I wear a size 9 normally and purchased these in that size. The sizing seems accurate. I have an average width and depth foot with a normal arch. My toes are normally spaced and have wiggle room, which I like. I have had hip pain and low back pain in the past, so began wearing zero drop shoes 4 years ago to see if that made a difference; they do, and I havenāt looked back. If I keep up on walking regularly, I donāt have that hip or low back pain anymore. Most of my athletic footwear is the Altra brand. I have had one style I would not buy again, but the rest I have loved! On to my review of this shoe: Iāve worn them on 2, 4-mile walks, and on a 4.5-mile, dirt-path hike. If the surfaces I hiked were rockier, I could have tightened strategic areas of the shoe. All in all Iām pleased thus far. I will update if a problem crops up. At this stage, I would recommend them.

I really liked the Altra Women's Lone Peak ALL-Wthr Mid 2 Hiking Boots. These shoes were comfortable right out of the box. I did not have any pain around my ankle as some people have complained of. I ordered a size 10 which is what I wear in other woman's boots. They fit well.I enjoy the wider toe box. Other boots cramped my toes even when sized correctly. The outer two toes of each foot would always rub on the toe of the boots going downhill, not with the Altras! The ancle support is snug enough to keep my foot from sliding forward when hiking downhill. They also seem to be supportive enough to prevent me from twisting my ankles, I tend to turn my ankles.I like the "0" lift a lot! I suffered from Plantier Fasciitis and wear a custom molded insole. The insole lifts my heal a little. In other boots it caused my heal to be a little too high and I would sometimes slip on the downhill because of it. The "0" lift is great! It allows me to use my orthotics without my heal being lifted too high. It also fits nicely in the boot and still allows me to lace the boot tight enough not to slide. It seems like the waterproofing works well. I stepped in a couple puddles and didn't get soaked. The only criticism I have is that there isn't much padding. Long days can cause a little pain across the bridge of my foot. I see that Altra is now making a shoe with more padding. I think I'll try them for lighter hiking when I'm not in the mountains.

Bought these boots to hike the West Highland Way in Scotland and for hiking around home. For my feet, the Lone Peak footbed has made all the difference. These stood up well to very rainy weather on the trail. After being out an entire day in rain my feet got slightly damp by evening, but otherwise they held up well. Gripped the trail so a wet and slippery path was not a challenge. Steep climbs also easier with the flex. I tend to hike with thinner socks, so very rocky trails can be a bit of a problem. However, they seemed to cushion my feet well and would probably be fine with thicker socks. I am not sure how well they would stand up to a full load (we used day packs for WHW) or very rugged trails. One irritating issue: the shoestrings tend to come undone, even when double knotted. 4 stars for the waterproof failure and the shoe strings.

