I received a sample of this scent, and really enjoy its combination of lightness with a more resinous, woody, amber-y base - quite intriguing. As other reviewers have noted, it does seem to fade more rapidly than other perfumes, but to my mind that makes it a daytime option for some occasions, sparingly used. Even so, after a long day I still get a waft of it now and then from my clothes or hair, long after it's faded on my skin. It seems to have split the vote this one, but I think it's lovely and would certainly consider buying a full-sized bottle.

I was shocked to see some reviews disliking this scent. I first smelt it in the Aesop store after a sales assistant spritzed my shopping bag with it. The scent lasted ages and smelt lovely. I was so happy to get a sample of it as it is very pricey. The scent is sweet and light once sprayed, some fig and sandalwood notes but not overpowering and very femine. At first it smells strong up close but once sprayed on skin it really settles well. I’ve had so many compliments when wearing it.

I received this as a sample with a recent order and was keen to try it as I like woody fragrances. When first applied one gets a really strong blast of frankincense and the black pepper which is on the borderline of being overpowering. . Once it settles though I would say sandalwood is the predominant scent. Initially this eau de parfum is quite powerful and it lingers on the skin for a reasonable amount of time. It is quite masculine.A good fragrance for Autumn and Winter but I wouldn't purchase a full size bottle as there are more interesting woody fragrances out there.

I really love woody scents, my all time favourite being Diptyque’s Tam Dao. This one doesn’t disappoint, the smell lasted for ages and mellowed beautifully throughout the day. Scent is such a personal thing but if you like woody scents I recommend you try it out. Lovely classic packaging. Delivery from Space NK was quick and easy. My only negative is that it is expensive .
I recently received a sample of this. To me it is very reminiscent of diptyque’s philosykos but herbier and a bit more mellow. I don’t think the longevity is great and was pretty astonished at the price tag. I have quite a lot of Aesop products and their perfumes seem at a totally different price point to the rest of their offerings - £280 for 100ml is approaching Tom Ford territory and seems very steep! I certainly don’t think the fragrance is unique or interesting enough to not choose any number of other products. It’s nice, but not nice enough at that price!
I absolutely love my fragrances. This for me wasn’t quite doing it for me. It’s a very interesting blended scent but the sweet peppery side is a bit too much. It could be a lovely ‘creamer’ version of itself with one more not added but for me it’s not soft enough. It’s too harsh. I wanted to love the sample but didn’t. After about four minutes the scent changes on me and goes really salty. It’s not for me. How I would best describe this scent is …..Perfect for wearing at a bar eating salted almonds sipping a martini. It’s not one for a date night though.
I received this as a sample to try. When I read up on it I was excited as I love woody scents such as tobacco and black pepper. The smell was not at all what I expected, and it didnt smell woody to me at all and I'm unsure what it reminded me of-almost bitter floral, geranium type fragrance, but all are different on skin. I personally didn't like the smell. I sprayed one spritz on my hand, washed my hands twice, and could still smell it! Which is brilliant if you like the scent! It will last well on the skin!
I got a sample in a recent order. This has great reviews but I'm not a fan of this scent at all. The frankincense is too overpowering for me and I find it actually makes my stomach turn a little when initially applied. It does settle but those few minutes when it's in the air and on the skin I find very unpleasant. It's certainly a strong, woody and a complex fragrance that I think is unisex (rather than particularly feminine). Once the fragrance settles on the skin it doesn't smell bad at all and more of the sandalwood comes out, which is a much nicer base note. However all in all this wasn't for me and I threw the sample away after 3 wears as I just couldn't get on with it. Having said that my husband quite liked it on my skin.
Love the scent - instantly brings you to a wooden cabin, with a bookshelf of classics hard covers, cold weather outside and hygge inside the cabin type of ambience. The scent itself is unisex and gives you a mysterious aura. Taking 1 star off because lacking in longevity. Does not survive medium temperature without sweating for more than 3-4 hours. But would buy this in a heartbeat.
I love woody fragrances but they can smell a bit too 'mannish' at times. Not this one. It's beautifully rich and warming, definitely a winter fragrance, and a little goes a very long way with the scent lasting all day - even on me, which is a miracle. I received a sample to try and it will last me 3 or 4 day at least. Not sure I'd buy the full size just because it's expensive, but wold be very happy to receive this as a gift!
