Great model by Airfix in 1/24 scale. Well engineered kit, fit if great, accuracy is spot on. So far a great kit to build, tons of parts. A super Detailers model for sure.

This is a BIG kit with plenty of detail. There are 43 stages for the cockpit and interior assembly alone and nearly 60 for the engine. I have found it a pleasure to build so far. The only thing I've found odd is that there is no pilot figure provided yet you can select a in flight option to build? When it comes to painting there a couple of paint sets available from Vallejo and AK interactive which would suit this kit. Which are available from the scalemodel shop. You get plenty to do for you money. This is why i would recommend this kit to anyone with some experience of kit building although it is also not to hard for a beginner to attempt. Hope this short review helps.Lastly . Thanks to scalemodel shop for their fast response and delivery of this kit

It is a nice kit to build, the tolerances of the new tooling is so precise, that you have to dry fit numerous times before assembly, I have build it with the prop motor because i wanted an "in flight " model to give it an extra dimension.The "oil canning" of the fuselage in combination with a glossy sea blue color really brings the model to life,I highly recommend this kit

Really good kit will take time for this one. Putting the engine together could be a bit tricky just need time and patience but a .really good model.
It can be built without aftermarket parts if you chose. The seat belts are toy-like I think you should get better. I used Eduard metal belts. If you make the buckles dollar bill trims are the same as real cloth belts. I am turning mine into an F6F - 3 seeing the new windscreen was put on the 3 to stop fogging. I like the tri-color paint job. Some 1/32 B 17 decals will do the job. The model is the best I have seen and I do have the good ones in my stash but I am building it and there is nothing to boar you.
I am very pleased to have received this model at a very reasonable price having waiting for a couple of years. Perfectly packed and cant wait to start painting and building it.
Well built and highly detailed model. For advanced modelers. Many features included. Highly recommended.
The stressed skin is slighly overdone. Actual photos of aircraft in service show that the fuselage skin was not as stressed as the model depicts. Oxygen regulator and hose detail missing from cockpit. Which is a major detail that can be seen. Molded break lines look toy like and should have been separate parts. The kit is a good place to start for scratch builders.
At first I wasn't interested in anything 1/24 scale as it looked too impractical to build and display, but the impressive level of detail won me over. The engine alone is a project unto itself! I haven't even started on it yet, but its a value compared to 1/32 kits of similar subjects that cost even more (Tamiya 1/32 F4U = $150-200). This is definitely a great value for what you get, just be prepared to spend a lot of time building it.
very poor pictures on where to install exhaust pipes .if all added junk is put on engine he cowl cant be put on ether you install everything & leave cowling off or skip adding it to engine if the cowl is closed. had to throw out the first one that i started with step one,the second one i started with engine-mount & nose cowl all put together before the cockpit assemby was started. Airfix makes some good 1/24 kits but these plans are not the best.
