If you've ever wanted just a single cup of coffee but didn't want to make a pot, this is for you. It is incredibly simple and easy to use. Just follow the instructions and you will enjoy one of the smoothest cups of coffee you've ever had. This beats my French press by a mile. Absolutely no grounds in the cup. I use it primarily for making standard, American coffee, but you can also use it for Espresso, lattes, and cold brew coffee. Tired of drinking the coffee that most hotels serve with their complimentary breakfasts? All you need is to take some coffee and this along with you and use the hot water that the hotel provides for tea. Cleanup is a breeze. Just pop the grounds out and rinse. That's it! It's fast and simple. I strongly recommend buying the travel bag ... MoreIf you've ever wanted just a single cup of coffee but didn't want to make a pot, this is for you. I am on this site buying spare parts.I have used the Aeropress classic for about 5 years, 2 to 3 times a day. I follow the instructions and always keep the plunger separate from the barrel. The two Aeropress videos on this site use the word "durable". They are indeed robust in the sense of hard to break, but mine have seen deterioration over time, so I wouldn't quite say "durable".A major problem with first one after a couple of years was the barrel cracking deeply internally all over in a "crazy paving" pattern to the point where it would not seal, and I was concerned about plastic possibly leeching into the coffee. I sent photos to Aerobie, the Aeropress brand owners, and, to their credit, they acknowledged immediately that this was a manufacturing fault with some batches. They assured me that there was no risk of chemical leeching, and they mailed a replacement barrel and rubber seal without charge. After a couple more years, the replacement barrel also starting to crack internally at the filter basket end, although not as badly as the previous defective one.I find that the rubber seals shrink over time and need replacement about annually because their ability to seal fails, especially for using the "inverted" method (plunger underneath facing upwards) which is my preference. (You can apply a temporary fix by soaking the rubber end of the plunger in hot water for a minute or two before making coffee; this makes it expand a little.)The Aeropress classic is a well-designed product and easy to use and quick to clean, so I'll continue to use it, but in terms of the manufacturing quality I don't understand why the rubber seal and plastic barrel have issuses with only a few minutes' a day exposure to hot water. There are rubber seals that last 20 years in vehicles with harsher use and exposure to hydrocarbons that attack rubber, and there are plastic pipes that continuously carry hot liquids for years without cracking. Finally, although I carefully strive for reliability and repeatability of technique, and having watched many videos on how to use it, I still find that every cup of coffee out of the Aeropress is different, and about one in ten is undrinkable. My ideal would be a coffee as strong and flavourful as a cup of expresso, but I rarely achieve anything near it. Also, the standard formula of 60 grams of coffee per litre of water I find far too weak in the Aeropress (observe the coffee liquid colour in the videos - it's very light), and I find I need to use about double that amount. It's a constant battle between under-extraction and over-extraction of the coffee.

Over time, the plunger pressure lessened. (My technique is to use a rhythm of presses versus long, sustained, heavy ones.) When the unit was new, it took around 25 presses to get the plunger to the bottom of the chamber. Now, it takes 15. And, occasionally, the pressure requires only one, firm press with little effort. I'm wondering if the rubber cap to the plunger loses its tight fit in the cylinder over time. Maybe that's the culprit. That, or the metal screen, which is now a tad warped and showing indentations. Whatever the reason, I've owned my Aeropress for just a little over a year, and I'm having to use twice as much coffee to attain the fullness that I want.

I purchased this on recommendation from a family member for an upcoming camping trip. It's light weight, small, easy to use, and makes a better cup of coffee than my k-cup. It's also a vast improvement over most hotel coffee makers. You can easily brew into a mug or thermos, and can do cold brew as well as hot. It comes with a pack of disposable paper filters (100?), filter dispenser, scoop, stir "key" and easy to follow directions. You have to provide the mug and a kettle or carafe to heat/pour water. It has directions for American and espresso-style coffee plus lattes and cold brew. I definitely would buy this again and plan on using it at home, not just on the road.
