Almost completely useless

Just about everything I can think of that that you'd want a smartwatch to be, this one fails miserably. Firstly, I needed a watch that I could check the time on with a quick glance. I was hoping for the always-on option (suppose I could have found that this one didn't have it through more research). As it is, you usually have to do a REALLY overly emphatic wrist flip, sometimes twice, just to get the screen on. I even find myself pulling my phone out of my pocket just to check the time, because that is legit easier and quicker than this watch. Notifications are hit or miss. Sometimes the watch is just like "nah, I dont want to show you that someone called or texted." Biometrics are so off its completely useless -- step count, HR, blood O2 sats, all very inaccurate. ... MoreJust about everything I can think of that that you'd want a smartwatch to be, this one fails miserably. Because of having the original watch, it was extremely confusing and labororious to resolve account issues then connection problems. I changed passwords three or more times, and after a couple of hours finally was able to get the watched paired with my phone. Oddly, I think the synching problems were because of having two similar watches. In fact, I think all previous exercise data was moved to the newer account. Issues with pairing were similar with the first watch. Forgetting the password doesn't help the situation. The watch has a bright display, great features but they all don't work well. Initial set up was difficult synching with the Zepp app. 9 out of 10 times the weather temp is not available, the display only shows the forecasted high and low for the day. Alexa feature, 9 out of 10 times it says "network error, try later". Alexa is not available when my phone and everything else connected to my network is working whether I am close to my router or not. Cycling workout speed and distance are being displayed in meters when measurements were set for miles not meters. Racquetball and Pickle Ball sports are more popular here in the US and should have been added instead of Badminton, which I use as a substitute as a workout exercise. The biggest disappointment is the short battery life. It only last about 3 days, not seven before it needs a recharge. I hope AMAZFIT will provide an update to address my concerns and make this watch more user friendly. This is the best quality watch for the money providing constant heart rate, sleep monitoring and physical activity.

Just what I need

I like it a lot. It's about what you would expect for the price, and it has all the features I really wanted (heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, ************ tracking, & weather). I don't really like that the screen isn't flat, but the convex screen does improve screen viewing from different angles. It also has a very sharp display. I haven't been able to connect it to Alexa successfully yet, but I use Google Assistant, not Alexa, anyway so I'm not bothered. If I can keep good care of this for a few years, I can justify purchasing a more extravagant smartchwatch. Until then, this will do.Note: It was kind of hard to find cases for this one online. Still found some, but the cutest ones were never for the this model.

According to Amazfit website, the Band 5 battery life is 15 days (assuming 30 minutes for automatically heart rate detection, 100 notifications, 30 wrist lifts, and 5 minutes of other operations every day. 30 minutes of running every three days). I had to return my first one because it wouldn't hold a charge - after 2 hours it was down to 85%. It took (as noted on the website two days) for someone to get back to me via email. I tried calling without any success. It was no problem to request a replacement but they would/could only send a digital copy of the return postage label. It took me a bit to figure out a way to get it printed since I don't have a printer (a common issue for customers I imagine where so much can be done digitally without needing to print). Once I was able to get the itemed shipped (returned). It was pretty quick for a new one to be sent out to me. But already, I'm noticing the battery doesn't hold a long of charge as advertised. After a night's sleep (approx. wearing it for 10 hours) the band was already down to 85%. Better than the first band 5 sent me - but still not great. At this rate I don't see how a battery charge can last 15 days based on use they describe. I'm interested to see how long, overall this band/watch lasts. I switched from Fitbit because I was annoyed that their watches only lasted about 18 months before giving out completely. I might have to switch back to Fitbit because at least with their trackers I can get at least a week's worth of use on a charge.

New and non-functional

I've spent nearly two days trying to get this device up and running. After a brief charge, a language choice appeared on the screen. I chose English, then got a message Pair with phone. And that is where the trouble began. My Android phone initially found the device and the Bluetooth screen said it was connected. However, the device screen is black and has remained so ever since. I charged in for 12 hours, but the screen remains black. There's no apparent button to press. Now, my phone's Bluetooth screens says it has connected with the device previously but can't find it now. No altitude data. Very disappointing!!!!!!!!!
17 June 2023

Amazfit do not mention that the watch has no altitude data in the advertising. I bought it via Aliexpress and did non understand why altitude data did not appear on zepp life app. I had the gtr 42 that worked perfectly and I upgraded to this one. I think I'm done with Amazfit. I understand the price is not high, but I was not expecting that a GPS watch would not show altitude data. I connected it to Strava and within Strava the altitude data is showing which demonstrates that the watch has altitude capability. I think they deliberately blocked the altitude in Zepp for this model. The solution with Strava is far from good since the conncetion to Zepp is bad and sometimes data is not migrating to Strava and also Strava costs extra money. I love my Bip U Pro watch. I previously had a garmin instinct solar 2 and before that, strictly Apple watches. The Amazfit is pretty cool so far! It does everything I'm interested in (which isn't much) at a fraction of the price. If I get a big tax refund this year, I'll definitely be buying a higher end amazfit (didn't have the funds this time - bad 2023 for me). All in all, it's a great watch!

Better than all my MiBands, but sadly not a LOT more. The sleep tracker is much better, noting awake times in the night.I love the face, but wish I could drop the ‘steps’ and have a larger day/date. Do they think all their custmoers are teenagers with perfect vision?!The constant heart-rate is awesome, the screen brightness control is welcomed (my MiBands were useless in sunlight), and the time adjustable ‘dim for night’ is great. The first three are battery killers - but livable. Charging every 12 days, instead of 30+.Same MiBand straps, so expect it to fall off far too often. They also make nothing to fit my 100lb wife, so how big are the wrists on these teenagers with perfect vision? No comment on the fitness stuff. If I could delete the rest, I would.VERY limited replacement screens, and all are like Mickey Mouse or video games for the same teenagers. Little online is any better (for me), and using them voids the band warranty!!
