A HYBRID SPORT JACKET.

This is the newer version of the same name, so whats changed? Not much, but in a good way. The material has been updated and is more supple out of the box. Very little break-in time is needed and it'll conform to your body over time. The venting provided by the perforated holes are not the little laser-cut holes you see on a lot of high-end jackets these days; these are legitimate holes punched into the leather which means venting is excellent even at low speeds. The stretch fabric under the arms and along the sides of the jacket is updated with a more durable moisture wicking material that's breathable. It's reminiscent of what you would find on an arcteryx soft-shell jacket, very durable stuff. The fit is generous but not loose. It's reminiscent of what you would find on an arcteryx soft-shell jacket, very durable stuff. The fit is generous but not loose. This has a lot to do with the fact that they've strategically placed that stretchy soft-shell fabric at stress points where you'll be reaching for the bars or positioning into a tuck. One of the nice upgrades to this jacket that will undoubtedly go unnoticed by novice bikers is the interior. Alpinestars is starting to use this silky double layered mesh with a floating backer. WHAT THIS MEANS is that it's constructed very similarly to what you would find in a well tailored suit coat. Believe me when I say this, it is something not seen in any other high-end jacket right now and I believe it will become the next marketing point for many brands moving into the future. This floating backer allows the jacket to maintain its shape around the user over time, conforming to a custom fit. So, not only will the leather conform to your shape, but jacket interior will follow those contours which means the entire system overall will last many years longer without pinched spots of fabric loosing strength or stitch. Make sense?CONS: Weight. One of the drawbacks of the new liner is the added overall weight to the jacket. It's not more than what you'll find anywhere else; it's just a personal gripe. However keep this in mind, the weight is a sign that the manufacturer is mindful of the cut of leather used to create the jacket. No doubt, they're using a high grade leather of even thickness throughout.OVERALL SHORT STORY: It's worth the money invested, will keep you cool and vented at low and high speed, it will last decades with minimal care (it's chrome tanned leather, and honestly doesn't need anything). I would classify this is an All Around jacket for Sport, Naked, Touring and Fast Cruising.Fit is inline with the sizing chart with a HYBRID cut. Sport fit in the shoulders and arms, Relaxed fit in the torso.

Absolutely amazing! I love this jacket! I'm a 20 year old beginner sports bike rider and this jacket is perfect for riding in any and all Ohio weather, whether it be stupidly hot out with ungodly humidity or cool just before a rain storm hits. It's comfy, very stylish, has plenty of ventilation, fits right (if you use the fitting chart), has lots of flexibility for daily use (like going to the store) but also has all the protection you can feel when wearing it. ONLY THING would be to buy the Alpinestars back protector for the jacket - it doesn't make the jacket any less comfortable. 11/10, would recommend this for all sorts of riders.

The jacket is really good. Lots of air flow. It has a removable thin liner located on the inside of the jacket and has saved my rear end on a lot of occasions. When it gets hot simply take the time to remove the liner and fold it nicely and shove it into your motorcycle compartment or in one of the many pockets the jacket has. The jacket feels almost like a second layer of skin (that’s what you want) I can easily move and rotate on my bike. The padding on this jacket feels really high quality and durable. I gave a 5 star rating on the durability part because I feel like i could trust it in a fall or tumble but hoping I’ll never have to use the padding. Overall if you’re like me and have that little extra money, THIS IS THE JACKET FOR YOU. Totally worth every penny. ... MoreThe jacket is really good. Lots of air flow. Decent jacket....NO AIR FLOW AT ALL in the arms. Read before buying.
29 August 2021

The jacket is decent for the money. CE2 armor rating is awesome. The chest flows nice amounts of air to keep you cool. The issue is the arms, there is NO mesh, NO air flow at all in the arms. While chest remains cool while moving, your arms sweat like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. I am already going to purchase another jacket with some air flow in the arms. However, its made well, its Astars which is always a good product, but RD dropped the ball here with the lack of air flow in the arms.