I don't think I am alone in this, but there are certain things that I like, stand for, and want in life. This, list, by no means exclusive, includes:- I like simplicity;- I like high-quality;- I like things that are infinitely reusable;- I like things that fit together perfectly;- I like things that just work;- I like things that are efficient - don't take a whole lot of space or time;- I like things that are made in and support the greatest country on Earth. The AeroPress with the 316 Stainless Steel Filter are all of these things. And depending on the coffee that you put through it, it also helps me create an amazing cup of coffee, sans any grounds.Thank you, AeroPress. As a product, you are PERFECT in my book. I normally don't leave reviews, but AeroPress makes me very happy so I will happily oblige to the request for a review .I'm someone who would like to start off a day with a good cup of latte, but I'm also lazy. If you are part of a camp that thinks these two can't coexist, skip this review. But if you are like me, read on.As I said, I'm lazy but my taste buds are alive and well so I care about the taste of my lattes. After some research, I've invested in a burr grinder and I also use freshly roasted coffee beans, but that's about the extent to which I'm willing to go. Since I am never going to buy an espresso machine, I've tried moka pots but was never satisfied with the taste of lattes I made with them. But with AeroPress, I am finally making a latte that I'm ... MoreI normally don't leave reviews, but AeroPress makes me very happy so I will happily oblige to the request for a review .I'm someone who would like to start off a day with a good cup of latte, but I'm also lazy. That tastes fresh. No more emergency runs to Starbucks, only to be disappointed by their stale-tasting lattes that tasted better in my head. Now I make an espresso-like shot with AeroPress every morning using Partners Brooklyn beans, add some frothed oatmilk from Trader's Joes, and I am happy as a clam. Thank you, Alan Adler, for the easiest-to-use and the best coffeemaker!!!
My husband has been using an aeropress for maybe a year or more and using a hand grinder. I’ve been using preground beans and a reusable K cup. I usually just use Dunkin coffee and often the decaf. My cups of coffee were usually lacking so I drowned it in creamer. But the aeropress ACTUALLY makes it taste like coffee and not coffee flavored water. I tried it for the first time about a month ago and I was hooked. Had to buy a second one. Had I known sooner what I was missing I would have ditched the k cup and jumped on the bandwagon sooner.
I’m drinking an AreoPress made coffee right now as I’m writing this, lol. :) I really enjoy my AeroPress Go so I just bought the Original too. I use them both interchangeably at home and even travel. Both Areopress work great either way. The Go is a little better for travel due to compact form factor. I suppose I’m a coffee enthusiast with coffee pot, pour-overs, French Press and Moka Pot. I enjoy them all and the variety of each. That’s another thing I enjoy about the AreoPress. Experiment with each individual step to adjust flavor for personal taste, or just use old faithful and go. Works well every time. Quality build. Well designed.
There are hardly any purchases that are this perfect. I am a coffee novice, having ventured into this wild and weird place about a year ago, and quickly buying up nearly every way to make coffee. I had this on my wishlist and put off buying it for about 8 months. I wish I had bought it first, because then I wouldn't be selling a cold brew maker, pour over makers, a drip coffee maker, etc. It took some coffee that I thought was horrible (I almost spit it out) and made it into a good cup of coffee. It's super easy to use, cleans up easily, and makes perfect coffee every time. It doesn't even take as long for my kettle to warm up because the brew temp is lower. If you've been putting off buying this, don't delay any longer. It is as revolutionary to coffee as his ... MoreThere are hardly any purchases that are this perfect. I finally broke down and bought the Aeropress. I have many coffee tools, my favorite is a simple pour over with a Melitta cone. Nothing fancy but it works great. After watching some YouTube videos regarding the Aeropress, I took the plunge (or press). I made three cups, Dunkin' Donuts house blend (very smooth), Seattle's Best Post Alley (very smooth and a bit roasty), and Sprouts Guatemalan (very smooth).I followed the basic instructions. I did allow for a 30 second bloom before filling the rest of the water but that was about it. Tomorrow I'll try some Allegro (The Elements).I would say the only other technique that comes close to matching the smoothness of the Aeropress would be the Hario Woodneck Drip Pot.What took me so long? Party on!