I used these to hike the Juan de Fuca a couple of weeks ago.Having worn Altra trail runners for years, I know and love the wide toe box and zero-drop style. The sizing is way off on this style - I had to size up a full size from my Lone Peak 5 trail runners, so even if you know this brand, I recommend trying the shoes on and not purchasing online. They are not fully waterproof; I hiked in them for 3 sunny, but muddy days, and by day 3, I could feel that the inside of my shoes was slightly damp just from occasional submersion in deep mud. The boot is comfortable and needs minimal wearing-in. However, the inside of the lace eyelets around the ankle did aggravate my feet a bit; you can feel them rubbing on the ankle bone, and this would have probably caused blisters ...Ā MoreI used these to hike the Juan de Fuca a couple of weeks ago.Having worn Altra trail runners for years, I know and love the wide toe box and zero-drop style. No regrets on the purchase!
I do love these shoes, my podiatrist recommended them for the wide toebox and ankle stability, but three times the lace from one shoe has gotten caught in a hook from the other shoe and twice caused me to fall. I wasn't even on a trail, just walking on flat even surface. Glad I wasn't on the stairs! When it happened last week, I came home and squashed all four down with the pliers so they won't catch anymore, but so the laces can still be threaded through. Definitely a design flaw. They should come with a warning before someone gets seriously hurt. It happens so fast! I see someone else also posted this issue. One other thing, I love the blue laces, but they're way too long. I've been triple tying them.
These feel great with my terrible feet. I do wear orthotic arch support insoles due to my flat feet. I remove the Altra insole. This works fine for me. I just got back from a week of walking and touring in Iceland. I found them to be decently warm with good socks and sneaker comfortable. My only gripe was while walking in an extended rain, like 1.5-2hrs of walking in rain, I think the water resistance reached its tipping point. It did seem to that it took being totally water logged for a long time for my feet to feel some moisture. However I was completely dry the rest of the trip which was varied terrain and weather. Puddles, hiking, etc. I struggle to find hiking boots. I have been using Altras for running for years. I'm hoping they continue to improve their ...Ā MoreThese feel great with my terrible feet. Ugh. So sad to say it but Iām fed up w Lone Peak and most of the Altra lineup. The toe box is roomy and great. But why does the mid and heel cup have to be almost just as wide? Who honestly has feet like this? I need a true waterproof lightweight mid w a large toe box for snow hiking in Appalachia and canāt find anything else. But I remember now why I hated these things. My foot just slides around on the inside now matter how itās laced and throws my entire biomechanics off. Hiked abt 13 miles to Mount Cammerer in them the other day. Half the trail was only abt .5 in. of snow so nothing worth needing the waterproof yet. no matter what the trail conditions were, I just felt a substantial injury was right around the corner. Fortunately Iām only just dealing with new tendon strain which I believe will heal quickly with rest but dang it Iām achy. My Topos or even hiking in Birkenstocks wouldnāt ever put me in this condition. And yes, they are the right size. Iāve owned abt 8 pairs of Altras now and I honestly donāt know why. Iāll be taking these back even thought Iām not sure what my next move is. All I can say is Altra, please consider a common sense redesign for a typical foot shape. Thanks.
So I had previously had a pair of altra racer trainers which I knew to be amazingly comfy due to the wide toe box, and had signed myself up to do the UK 3 peak challenge (Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike + transport within 24hours) with about a couple of weeks to go. As proficient at light jogging I was, I hadn't donned walking boots for about 20 years and needed something urgently I didn't need to break in.Wow - these really didn't disappoint. I have horrible feet, and loathe shoe shopping, so buying these online was a real gamble. After the challenge I noticed one issue - they were waterproof - but didn't ventilate that much... so my feet and boots were soaked with sweat - I fully appreciate though that 24 hours hiking is a bit excessive - normally one would ...Ā MoreSo I had previously had a pair of altra racer trainers which I knew to be amazingly comfy due to the wide toe box, and had signed myself up to do the UK 3 peak challenge (Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike + transport within 24hours) with about a couple of weeks to go. If you can now just make some heels that I could wear as comfortably, that would be great šš»
I've taken these out on the trails twice now for trekking (30km total) and I'm happy with their performance so far. I went through and hour of heavy rain and a large stream and my feet stayed dry. The Maxtrac claws outsoles are super grippy (although less so than on my shoes from 2 years ago, which performed better on wet surfaces so I guess something changed in Altra's manufacturing). For some reason the all-weather version of the Lone Peak shoes fit larger than the regular version of Lone Peak, so I suggest you go down a size (e.g. euro 40 to euro 39, or a half size if using US sizing). Note that the 39 in this all-weather Lone Peak fits like a 40 in Outroad and Rivera. Note that the 39 in this all-weather Lone Peak fits like a 40 in Outroad and Rivera. I was very disappointed that these don't include the "gaiter traps" for my Altra gaiters, because they're on the other models and obviously if you want ankle support and water resistance then you're likely to also be in situations where you might want gaiters. The cushioning is medium and it's enough, and they feel sufficiently firm with decent support, so I'm confident to wear them on the trails. The fabric makes a clunky sound when walking, a bit odd but you get used to it. The main reason I choose Altra is for the wide toe-box and they don't disappoint there, nice as roomy for natural foot movement. I'll choose to wear these on a long distance hike coming and I would recommend these to a friend.
I wanted to love these but due to their NOT being at all waterproof this caused many problems. I work outdoors and due to high humidity the morning dew on the grass causes dampness and this literally seeps in the shoe causing wetness all day and STINK. The interior of the shoe and my socks are literally wet all day long. I'm not walking through puddles. It's literally from the dew on the grass. Not a win. Trying out the timp to see how it does but liked the roominess and lack of stiffness of the shoe. Pretty comfortable as well but I cannot wear them. Worth noting I understand why someone said they trip. It's due to the lace hooks catching and that's pretty dangerous. Hope Altra upgrades and gets a better quality replacement.