First Jacket

This was my first jacket I've purchased, had some time with it and decided to finally give it a review.Size: Small, fits spot on though I think I would like the arms to be slightly longer but that's just personal taste. The cut really feels like for more European style so just being mindful of that.Protection: No back armor, that was fine ended up getting the Alpinestars S size back armor, fits right in the insert no problem. Shoulder armor feels stiff but fine with me, the elbow armor though can be a little bulky that's the part I wish I could make it a different type from Alpinestars.Airflow: Airflow seems decent with the mesh front, great when you're moving but because it's black it gets toasty after a while. The thermal lining a little thin for my taste but it does the job to get the wind chill a little. I've noticed when it's 60-55 degrees out it can get a little nippy so I ride with a light hoodie, sweater or long sleeve shirt and I'm fine underneath.Overall: Good first jacket, would consider Alpinestars again because of fitment but probably lessoned learned for me is to go to a local shop first to try them out. This purchase was just online research / sizing myself at home.

Great quality and good fit
6 May 2022

This is my first Alpinestars jacket and so far I’m impressed with the quality and fit. The sizing chart recommended a size 54 based on my chest and arms but a 58 for my stomach measurement, I went with the 54 and everything fits good. At that size it’s snug but not uncomfortably so, nothing feels tight anywhere just secure like a well fitted glove. I wear an under armour compression shirt underneath and it makes it easier to take on and off especially after riding on a hotter day. Airflow is good not mesh jacket good but it definitely lets the air flow through. The air flows through the body well but not really on the arms I noticed they get pretty warm when it’s hot out. So far it feels good for anything except maybe the hottest part of summer or coldest of winter. ... MoreThis is my first Alpinestars jacket and so far I’m impressed with the quality and fit. I’d say over 90 degrees I’d probably switch to mesh personally. Armor in the elbows and shoulders are comfortable and fit great.

Impressed with the incredible amount of airflow!
4 September 2019

I needed to replace my original Alpinestars Air Jacket that had served me well for over 9 years but, had begun to come apart at the shoulder seams due to regular use. I loved that jacket! The airflow was amazing but, it was time for a replacement.I did plenty of research before making my purchase. Living in the humid, oppressive heat of south Florida, requires a riding jacket with plenty of air flow. The mesh jackets are definitely the way to go here. They offer moderate protection, if you upgrade with armor yet, still keep you cool at speed. As long as you are moving, the Viper V2 Air works remarkably well! And I would also liked to have seen the Alpinestars logo embroidered or even silk screened onto the collar. It simple looks unfinished. With that being said, I do appreciate the embroidery throughout the remainder of jacket. Very nicely done.I was very impressed with the incredible amount of airflow the Viper V2 Air jacket provides. At speed this jacket certifiably does a good job at keeping you cool, yet protected from the elements and insects. At this low price point, you cannot go wrong with this purchase! I highly recommend the Alpinestarts Viper V2 Air Jacket. Especially if you ride in very warm or humid climates, year around as, I do.

Nice update
24 November 2022

Nice update to the original Faster jacket. I still have an original Faster, so can compare with the new version. The V2 retains the leather covered over-shoulder pads - much smarter than the cheap looking plastic ones pads that Alpinestars puts on some of their other jackets. The V2 has a new heavier duty main zipper, and now comes with Nucleon Flex Plus armour in the internal shoulders and elbows pockets. I chose the black/black version of the jacket this time, and the logos are done in subtle black stitching- looks great imo. Can’t wait for spring when I can try it out on the road.

I ride a Sportster, and found myself looking at Alpinestars jackets because although I love my Harley, I hate most HD apparel. Too flashy. I knew I wanted black, and I knew I wanted leather. I can't say I've tested it with a crash, but it definitely seems like it would hold up well and save your skin. Quality leather, extra protection where you need it.The jacket is stiff at first, but it breaks in nicely. I'm 5'3", 135lbs, and I have a large chest for my frame. I got a size 44, and it fits PERFECT. I can wear a t shirt or a long sleeve underneath, but I would not be able to fit a sweatshirt. Although it is a low collar, I personally would like no collar at all. I do have drag bars on my bike, which has me leaving forward just a bit, thus the collar sits up higher on me.Fitment is exactly as expected. Measurements are dead on.
