This is well made and seems a good product, but I have two issues: First, I have the Alpinestars Nucleon KR3 road racing back protector which appears similar to what's on the Bionic Tech V2 jacket. It's the most comfortable back protector I've ever worn, so I expected to like this one. Instead, I find this one fits like a board, there's no articulation to match the curve of your lower back and I'm always aware of it across my shoulders. The bigger problem with this jacket is that it rides up during use. In ordinary trail riding worn under a jersey it moves up my back until the back protector is seriously interfering with my helmet on down-hills. Trying it on the fit seemed great, it wasn't until I'd ridden in it a few times that I discovered that there was no way to ... When I questioned Revzilla I was told that that there's no way to keep it down except to wear an outer jacket. That is not at all what the product description led me to expect.

Runs small making it a bit difficult to remove at the end of the day. Protection is great and I find it to be comfortable. Elbow armor doesn't shift during riding which is a great plus and a big reason I choose this item. Breathable and so far but only used up top 80F, zero complaints on heat. Only time will tell as the summer heat hits the desert. For the future I would like to see--inner elbows cut out to prevent bunching though this has been only a minor issue and barely noticeable--velcro or other attachment to help keep the chest protection at a customizable down position--lower chest protection straps could be a stronger elasticity--occasional irritation at the neck line from the chest protection adjustment straps, would like to see this addressed5'7" ... Protects all the major areas, minus ribs/kidneys. Knew that buying it though, so great value for the price especially if it's on sale.I'm 6'2" + 230lbs with average build and the 2XL *just* zips up and fits. This may be by design with the idea being it will stretch out some as you wear and use it, but I can't see it being good for the zipper in the long term. The build quality seems excellent and overall I'm very happy with it and can't wait to put it through the paces this season! Will update review with post season report.

I've had about 10 rides with this so far. Really great protections and fairly flexible. I took a couple good hits, bouncing off trees and landing on tree stumps riding single track. I was surprised how well it protected given the flexibility of the pads. Can be kind of squirrelly getting on by yourself and pulling a jersey over. I use a USWE outlander 2 1.5L hydration pack, that fits OK, I'm a couple inches from the looses setting. The kidney belt is a nice addition. I'm 6'2, 210 lbs.

Probably ok for some track riding, but not hard enduro. Not what I was looking for, and also couple reasons not to recommend.1. entire unit rides up and ends up around your chest and neck unless you can find a way to secure to your pants.2. back protection does not go as low as comparable Fox jacket. Your lower back is very exposed3. on the rocks, forearm and elbow arm guards will not prevent from a broken elbow or forearm, but then again it's not CE2 protection.
I purchased this armored top to wear while riding on the street during Florida?s hot and extremely humid summer days. During such rides you need the maximum amount of air flow you can possibly get so you don?t broil in the heat and high humidity. Trying to wear your normal armoured riding leathers would have you passing out from heat exhaustion every time you got stuck at a traffic light. It?s simply too hot and humid here in Florida during the summer months. Just getting on your bike while wearing your armoured leathers alone would have you loosing 5 pounds in sweat. And yet, the solution I see numerous riders resort to is wearing nothing more than a T-shirt and often even shorts while ditching their helmet as well. If you can?t be bothered to protect yourself when it?s hot, then just park your bike until it cools down. Accidents don?t discriminate according to humidity and temperatures and the pavement will equally grind your skin away regardless. So while these armoured tops are typically advertised for off road use, there?s no reason why they can?t be as effective on the road. They?re far superior to wearing nothing more than a T-shirt. Manufacturers really need to stop pushing armoured shirts for just off road. The armoured shirts manufacturers actually make that are specifically geared for on road use are FAR TOO INADEQUATE for the small amount of protection they offer. Those typically consist of little more than strategically placed foam pads that are completely inadequate in a real crash. I?ll wear full leathers for around 8 months out of the year, but when the temperature climbs into the red zone, it?s time to hang up the leathers and find an alternative to the armoured leathers. This top can be worn by itself or under a long sleeve shirt or hoodie. The fit is perfect, and like most items from Alpinestars, quality is top notch. I recommend being extra careful while donning and doffing, as the thinner material is meant to maximize wind flow while keeping the armour in it?s correct places. Hopefully you?ll never actually need it, but when you do, you?ll slide on the armour and not the shirt material itself. This is a product, like a helmet, that should be replaced after taking a tumble, as chances are that enough damage will be done to the stitching to allow the armour to shift away from it?s proper placement. I?m a very muscular 5?3?, 175 pound man and the size Medium fits perfect.
I purchased a size Large. I wear large Tee shirts and the fit was great. It was tight fitting but this gear should be snug against you. I have 3 long rides with it on and have no complaints whatsoever. I looked at a lot of brands and after trying on several. This was the one for me. I wanted maximum protection ( at 47 I need all the protection I can get) with little protection that can breath. I ride all year long and this gear does breath well for as much coverage as you are getting. I think the price is on point as well with the level of protection you're getting in quality of craftsmanship/materials.
This jacket is very well ventilated. Dare I say cold even when you get up to road speeds. Only issue for me was the fit but that was fixed easily and painlessly by RMATVs return policy (XL was too small and exchanged for a 2XL). The fit seems to favor slimmer bodies. I had to get a 2XL because the fit around the shoulders was WAY to tight with an XL. I'm 5'9, 230lbs, and have a 25 inch shoulder width (aka battle gnome). It can be a bit difficult to remove (again probably just my body type) and I would recommend pulling the elbow pads past your hands to remove or you may start ripping the fabric. The chest piece removes to make donning/doffing the jacket easier. I wish I had this two years ago when I bruised a rib half way through a ride.
I am 5'7" 194 lbs, wearing a size L here. Very stretchy material for the base layer. The armor itself is very rigid plastic, but conforms with a layer of soft foam between the padding and armor. It's still very comfy to wear. The waste belt and side adjustment loops allow for a pretty wide adjustability, however, the shoulders are NOT adjustable in any way, they are suspended between the front and back pieces with removable clips and elastic, but there is no adjustability as the features suggest. They did, however, improve on the elbow armor adjustability, and it's better than what's shown in the promotional picture. There's an elastic V-shaped closure with velcro adjustment for the elbows which is far more secure than a single loop shown would be. Also seems ... MoreI am 5'7" 194 lbs, wearing a size L here. Also seems intentionally misleading to put "level 2 cell/level 2 nucleon cell technology" in the description as it IS NOT LEVEL 2 armor. All pieces are CE level 1. I haven't used the previous version but was looking for a reasonable chest protector for light offroad/adv and ended up with this. I'm happy to see they enlarged the chest armor and made the presentation a little less edgy. Still, I'm planning on wearing it under a jacket.
