Alright, first off want to thank Revzilla for the amazing customer service and answering the ungodly amount of emails I sent this about this helmet before making my purchase. Let's break it down.Ventilation: the amount of air flow with this is incredible. Sometimes during the ride I would almost want to close the vents, it felt like I had no visor on. It was glorious. I measured out at the MS, and it was spot on with the size guide. I can shake my head around like a madman and no movement at all, while it still doesn't create mad pressure on my head. While riding: Extremely quiet helmet, given the amount of air flow. No buffeting, even with shoulder checks. This is the most aerodynamic piece of marvel I've ever had the pleasure of riding with.Cons: here's the problems I discovered with this marvel. I find I'm looking through the very top of the visor, which makes 3/4 to tuck position mildly uncomfortavle, given the fact that it's hard to see, which to most people, myself included, not being able to see properly is a problem. Field of vision however is flawless. Upon putting my bluetoth piece in (Sena 10s), I had some crazy pressure points on my ears, which is to be expected as I through it all together in about thirty-seven seconds. All in all, I love this AGV, I'll definitely purchase these until I find something better qualified to protect my head. Think I'll be hard pressed, though. For $400, you cannot beat this helmet.

The pinlock that came with the helmet works well and was easy to install as well. I like how the helmet doesn't make me look like a bobblehead, although I wish the shell were a tad smaller. I really notice the difference when I turn my head. The previous helmet caught the wind; this doesn't.Still trying to figure out how to get my comm unit in it though. I might just take it down to Cycle Gear to have them do it for me haha.I would definitely recommend this helmet.I ride a 2020 Kawasaki W800, the standard one.

They mentioned that the vents are hard to operate with gloves on, but I haven't really had any issue with they, though you have to pull more to the side than straight up on them which takes some getting used to. I only have 3 negative things to say about this helmet. First I would have liked the look better had the AVG emblem been dark, like the helmet is flat black, and it would have looked a lot better had the emblem been either a dark shade of grey, or gloss black. Second, the chin strap while very comfortable is much more narrow than other helmets I have had in the past making it more difficult to loop with gloves on, and the snap ... MoreThis helmet is very light weight, looks awesome, great quality without braking into the $600+ range, has the tinted drop-down inside. Last and the biggest one is the chin curtain that comes with it does not come back near far enough. It needs to be about 3/4" to 1" longer. It lets tons of wind in making it very loud as is. THAT SAID I modified a chin curtain off another helmet which does go back much farther, and this baby is super quiet now. One last thing I would like to point out is their sizing is much larger than other helmet brands (or at least Icon's). I would advise getting the size you normally wear, and the size smaller, try them both on, and then send back the one that doesn't fit right. All in all fantastic helmet, just needs a better chin curtain really. As it is I would give it 4 stars, but easily a 5 star helmet if you go the extra mile to put a better chin curtain in it.

Amazing Helmet
24 September 2021

I sadly didn't buy it from FortNine due to the shortage of gear in my size for this season, but I had found it elsewhere for much more pricier. But let me say this. I am comparing this to my first lid (C70) and when I rode as a passenger wearing a K3. This is AMAZING. The cheekpads being THE biggest difference. It is so plush. Very fitting in a way that it's just not pressing your cheeks into your jaw compared to my C70. And I've been breaking that helmet in for over a month before taking it on the road. Wind noise is comparable. A little bit loud but nothing music and ear protection won't fix.Has a real aggressive look. A step up from the K3, so you have that little spoiler at the back and the side profile is sexy. I've watched videos on this helmet where the rider mentions about the beak at the front, but so far I haven't had any issues and I don't have a long neck either. I do find the inner button to open up the front vents to be weird. Or poor design, BUT if you want to convert this to a helmet where you can implement a CamelBak....its absolutely perfect. TONS of ventilation and very customizeable too. Easy to reach while riding. Love the flip down visor too. Helps on an extra sunny sunset.I bought an iridium blue visor and I love the purple tint on the mirror. My theme is Black and purple so this goes perfect. I am hoping this does come back in stock for my size so I can get another one. Hopefully one that is manufacturerd in 2020 so I got another 5 years to use it.

