Founded in 1921, Alessi has always stood out for the high quality of its products. In almost a century of history, the company has gradually evolved to become one of the leading 'Factories of Italian design', capable of applying its expertise and excellence in design management to many different product types. Open to change and international development, Alessi at the same time has a strong bond with the traditions and cultural background of its area. Alessis mission is now one of translating its quest for the most advanced cultural, aesthetic, design and functional quality into mass production. Designer products are the result of the constant reconciliation of art and industry, of the 'Immensity of Creative Potential' and the needs of the market. The company is committed to a design approach in which the most advanced expression of international creativity is always balanced against the desires of the general public. Alessi has been described as a 'Dream Factory', which uses its products to make peoples dreams come true, providing them with the Art and Poetry that they seek. Born in Paris in 1949, he is one of the most original and creative designers of our time. He has obtained many important acknowledgements such as the Grand Prix National de la Cration industrielle and the Honour Award of the American Institute of Architects, he considers himself as 'a Japanese architect, an American art director, a German industrial designer, a French artistic director, an Italian furniture designer'. A truly iconic object and symbol not only of Philippe Starck but of Alessi itself, this citrus squeezer - as revolutionary as it is surprisingly functional - was sketched in its essentials by Starck during a holiday by the sea in Italy, on a pizzeria napkin.

This is one of the most spectacular pieces of functional art we have at home. I've been fascinated with Phillipe Starck's amazing design since I was a teenager, and finally treated myself to one of these amazing juicers. It now sits on my island almost as a trophy!A MUST have purchase for the stylish homeowner. And on a further note - Starck is rumoured to have said: "It's not meant to squeeze lemons, it is meant to start conversations."

I was given this as a present a couple of christmases ago. I confess to being somewhat sceptical. It looks so odd. But is perfect. It has been used several times a week. I put a small plastic sieve on top of a narrow glass to catch pips and then squeeze the lemon, orange or satsuma etc. It's very quick, efficient and so easy to clean, soapy water not in the dishwasher. I thought the metal might tarnish over time but it's still looking good on my counter top.

It's a bit on the pricey side, but it's beautiful. With the three thin legs, the juicer doesn't take up valuable counter top space in our small kitchen. It's quite satisfying to see how well the juice flows down into the glass, and it's easy to rinse and clean. Word of warning, there's a knack to not splashing juice everywhere, but once you get it, it works like a charm. If you're a bit ham-fisted then this might get a little messy for you.My wife told me off for this impulse buy, but when she saw how well it works, she changed her mind and all is well! So happy with this purchase, and it's going to be a great conversation starter once we can finally have guests over.

This is so stylish and futuristic looking. I find we now consume 5 times more lemons just so we can use it. Guests are always fascinated by it. Makes a good garden party trick for sure.
Stylish addition to any kitchen that makes you look sophisticated even if you never use it!So saying, it works well as intended and makes the process of squeezing citrus fruit much more enjoyable than it should be!
I bought this item as a thank you present for a friend and she was delighted. She had wanted one for a long while and it made a lovely gift. The squeezer is beautiful to look at - too nice to put it in a cupboard. It is easy to use and functional.
By far the best citrus squeezer I've ever used. Easy to use ,easy to clean and accurately releases your citrus juice straight into your glass. No hassle cleaning just rinse under a cold tap and dry. No bits left and hey presto ππ So pleased with this purchase.
The Juicy Salif lemon squeezer from Alessi is in fact a designer object with recognition value, representative of the history of design.I have to admit that with the lemon squeezer, apart from a few test attempts, it serves more as a home accessory. But for all those who like to squeeze lemons with it, it works really well. The greatest thing about it is that you can easily put a large glass under the press and thus catch the juice well.Otherwise the citrus press serves every conversation at the dinner table. Anyone who has studied the history of design should not miss the chance to buy this citrus press.
Bought this for my son (who loves classic design) ...as a graduation gift. He absolutely loves it. A quality, well made product that will last for years. Even if it's never used for it's purpose, looks fabulous and a great talking point! Very happy with purchase. Used the click and collect option. Very straightforward.. excellent price too.
I have always wanted this item in my kitchen since it was released in the 90's. Now i am finally settled in my own home and I can afford it, i purchased this juicer. It seems a tad impractical to use and certainly isn't as easy as a normal juicer but i don't care. It is equally an art piece and a kitchen utensil. Unfortunately it is made of aluminium which is not ideal. Stainless steel would have been better, for health reasons and for ease of cleaning. No doubt this juicer will oxidise with age and not appear so shiny.
