Aerstone Land Cask and Sea Cask are both distilled in the Lowlands, but stored in different locations. While Sea Cask matures for 10 years in warehouses on the Ayrshire coast, Land Cask is stored further inland, retaining its smoky and perfectly balanced aroma. Aerstone Land Cask is distilled in the Lowlands, but in different locations. Spicy aromas of peat smoke and campfire smoked bacon rise to the nose. These are joined by subtle, sweet notes of citrus. The palate is very soft. The peat smoke is very present here and combines with the light sweetness. Caramelized sugar, licorice and candied apples mingle with fruity notes and the oak of the barrel. The finish is long and warming.

Aerstone - Land Cask... At this price, you would be hard-pressed to find a better single malt whisky. If you don't like it 'smokey', then try their 'Sea Cask' that's rather good, too!

This was the most horrible whiskey I have ever tasted! It smelt like disinfectant, and was difficult to have on its own. I ended up throwing away the entire bottle.

Both this and the sister Sea Cask have mixed reviews online, and I can understand why. I found the latter excellent and a real bargain, but this was a bit of a disappointment. The peat is strong, which I rather like, but there's not much else going on. You have to work hard to get any sense of the distillate or the cask. Moreover water absolutely kills it, so if (like me) you prefer to drink whisky with a splash of sparkling mineral water, I'd avoid this, terrific value for money though it is otherwise.

What a wonderful bottle of Scotch Whisky this is. Mellow with a hint of peat smoke and is better than a lot of other 10 year olds plus close to 50% cheaper. A real surprise to us.
Bought this based on the reviews for something different. Each man to his own.Quite nice on the nose with some complex peat and smoke, but thats where it stops.Tasted rough and with a blast of Iodine that is too overpowering. I normally drink neat or with an ice cube, but had to mix this with ginger ale.It reminded me of iodine and bandages when I was but a wee lad.Better options out there
This is better than you would expect. It is preferable to Laphroaig Select but not as good as Laphroaig 10 and certainly not as good as Quarter Cask. Its strongly peated with a bit of charcoal in there but not unpleasant at all. Below ?25, its good value. Above ?25 and you should start looking at Laphroaig 10.
I decided to try this as I felt like trying something new. The smell is the first thing that grabs you, its very aromatic, and the flavor was equally strong. I tried neat and with coke. Not sure I’d try again, I’d stick to more subtle flavors next time
I buy this product regularly. The price is right. I enjoy my nightly scotch.
I can even finish this bottle of scotch. All you can taste is a dental mouthwash and a 3 week old ashtray. Beyond disgusting
WOW i have never tasted a single malt SO BAD after sampling the Sea Cask version which was great i decided to try the land cask which to me a Scot was almost getting returned it TASTES like a mix of TCP and Creosote with a hint of Tarmac bitumen DISGUSTING
