another fully charged battery aside. This tool has no hook attached to it and when I took this heat gun out of it's box for the first time, I was briefly wondering why. As an educated guess I think you are safer that way as the tool tip becomes naturally very hot when in use and stays so for quite some time even after usage. (That is the nature of any heat gun) If anyone hangs it, while still hot around his waist-clip, tool rig, might accidentally get hurt that way. This heat gun can not be turned on by chance as it requires a push up leaver simultaneously with the trigger leaver. Additionally you can push a side switch to keep the heat gun permanently running and you have both hands free for that kind of job.The grip of the gun is also good and the overall weight is fine depending in parts of what size battery you want to attach. The gun comes also with two types of nozzle attachment and I couldn't be happier.AEG,- well done!
So handy being battery powered, can take anywhere. Does use as much battery as I thort, great tool to my kit
I’ve had this 18v heat gun for about three weeks now. I was so excited to hear they were producing one as all my other tools I have are with AEG !Unfortunately this heat gun doesn’t meet my standards due to only going up to 480degrees . Others I’ve seen are around 580 degrees . I use this for plumbing and it take about 5-7minutes to heat up a 50 ml class 9 pipe so I can bend it into place . If I need to use class 12 pipe and on a cool day, the pipe cools down before I get to heat up both sides so I’m forever chasing my tail . I have to go back to my cored heat gun on most occasions still. I only use this 18v heat gun on pipe 25 ml and below in diameter now. Really disappointing I should have tested this before purchasing. Really wasted my money on this tool . ... MoreI’ve had this 18v heat gun for about three weeks now. This sling will get you out of trouble for a small job but if you need penetrating heat the it takes a while to get there
It lacks the punch of 240v equivalents. Feels nice to use and is light weight, but i would rather trade some of that for more air flow.
Waiting for this product for so long as it’s such a great handy tool
