The Alpinestars S-M5 Rayon Motocross helmet is a lightweight off-road helmet with a technologically advanced impact-resistant thermoplastic shell developed in two shell sizes for added aerodynamics and comfort on the bike. The multiple-density inner liner ensures the correct density in the right area for optimum impact absorption. At the same time, the soft EPS foam prevents damage to the collarbone in the event of a crash. Off-road riding can be hard work, but the Alpinestars S-M5 helmet has a complete ventilation system with high levels of heat transfer exchange with multi-air inlets and exhaust ports with airports on the visor to funnel the air through. Inside the S-M5, the removable and washable Silverplus liner is anti-bacterial treated for excellent moisture-wicking and removable cheek pads with 3D contoured foam and a soft textile chin strap broader than certification requirements for optimal safety and rider comfort. In addition, hydration tube channels integrated into the helmet's cheek pads give convenience and performance. Double D ring closure provides superior safety. Available in a wide choice of colours.

Excellent helmet for the price. I wear a size XL in other brands and the Alpinsestars helmet is no different. It is a little tight at the bottom (cheek pads), but after wearing it on a couple of rides it fits perfect. Light weight. Visor and face opening are great, I use Scott goggles and X-Brand and they both fit well. I also have an M8, truthfully not a huge difference.

I'm disappointed that Alpinestars is putting their brand name in this helmet. I've bought numerous Alpinestars products and have always been happy. I wore this helmet one day after receiving it. I put it on and off 5-6 times in between my practice laps. The cheek pad connectors are very poor quality. The fit is also very small as I have always worn a medium. I sent it back and ordered the large size...…..still pretty tight. I know I ordered a $250 helmet, but this honestly should be in the $100-$150 range if they redesign the cheek pad snaps.

Not a terrible helmet overall for the price, but there are some things with this helmet that are annoying. First of all, it fits small despite following the measurement instructions on this website and even ordering a size up! So take it from me and the others on this review board that the sizing is small.Given that the helmet fits small, if you use a communication set in your helmet, you need to factor that into the sizing as well. I use ScalaRider and the earphones are right up against my ears, making the helmet hard to get on as my ears fold up on the earphones every time. I also prefer to ride with earplugs in, and I haven't even tried that yet, but surely that's a no go with this helmet. I moto tour through Central America and if you're on and off the bike a lot, comfort of putting on/taking off the helmet is important, in addition to riding comfort. Putting this thing on is a pain (literally) so this will not work for me.Lastly, there is little airflow in this helmet. Revzilla warns you about this in the product overview video, but I can also confirm that it doesn't breathe very well after using this helmet one time on a hot day.If I hadn't already popped the tags off and took this helmet out for a trial ride, I'd return it and look at other options. I'm probably going to have to sell it "like new" on eBay and take a loss. But, hey, I have integrity enough to not pull a fast one on Revzilla by returning it as new. Overall, this purchase was a disappointment for me personally.

The helmet fits great & is light and comfortable. I haven't crashed tested it (& hope not to!). One odd thing, & the only reason I'm not giving a 5 star review, it doesn't fit in the bag supplied by RMATV!?
Fit is pretty nice. No intercom speaker pockets, but not hard to make them yourself. Well Ventilated. Super loud on the road, but its a dirt helmet that's what ya get. Wide Field of vision - takes goggles well. Cheek pads have a tough time staying in the plastic retaining clips. All in all good buy for the price.
Feel and fit is great! Very lightweight & comfy. Got it for a great price too! I highly recommend this helmet!
Super light and pretty comfortable although not as comfortable as my moto 9. Vents extremely well but also because of that helmets a little noisy You can hear the wind passing through the vents and really feel it on your head. Finish is great. Liner system is a little old school when your taking it out and cheek pads are a little hard to get in. There's two snaps and two locking tabs that slide into place. Would of been better with three regular snaps. Overall a good lid
Helmet overall looks good but did not perform well. I had a low speed front wheel wash out and my head made contact with the dirt. Immediately got knocked out but was able to get up. I understand that a helmet is not going to 100% protect you but riding woods/trails and having a low speed fall is a given. This did not stand up to expectations. Spend the extra money and get something else that can absorb impact a little bit better.
The sizing is way off. I've always used Medium MX helmets and this Astar SM5 I could hardly get on my head. Then almost ripped my ears off trying to remove it. I had to check that it wasn't a small. It wasn't comfortable. I felt the mouthpiece was too close to my face as well. The stock photo is also deceiving. The color looks Black and GREY with an orange stripe. The Grey in the photo is actually an off-white and doesn't look as good in person. Note that the description does say black/white/orange. Not much good to say here..had to return it.
I really wanted this helmet, but it's way too small. I should be an XL from the size chart, but neither it or the XXL came close to fitting. I'm an XL in most brands.
