Alpinestars S-M5 Helmet The all-new S-M5 helmet is the result of more than five years of intensive study, development and testing. Alpinestars scrutinized every possible aspect to engineer a helmet that is safe and thoughtfully designed to deliver optimal protection and comfort. This lightweight helmet features a thermo-injected shell incorporating a special polymer blend enhanced by varying degrees of thickness that is engineered to deliver the optimal combination of impact protection and light weight, while the five density EPS liner ensures the correct density in the correct area for enhanced impact absorption. Other key design features include an engineered raised area with padding to effectively reduce the forces transmitted to the collarbone and a patented visor release system that ensures the visor is released with the correct pre-determined amount of force, irrespective of the angle of impact. Features: Lightweight outer shell is constructed from a technologically advanced impact resistant thermoplastic in two sizes The inner and outer surfaces are engineered to minimize the effects of oblique impacts Multiple density inner liner to ensure the correct density in the correct area for enhanced impact absorption Side shell couple with soft EPS foam prevents damage to collarbone in the event of a crash Emergency release system and removable cheek pads permit the safe and easy removal of the cheek pads while the helmet is still on 3D contoured foam ensures rider comfort Removable comfort liner with Silverplus treated anti-bacterial fabrics for excellent moisture wicking Anti-microbial liner is removable and washable Hydration tube channels are integrated into the helmets cheek pads for convenience and performance Soft textile chin strap is wider than certification requirements for optimal safety and rider comfort Stainless steel D-rings to ensure a tight and secure fit

I ordered this helmet for a Christmas gift for my husband, he loved it. He did mention it's a little snugger than other brands he has had in the past. He also mentioned the mouth guard was a little slime ,but he was excited to try it out

I crashed while wearing this helmet and got knocked out and collapsed a lung but I didn't die or get brain damage, nice.

I just recieved the helmet and am very impressed by the design and construction. It is one of the coolest dirt helmets I've seen over the years.I typically where a large in most helmets: Bell 500, Icon Alliance, SHoei RF-SR, Bell MX-9, Biltwell Gringo...This was extremely tight in cheeks, even more so than my Icon Airmada. After about 20 minutes of chillin in it I got a headache but not at any particular pinch points.I'm pretty bummed since this helmet is dope. I may try a size up or go back to my bell. But please just be aware this is a bit smaller than most larges I've worn (and worn in.)

Really solid fit. Comfortable and has nice features. Seems very well made.
so, I love the fit, the look, the weight. not very sure about all day use yet.the one thing that was driving me crazy is there is no DOT sticker, even knowing the description states that its both DOT and ECE approved. I was about to return it because I will be riding to the trails and I want a street legal helmet. Decided to contact alpinestars to clarify. turns out there is 2 versions of this helmet. an american version and a european version. as Canada now accepts ECE, we are only getting the ECE version and that does not have the sticker on the back. (the ece certification is on the chin strap )In short, I like everything about this helmet, but I wish it was clear in the description that it is not DOT.
Nice glove, fit and finish is good. Protection could be more but that is found in a more expensive glove. Got these for dual sport and it was a compromise between full-on protection and dexterity and feel. I think I found the happy medium. Alpinestars products do tend to run a bit small, I tend to wear a medium as I prefer my gloves a little tight but I sized up to large and tightly so... I think the medium would have been a bit too snug. Would recomend.
This helmet looks great. It arrived quickly as usual with Revzilla and fits true to size. I was worried about the inside being rough like the Fox V1 is but the inside is nice. I recommend it. I haven’t fallen yet but trust it will do fine.
Would not recommend. The helmet looks great, that's all the good I have to say about it. The chin strap is set back far enough to choke you. The fabric that's supposed to sit on top of the nylon strap to keep your chin comfortable does not stay in place. It's not attached to the nylon strap. It's hard to get the chin strap undone. Like to feed it back through the d-rings is difficult. Hard to get the helmet off. The oval is a little bit off and presses against the middle of the back of your head. There's very little space between your face and the chin bar. My lips and chin rub the chin bar occasionally while talking. The pads are cheap and scratchy compared to other middle brands that I've worn. No breath box or way to fit one because the cheek pad rivets are in a ... MoreWould not recommend. And the shell and the rest of the plastic seems to be made out of cheap materials. That last one is just my personal opinion from holding the helmet in my hands. Would not buy again. Love it. Simple. Easily installed a Sena headset. Would highly recommend.
I have worn nothing but fox v1, buy the weight of the v1 was just to much. This alpinestar sm5 is super light. At just under 3lbs. Great ventilation, fits large goggles no problem. Also looks awesome. 10/10 would definitely buy one tomorrow if something happened to mine today.