Good value for the helmet, aggressive style... a little big

I like the AGV K-5 Helmet in terms of price / value, style, and general features. I've been riding in this helmet for nearly a year and have about 5,000 miles in it. I am wearing a ML / Medium-Large shell. The Medium-Small is just a bit too tight, front-to-back... and, of course, the Medium-Large is just slightly too large. I like the 4-shell size concept, but still managed to fall in between two sizes. That has more to do with my head than the helmet. With respect to sizing - the shell size isn't unusually large, but it looks like I'm wearing the King Jack (Jack-in-the-Box) head (I have a white helmet). The size of the helmet seems large and catches a fair amount of wind. Any head-checks tend to pull on the chin of the helmet, probably due to the hawks bill shape. ... MoreI like the AGV K-5 Helmet in terms of price / value, style, and general features. The size of the helmet seems large and catches a fair amount of wind. Any head-checks tend to pull on the chin of the helmet, probably due to the hawks bill shape. I deal with it. Also, the venture effect over the top of the helmet is interesting... it pulls pretty good - so make sure you're strapped down snugly. The vents... It is almost impossible, under any condition, to open the eyebrow vents. As I live in a somewhat cooler climate, they're closed 80% of the time. But, trying to go from closed to open is a real bear. When open, I get decent airflow, so don't really have a complaint about the actual ventilation. The noise isn't bad or unusual, really - but it's not a super quiet helmet. To be honest, I'm not sure what a super quiet helmet would sound like, as I've never really put a helmet on and thought "wow, it's like a library in here." I ALWAYS ride with foamies in the ears and that cuts down on a lot of noise... but, it's still plenty noticeable. The interior of the helmet, as far as padding is concerned, etc. is pretty comfortable - I like it. because the size of the helmet is just slightly too large for me, I don't get much pinching on longer rides. Overall the padding is comfortable and comes out easily - and like all helmets, takes a little work to get it back in, but nothing excessive or frustrating. The shield mechanism locks and unlocks easily so shield changes are pretty easy. I don't really care for any drop-down visors, as they never seem to go low enough and I get a line through my vision where the visor ends. The actuator is pretty easy to reach and works easily - so if you like the drop-down visor, it will work fine for you. I go with shield changes... the smoke / mirrored shields are not cheap, but also not heart-stoppingly expensive. The double-d ring strap is very secure - as you would expect - and I have no problem with it... it seems to hit the right spot on my chin, so I don't get choked. Once it's on - I forget about it, so I think that's a good thing.Overall, I am happy with the helmet and would recommend it to someone looking for a good price / value / features helmet that wants something fairly aggressive in design / looks and doesn't want to jump up to the $600 - $800 range for a helmet.

Great helmet

I started this year off buying a Shoei NeoTec 2 in March, and that helmet just sucked (I wrote a pretty negative review, but RevZilla took it down) I tried to make myself deal with it for a riding season not wanting to admit to a $700 mistake, but it's 3 downfalls were wearing on me, the biggest being that I was concerned about long term damage to my ears/hearing.The faults with that helmet are: the vents only exist to make noise, they don't actually flow air. Over 75° and you don't want to wear it...it gets gross. The weight, everyone knows it's heavy but after wearing it for 8 hours in a day you better plan on seeing a chiropractor. The noise. It is deafening loud, not an exaggeration I did a 500 mile day, and it took the next two days for my ears/hearing to feel normal again. The K5 S fixes those three issues for me (and I waited until doing a 400+ mile trip before reviewing it). The vents actually move air, you can wear the thing all day and kind of forget it's there because of how lite it is, and while still noisy the noise is at an acceptable level. The K5 S isn't perfect, the drop down visor should be a touch darker, and about an inch lower, AGV should have not put the nose cutout in it either, because it can be distracting. The mechanism for the chin vent should have been put on the outside of the helmet, where it's at is functional, but getting to it is annoying. Also, the one thing I immediately missed about the Shoei, was the ratchet lock chin strap, the double d-ring obviously works but it would be nice to just plug it in.All in all, I'm glad I got this helmet even though I had no intentions of buying another lid this year.

