Really disappointed with the quality of the kit I got. I emailed Airfix about it and they said they would replace the parts that where poor quality for me but nothing has arrived. So between the poor quality kit and poor customer service I really don't want to do another airfix kit again.

A great new Lightning mould. Has extra gun/blank parts to make other versions. Just be careful putting the fuselage halves together, some trimming will be required of the interior sections as they are too wide or there will be a millimetre gap left. Again another kit that also has a hundred micro decals to apply, but really really worth it.

Ordered this as i plan to build as a gift for my wife's grandmother who worked for EE on the Lighting prototypeAs with all Airfix kits good clear instructions and paints also included with the kit.However the glue that should be included is missing!Not sure why and wasn't aware until i was homeLuckily I have some to make a star

Came as part of the excellent value mystery aircraft box direct from Airfix.Model detail, instructions, decals all up to the quality we have come to expect from Airfix.Appreciate the larger tube of poly cement included in this starter set. Which should stretch to build the two other mystery kits (Spitfire & Mustang).
This came in the surprise bundle and I was delighted with the kit. The detail was excellent and the build quality was good with all the pieces fitting well.
Bought as a birthday present for my son. Nice kit, however 2 of the paint pots were found to have dried out, making them unusable. So therefore disappointing, especially giving it as a present. My son has contacted you via email.
Brilliant new kit, the sprues are crisply moulded and the parts go together well. It requires a bit of weight in the nose cone, so I used an air rifle pellet in the cone, and another in the intake. You cannot see the pellets when the model is finished and they keeps the nose down. I would recommend this to anyone looking to buy a Lightning, or anyone who just wants to build a classic British icon.
Fit of the fuselage was terrible. Not great for a starter set… there was lots of filler needled. Luckily with my experience in model building it came out alright in the end. Definitely not for a ‘starter’ though.
Love this model and got mine in the 1:72 mystery box as the 'free' item so very pleased but who proof reads these pages. The plane was at RAF Gütersloh! not Guttersloh or Gtersloh! you need to use a font that allows for the umlaut.
after a break. of 37 years, i am starting up again.!this large starter kit is perfect to bring back my enthusiasm.i notice that there are far more details than a third of a century ago.on coming to england from southern africa, i packed 3 large boxes of my completed models. i had completed 72, YES, 72, all aircraft, and, all, bar one, from pre 1945.the only other one was a Mirage in south african colours.
