The side shell pair with soft EPS foam prevents collarbone injury in the event of an accident. Thanks to the emergency release system and removable cheek pads, the cheek pads can be easily and safely removed while the helmet is still on, while the 3D profile foam ensures the rider's comfort. The channels for the drinking tube are integrated into the helmet padding to enhance convenience and performance. The removable comfort lining is made from Silverplus treated antibacterial fabrics for excellent moisture management, effectively keeping sweat away from the skin. The antimicrobial lining is removable and washable. The chin strap made of soft textile is 26 mm wider than certification requirements to ensure optimal safety and comfort. The stainless steel D-rings provide a snug and secure fit. The lightweight outer shell is made from a technologically advanced, impact-resistant thermoplastic and is available in two sizes. The inner and outer surfaces are designed to minimize the effects of oblique impacts. The multi-density inner lining provides the right density in the right areas, resulting in better shock absorption. The patented visor release system ensures that the visor is released with a predetermined force regardless of the impact angle. Maximum ventilation and high heat exchange are achieved through multiple air inlets and exhaust openings. The visor is designed to direct air to the openings to improve air circulation. The Medium size weighs 1260 g (ECE) and 1370 g (DOT). The SM5 helmet meets both DOT and ECE certification for worldwide use.

I just recieved the helmet and am very impressed by the design and construction. It is one of the coolest dirt helmets I've seen over the years.I typically where a large in most helmets: Bell 500, Icon Alliance, SHoei RF-SR, Bell MX-9, Biltwell Gringo...This was extremely tight in cheeks, even more so than my Icon Airmada. After about 20 minutes of chillin in it I got a headache but not at any particular pinch points.I'm pretty bummed since this helmet is dope. I may try a size up or go back to my bell. But please just be aware this is a bit smaller than most larges I've worn (and worn in.)

so, I love the fit, the look, the weight. not very sure about all day use yet.the one thing that was driving me crazy is there is no DOT sticker, even knowing the description states that its both DOT and ECE approved. I was about to return it because I will be riding to the trails and I want a street legal helmet. Decided to contact alpinestars to clarify. turns out there is 2 versions of this helmet. an american version and a european version. as Canada now accepts ECE, we are only getting the ECE version and that does not have the sticker on the back. (the ece certification is on the chin strap )In short, I like everything about this helmet, but I wish it was clear in the description that it is not DOT.

Nice glove, fit and finish is good. Protection could be more but that is found in a more expensive glove. Got these for dual sport and it was a compromise between full-on protection and dexterity and feel. I think I found the happy medium. Alpinestars products do tend to run a bit small, I tend to wear a medium as I prefer my gloves a little tight but I sized up to large and tightly so... I think the medium would have been a bit too snug. Would recomend.

Very easy transactionHelmet arrived in good time with issues and is as describedVery pleased with the purchase and quality of the product
My helmet’s bottom trim started falling off in under 1 year. Sizing is off, had to size up to a large, I’m normally a medium. The visor isn’t adjustable at all which is pretty annoying in the sun. Trim on the bottom is falling off already after 1 year. Otherwise, it’s comfortable, has removable washable liners, good airflow.
I saw the Action 2 Black/White/Bright Red colored AlpineStars S-M5 at the store and had to have it. The graphics were perfect for my bike and iding gear. My older Sedici helmet was a size 7 3/4 to 7 7/8 (63 - 64 cm) so I first tried on a Medium and it was extremely tight and could barely get it off. I then tried on a Large and it was way too big. There should be at least two additional sizes between the Medium and Large. Very dissapointed wht Alpinestars.
Ordered XL and couldn't even get it on my head. I think the sizing chart is off. I measured my head at 24.2" which should be an XL, but literally couldn't even force it on my head. My other helmet is an XL and fits perfect.
Would not recommend. The helmet looks great, that's all the good I have to say about it. The chin strap is set back far enough to choke you. The fabric that's supposed to sit on top of the nylon strap to keep your chin comfortable does not stay in place. It's not attached to the nylon strap. It's hard to get the chin strap undone. Like to feed it back through the d-rings is difficult. Hard to get the helmet off. The oval is a little bit off and presses against the middle of the back of your head. There's very little space between your face and the chin bar. My lips and chin rub the chin bar occasionally while talking. The pads are cheap and scratchy compared to other middle brands that I've worn. No breath box or way to fit one because the cheek pad rivets are in a ... MoreWould not recommend. And the shell and the rest of the plastic seems to be made out of cheap materials. That last one is just my personal opinion from holding the helmet in my hands. Would not buy again. I have worn nothing but fox v1, buy the weight of the v1 was just to much. This alpinestar sm5 is super light. At just under 3lbs. Great ventilation, fits large goggles no problem. Also looks awesome. 10/10 would definitely buy one tomorrow if something happened to mine today.
I bought one of these two years ago, and I've taken more impacts with it than I should have and it has saved me more than enough times. The only complaint is that the plastic liner between the shell and the padding started to fall off and dangle, but that is to be expected with how many times I've crashed with it. I also found the helmet quite uncomfortable to get on and off when it was fresh. other than that cant complain for the price point.
