Honestly? I'm on the fence. I love Aesop's moisturizers and have been using them for many years now. So I branched out and decided to try out this cleanser rather than stick with the usual (Grown Alchemist). It's not low lather; it's NO lather, more like a gel -- clear and very slippery. Just my perception, but I don't feel like my face was truly clean after using this, although it was very soft, and I didn't get that tight feeling like I do with other cleansers. I can see this being really good for sensitive skin. A few negative points for not having a pump. The glass bottle can easily slip out of wet hands, so I don't keep the Aesop in my shower area, lest I have to deal with broken glass. I'll use it up, because it's not a bad cleanser -- it just didn't "wow" me.

Now I have been playing around with products over the years so I have a pretty good grasp on what my skin likes/ doesn’t like. When I came across this product, what caught me was the name, ’In Two Minds’. This immediately suggested that there was a ‘variation’ of some sort in this product. A gentle gel-based formulation that cleanses thoroughly without drying the skin or stripping its natural oils. Upon reading it, I saw that TWO essential products that work best for my combo skin are 1) salicylic acid and 2) witch hazel. Then there was the sage component. I knew from my readings that Sage is chock full of antioxidants which can help reverse the signs of aging. It helps with wrinkles and fine lines. The anti-inflammatory properties of sage work wonders against stubborn acne. Other inflammatory skin blemishes, such as eczema and psoriasis, can also benefit from the use of sage. Regarding oily skin, sage is a great toner since it helps regulate sebum production. All this TOGETHER in ONE product had me sold. I had to try this. I am so happy I did. My skin hasn’t looked this good/even since I was much younger (in 20’s/early 30’s). My skin absolutely LOVES this product. The smell is herbaceous and clean. This product does NOT have surfactants in it so it does not ‘lather’ the way a typical cleanser would (which is actually a marketing ploy, btw…), but it is gently getting the job done. I will be adding the toner, next...**User Tip** once applied, leave on face for a few minutes so the salicylic acid can activate and gently slough off dead skin and breakdown oils, before rinsing off. You’ll be happy you did.

One of the main things I've noticed...it helps combat buildup under the skin with daily use. I am prone to getting bumps under the skin on the nose and chin and jawline area. This product prevents the buildup from happening. Great for combination skin. My cheekbone area is dry so its a bit drying for that area - otherwise fabulous for oily sisters!

Gel Cleanser for combination oily skin
25 July 2021

This is a light textured clear gel cleanser. It needs to be applied to damp skin as recommended otherwise it has no slip and will not spread. The cleanser has a very natural scent like a blend of essential oils, lavender and rosemary are in the ingredients. It rinses away easily and leaves skin feeling very clean and refreshed with no residue. I found this cleanser worked best for my oily t-zone it was too drying for my drier cheeks. It also contains salicylic acid so great for clogged pores but not for a very sensitive or rosacea prone skin. I found this irritated my rosacea and perioral dermatitis. This is recommended for combination skin but it will suit a combination oily or normal oily best. A very sensitive or more dry combination will probably find it too ... MoreThis is a light textured clear gel cleanser. This is also a facial cleanser only it is not advised to use around eyes so best as a second cleanse or you will need a separate eye make-up remover.

Happy!
23 September 2021

My sixteen year old has really befitted from using the Aesop products. Her skin is so much better since starting to use the 'in two minds' cleanser and toner. This was our second order, so she's been using it a while. It's lovely to see her skin looking so much better. Numerous trips to the doctors, where she was given various pills and potions - all that would work for a while but then tailor off. These products have got to be kinder to your skin. So far so good with Aesop, here's hoping it continues!

Horrible..
10 May 2022

First of all the smell is atrocious! Totally regret buying this cleanser. I had heard good things so i thought I’d give it a try.. I used this a few times but honestly I could not get past the smell. Seems very chemically.. Didn’t do much for my skin either.. Therefore I stopped using it, waste of money. Also I do not understand why it did not come with a pump dispenser? Given the price, surely a pump dispenser would’ve been ideal? Suffice to say I shall not be ordering this again. I always go back to the Cerave foaming cleanser for oily combo skin, and it’s at a fraction of the price. I guess I’ll stick to that.

Lovely; soothing and hydrating
16 March 2023

I have sensitive, rosacea-prone skin that is easily irritated. This cleanser is soothing and hydrating, and very effective at removing sunscreen (I would likely still double cleanse if wearing makeup). The packaging is not very user-friendly - it would be easier to dispense with a pump - but does minimize plastic, which I appreciate.

Nice cleanser
7 July 2021

I received a free sample of this in my last purchase. I have oily, acne-prone skin so I was a bit hesitant to use this due to all the essential oils. However, my skin had no issue with this product. It smelled nice, it was an effective cleanser without over stripping my skin. I have nothing negative to say about this product. I cannot speak for the long-term effects of this product, as I only used it once. But, my oily, acne-prone skin had no problem using this. I do not plan to purchase this cleanser, since I have other cleansers that I prefer over this.

Very non-practical packaging
23 June 2021

For a brand like Aesop, I’m surprised that this particular packaging doesn’t come with a free pump. The bottle is made out of glass that makes it slippery to hold when washing ones face. And to add to that, there’s no given pump. So imagine your hands are somewhat wet, you’ll need to uncap the fragile glass bottle in the shower, and then you’ll have to pour a few drops into your hand to wash your face. This encourages waste as there’s no stopper as you tilt the bottle, and without a pump, you can’t really control how much you pour out. This is a daily-used product made absolutely inconvenient and impractical to use! Much disappointment!

okay, did not love it
2 December 2022

It’s nothing special. I still had pimples, and it doesn’t lather too much. Smells okay, didn’t think it was special for that price. No better than any cheap face wash you can get from your local grocery store.Worse $50 I spent. Was very happy when it finished, and I had to get the pump from the Aesop store because it didn’t come with one.You can however take advantage of the bottle and use it as a lotion bottle, or a hand soap bottle. Or you can recycle it.
