This feels like a quality pan and I followed the instructions to only use food at room temperature yet I still got the whitish markings on the pan after the pan was washed. The whiteish marks didn't show up right away as we drip dry, upside down in the dry rack. I then used a paper towel with olive oil and in a circular motion to fade out the white marks. Not sure why the white marks appears even after using everything at room temperature, with a little olive oil.

I've been using teflon all of my life. Finally switched to stainless steel and my food cooks way better (more crispy and caramelized sautéing) and takes the teflon flavor out of your food. It really lets the ingredients shine. Although it may seem intimidating, after you look up some youtube videos on how to make sure your food doesn't stick (the water drop test) it's easy sailing from there. Worth the price, makes you want to cook more and cook better!

After sampling this skillet, I bought the d3 10 piece Stainless Steel set. I figured that the d5 set was unnecessary. The d3 is heavy enough without being too much so as to bother my somewhat arthritic hands. And the fact that MOST of the All-Clad pieces are make in the USA is a plus.I am moving away from non-stick cookery that need to be replaced overtime. These clean up nicely with a little soaking and Bar Keeper's Friend if necessary.
I did a lot of research before buying my first stainless steel skillet. I am making the switch from non-stick to stainless steel. Since buying stainless steel pans is an investment, I wanted to make sure I got the most for my money. I’m absolutely in love with this skillet. It’s just the right size for my first stainless steel skillet. It is very sturdy, but not too heavy. It heats up evenly and it washes perfectly clean. I will definitely continue to buy pieces from the same line as I build my collection.
Best skillet I?ve ever owned, bar none. Wirecutter (NYT) is my go to review site, and they have chosen it as Best Skillet for several years now. I wish I had listened sooner! I love the lid also, as well as the even cooking and easy cleaning.
Worth every penny. All-Clad quality speaks for itself and with the 12” skillet being my first All-Clad purchase it’s now difficult to buy anything that isn’t All-Clad so I’ve spoiled myself. Definitely happy I went with the 12”; great for cooking multiple chicken breasts at once or any larger cuts of meat. Too big for omelettes otherwise it’s a nice size and everyone should have a 12”.
I have had my eye on this pan for a long time. The recent sale made it impossible to delay any longer. The pan performs perfectly with great heat distribution and thermal mass. It’s easy to clean and looks like new after every use. It’s a real work horse for multiple uses such as sauté, pan roasting and straight into the oven for roasting meats. Easy deglaze.
First All-Clad pan, and with some gift cards became comparable to other offerings. Quality is top notch, with fits and finishes that you can tell are top end. Cooking meats has been amazing. The control, heat retention, wide area beat out most aluminum pans on their own. And then you get the benefits of wonderful fond, easy clean up, easy to hold and handle even while being heavy. All in all, great pan, will buy another in 20+ years when this one finally gives out.
this pan is terrific as long as yo have the right cleanser to keep it looking new. I use Bar Keepers Friend from Ace hardware, super cheap and effective. the stainless steel gets lots of marks from heat and food, but cleans beautifully with the right products.The pan cooks things really well, getting just the right amount of crisp on meat of fish. highly recommend the D5.
