This is the best of the 1/72 "new Airfix" Spitfires so far. It assembles really nicely and has great detail. The only drawbacks - and they are minor - is that the wheel detail is a bit shallow and the Vokes filter fit to the fuselage isn't perfect. There are parts in the box for versions without the Vokes filter as well, which suggests later releases. I took advantage of that to build a modified RAAF aircraft, but the kit decal schemes are also very tempting. I may have to buy some more...

Pieces fitted together really well, fantastic new propeller ‘mechanism’ and undercarriage design that made it very satisfying to build, fuselage and wings fitted well with the cannon easily placed. An all round winner!

In step 15 there shows an option of a cowling that extra holes have to be drilled for. However there isn't any mention as to which variant or theatre this cowling would be used in. Also it should be made clear that this cowling isn't actually fitted until step 27, fitting it at step 15 will cause problems! Same issue with variant type also applies to the gun options in step 21.
A great kit with enough detail straight out if the box. Nice panel lines make for a convincing result in getting it to look right. The sharks mouth decal are superb. Overall a great kit from Airfix
This is a very good kit. The detail is spot on and should satisfy most of the modellers out there.The decal sheet is very good, who can resist a shark mouthed Spitfire?Surface detail is good and the outline is once again spot on.The way the kit goes together helps make for a very satisfying experience.Definitely get another one for the stash.
The general build of this was okay, but it is not one of Airfix's finest recent releases. I had to use a lot of filler on the wing roots. The rear cockpit bracing was missing from the kit. I did email spares department but never got a response in over 2 months. So I gave up waiting and scratch built a part and now the kit is finished. The canopy open is a nice option and there are plenty of alternative build options including Tropical or normal intake, Standard or clipped wings, slipper tank on the tropical version etc.
This is one of the best 1/72 Spitfire kits on the market. Detail, accuracy and build quality definitely rate five stars.' Nuff said.
The look of the parts is very good. The inclusion of other main wing parts is interesting. One point is that the use of so many small parts would put of many younger modellers . The smaller kits are becoming more complicated. The choice of decals for the kit I felt was a definite plus. All in all a reasonable kit.
i have recently recevied this model and i find it fits extremely well. would reccomend. 10000000/10
