AEOTEC SmartThings hub V3

I purchased the hub to aid compatibility with Z-Wave and Zigbee devices. Working well so far. I've connected door/window sensors and hooked up with the KOnnected Alarm panel. It works smoothly with no issues. I connected the supplied ethernet cable to our WIFI router but works equally well without. The build quality is excellent and the set-up was fast and easy. Would recommend this product.

Battery power as a fallback is not supported anymore.

The hub can be used with a range of security related actuators and sensors. Lack of battery fallback means the customers have to provide it by some other means or it will be easier to circumvent such "security" installation.

Easy to use

Very easy to use and automations are pretty straightforward to set up. Integrates with z wave, wifi devices Andy alexa pretty seamlessly. There's a nice level of setup and forget but also accommodation for those who like to tinker a bit too!

Might be good in the future...
22 December 2022

Smartthings seem to be in the middle of a huge changeover to edge drivers. This is a good thing, because it means local control and no reliance on working internet. However, the z-wave drivers are very basic atm, and config parameters can't be easily edited. I'm having to write my own drivers for some devices. Hopefully this situation will improve next year.

OK but not as good as I expected.

I was recommended to get one of these by our electrician as we have a lot of smart tech on our home and so it was time to get a dedicated hub. This option seemed the best as it covered Zigbee and Zwave and WifiAlmost all of the items we have do not work with this hub however. Some will work but you still have to set up using the native app and then basically add a shortcut into the App. Our Meross Plugs were an example of this.So I still have to use SmartLift for some Lights, Tuyasmart for others, and 3 different apps for different WIFI Cameras (2 use CloudEdge, One is Adorcam and another is littlelf). Trying to like these aps with Smart-things has not worked as the products being controlled are not compatible.I had hoped it would all be under one app. I ... MoreI was recommended to get one of these by our electrician as we have a lot of smart tech on our home and so it was time to get a dedicated hub. This option seemed the best as it covered Zigbee and Zwave and WifiAlmost all of the items we have do not work with this hub however. I hope to get more compatible products in the future.

Samsung SmartThings
26 February 2021

Samsung SmartThings Hub V3 is as described in the description and works well. Easy setup then connected my ~20 or so devices to it (some on Zibgee, others through supported devices handlers, and then a few through custom device handers). All connected no problem with the devices from Yeelight, Aqara, Samsung Smartthings, IKEA, etc.User interface of the mobile app is intuitive and easy for all the family to use.Delivery was fast, package was sufficiently wrapped for shipping, and price was competitive to other online shops.

SmartThings HUB
15 September 2021

The device is small and easy to use. I am using a 3 hub and some sensors. Unfortunately, as it happens in life - maybe it is a matter of poor internet or router configuration, maybe a worse day - despite doing everything according to the instructions, the hub does not finish the configuration, you have to reset the hub many times for the installation of the hub to run correctly. The biggest problem is changing the internet settings - it is necessary to reconfigure the entire device and sensors connected to the device one more time. Overall rating 8/10. I propose to enable the connection to the hub and its configuration as it is with the Internet router- then I'll give 10/10

User interface
13 January 2021

The user interface is a bit ‘clunky’ and not configurable to reduce size with on/Off options for a mobile phone usage.I also cannot seem to create 2 or more schedules for the same day in the same week. This is available, even in the low end controllers.I will persevere as I want many more devices, but I need the option of a ‘Summary view’ with easy On/Off options.

good but lacks some important features
26 September 2021

I've been using the hub for a few weeks, it seems like a solid product but it's important to understand it's mostly good for supported devices and lacks a lot in customization. It is possible to code some kind of scripts for handling devices, but you can't make use of it to perform your own custom logic inside your network.if you want to do something as simple as send an internal network command - you just can't. which is VERY disappointing.I think an advanced user will end up needing to setup another local smart hub such as home assistant. then.. what do we have this for...?