Great helmet, but not for the full tuck.
18 April 2018

This is a very high quality helmet, and well worth $400 + graphics. I will list my pros and cons below. As for sizing, my head shape is borderline long/intermediate oval, and the helmet fit without issue. My head size is 57.5cm and I bought the Medium-Small. You really have to put on the helmet with the chin at a downward angle to get the right fit. At first I was wearing it similar to other upright-riding helmets, and it was hurting my ears as well as being less comfortable. When fitted properly, your eyes are not in the middle of the visor as is usually recommended - they're a bit higher up. This makes the dropdown sun visor work perfectly, but means this is NOT a track helmet. Your visibility is definitely limited in the full tuck due to the top edge of the ... MoreThis is a very high quality helmet, and well worth $400 + graphics. I will list my pros and cons below. When fitted properly, your eyes are not in the middle of the visor as is usually recommended - they're a bit higher up. This makes the dropdown sun visor work perfectly, but means this is NOT a track helmet. Your visibility is definitely limited in the full tuck due to the top edge of the visor. The K5-S is a great helmet for a fairly neutral riding position though, which I was fairly surprised about since Anthony said otherwise in his video review. I guess I disagree with ya there, Booch.PROS- Phenomenal quality for the price range.- Very stable in the wind. This was important to me. The hawkbill slices through the air and gave me real stability in the upright and 3/4 riding positions. I haven't had any trouble doing shoulder checks either.- The visor detents are extremely solid and feel expensive.- Pinlock included in the box (not installed).- Sun visor works great and has a decent mechanic.- This sucker is LIGHT! Not as light as some of the full carbon helmets, but it still feels great in the hands and on the head.- AIRFLOW. With all vents open, this helmet flows a ton of air. I also didn't have any trouble opening the eyebrow vents like another reviewer mentioned. I was able to open them with gloved hands my first time riding with it.- The helmet is quiet when all the vents are closed... this is also a negative below.CONS- Okay, first thing. There is a very small, hard part of the liner stitching that sticks out in the center of the forehead. It's situated at the front vent cutout of the liner, and looks like a triangle - find it before you put on the helmet! I have no idea why it's there, as the rest of the stitching is straight. This thing was like a razor blade though, and the first time I yanked this helmet over my head it cut a nice vertical line down the top of my forehead. Take a pair of scissors and snip that bastard off.- The little tab that cracks the visor for city riding is a silly idea, and not the easiest to use either. This feels like the cheapest part of the helmet, as there is very little feedback when it opens and closes (a bit hard to use with gloves). I would rather have a normal detent to crack the visor.- I wasn't really a fan of the chin vent control being inside the helmet. It's right above the chin curtain, so you pretty much can't use it while riding. Hey AGV, how about you replace the weird city detent with an exterior vent switch? The style of the helmet would remain exactly the same.- Remember how I said the helmet is quiet with all the vents closed? Well, it's the opposite when they're open. The airflow is great, but it comes with the tradeoff of added wind noise (and lots of it). There's also a slight whistling noise when the wind catches a vent just right, but it's so loud as to be overbearing. On a cool day in the city I forego ear plugs, but during the summer with the vents open you'll definitely need them.Overall, I definitely recommend this helmet. I talked more about the negatives than the positives in this review, but that's because Anthony already does a great job covering the positives in his videos. Make no mistake: this is a fantastic road helmet for $400. For touring and commuting you need to consider the K5 S.

Great helmet, quiet and lightweight? the clear visor scratches easily so I ordered a replacement that darkens with Uv light exposure. Has great air flow and the pin lock fog visor insert is amazing, I love that it doesn't fog at all when I come to a stoplight in cold weather with the visor closed.

Great ventilation. With all the vents open, you can feel your hair moving. Constant air movement for your face from the front vents.Mounted my Sena 20sEvo, simple install, no cutting required, sounds better than ever thanks to the cloth pads that go over the speakers.Visor feels very solid, notches are firm and hold when at speed. I ordered the dark smoke visor and it’s nice and dark, Don’t need to supplement with the drop down sunshade on bright days, only use the sunshade when stopped in city and want more air.Only negative...the visor removal system/clips are terrible. I’m sure I’ll get better at it with practice but it’s clumsy and difficult to replace the visor. It’s quiet but with all the vents open at speed, it’s can be a bit loud, but I wear earplugs ... MoreGreat ventilation. I’ll take the great ventilation over a few dB any day.Very stable at speed, better than my Nolan was. Head doesn’t pull or twist when you turn it. Aerodynamically great. The material of the liner is soft and very comfortable. My head measured 60cm, ordered the L and the XL, the XL fit perfect.Very happy with the helmet.
