My husband and I absolutely love our new Amazon FireStick 4K. Our last FireStick went and we needed a new one so we decided to upgrade to the 4K version. It allows you to view more 4K content than the regular FireSticks and is a lot faster. We literally have FireSticks on all the TV's in our house! FireSticks have more storage space on them than any other kind of streaming device, so you can download and watch movies and shows on all your favorite apps like Hulu, Netflix, Disney+, etc. I also like that it has the built in Amazon Alexa Voice Assistant, so with the push of a button you can say "Alexa play this..." or "Alexa search for that...", and it will automatically do it for you. It has buttons on the bottom of the remote for Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and Amazon Video so that you can get to them quickly as well. We were able to get it for $7 a month through Amazon, interest free for 5 months, which was awesome instead of having to pay for it all up front, because ours broke kind of unexpectedly and we didn't really have the extra money for that at the time, so it was a really nice option that they offered. I definitely recommend Amazon FireSticks and will absolutely continue using and purchasing them in the future!

I had an android box for the longest time and personally I thought firesticks were stupid. I had never used one and thought why would I need this?! Well now, I have completely ditched our android box and we have multiple firesticks. The interface is easy to use. You can sync your Amazon Prime TV, Hulu, Disney Netflix etc. However if you do not have any of those subscriptions it does have some built in apps you can use to get tv/movies. It has the internet so it basically turns your tv into a giant computer screen You can also stream on websites (if you know the ones đ) For maximum streaming I would recommend downloading Kodi onto it. This device is definitely worth the price. Even better if you can score it during prime days, black Friday, or boxing day .

Fire TV wasnât anything to write home about previously (some apps not working properly, too many prominent ads, limited storage space) but wasnât that far behind Roku as it had far superior speed when switching apps and navigating within apps. Now, with the latest update, the focus is ENTIRELY about Amazonâs bottom line (ads). Screen is so cluttered with ads that itâs a minor chore getting to the app you want. You have to tile through at least one of their ads to get your app. For those who havenât used Roku, they have only one ad that is placed non-obtrusively to the right of the apps. And *still*, certain apps like CNN almost never work properly (always frozen), so what was the reason for the update besides more ads?And just noticed there is NO CBS, and when ... MoreFire TV wasnât anything to write home about previously (some apps not working properly, too many prominent ads, limited storage space) but wasnât that far behind Roku as it had far superior speed when switching apps and navigating within apps. Now, with the latest update, the focus is ENTIRELY about Amazonâs bottom line (ads). You wonder how many other channels are gone now, too.Much slower now. Used to be pretty quick and smooth navigating but no more, can talk up to a minute sometimes. And a few times the TV has even failed to start up. One time I tried to start Netflix, nothing happened so I went to another app, and as that was slowly opening I heard the Netflix opening chime. None of this happened before the update. And to get to the cable box before you just had to tile left once, simple. Now you have to tile to the left twice and down? The inputs used to be easily accessible from the main menu but now you have to go to a special tab, and then it drops down to the inputs. WHY?Oh yeah⌠they need more space for all the new ADS.Reminds me of how Amazon customer service used to be super helpful and almost unctuous. And now theyâre almost rude. One reason why I rarely buy from Amazon nowadays. Iâm staying with Roku (whose only major flaw, speed, is now comparable to fire stick) from now on, or trying Apple TV. I might actually have to buy one of those sticks now, on the TV that has Fire TV already installed.
What a frustrating device this is. If your interest in just streaming video services, it might suit your needs. In that respect, however, this Fire TV Stick is no better than the Roku stick I've had for years. The reason I bought this product is to be able to stream Amazon HD Music and at that task this product performs poorly. It does not help that Amazon provides basically no support outside of an online forum where their customer service reps have very little knowledge. Here are my major issues:1. Out of the box, this product is not set to deliver the highest quality audio. Not only does the consumer need to go into settings for the Fire Stick to tell it to play the best quality audio, but then you need to go into the settings in the Amazon Music app itself to ... MoreWhat a frustrating device this is. Not only does the consumer need to go into settings for the Fire Stick to tell it to play the best quality audio, but then you need to go into the settings in the Amazon Music app itself to tell it to play the highest quality audio available.2. Even after making those settings, at best I might get 3 or 4 songs in a row playing at cd-level quality or higher. The next track would drop down to a lossy (compressed) version. It isn't that the track wasn't available in a higher resolution; it's that either this product or the app would decide to downgrade the audio every 10-15 minutes, even though I was way more than enough bandwidth to stream HD video and audio.3. It is *impossible* to listen to Atmos music on this product unless you believe that you are getting the Atmos experience out of headphones or a small, all-in-one speaker array. You cannot plug this into an AVR and listen to Atmos music via your home theater speakers; you can only get stereo if you listen that way. Even though this product is marketed as featuring Atmos capability, it really should say "for movies only."I am a PC/Android guy through and through. I've never owned an Apple product in my entire life. I finally bought an Apple TV device and guess what? Apple Music automatically plays Atmos in surround on my home theater without me needing to go into any settings. It just works. I'm still not a fan of Apple for a variety of reasons, but at least in this case they made a device that does what it should unlike this poor product. Granted, the Apple stick costs about four times as much but I would have been happy to have stayed with Amazon, its hardware and music app if they worked properly. Paying a discounted price for something that doesn't work properly isn't a bargain but rather a waste of money.
Make any TV a smart TV! I don't have a smart TV. Was streaming using apps on the Xbox One or on mobile devices, so I wondered if something like this was even worth it. It totally is. Wish I had bought one a long time ago. Makes my TV a lot more functional & worthwhile.Everything is all in one place. There are apps/channels I can get on the fire stick that aren't available on Xbox. When streaming using a console or mobile device channel surfing isn't much of a thing and it's more intentional. Music apps such as Amazon Music & Pandora are also available. The home shopping channels - QVC & HSN are in one app. You can have links to the products being shown sent to your phone, which is cool. Whichever subscription services you use can be placed on the top to access easily. The Fire TV stick would be good even if you don't subscribe to anything because of the free TV apps. There is a live TV guide that will show you what's playing on all the live channels in your apps, such as Pluto TV & Tubi, so you don't have to open them up individually and look. The remote is really nice and intuitive. It is the only thing I need to control it while watching TV. Alexa integration is nice and can be helpful. Weather forecasts, announcements, & Alexa's answers show upon the screen. I can use the voice control to ask for local news and get a local channel playing the latest broadcast. I can also ask for specific genre's or actors.Plugging it in and setting it up didn't take that long and it was easy.Overall, the Fire TV stick is a great thing to have for streaming and watching TV. Totally worth it - especially during a sale.
I'll be the first to admit that I really do not like Fire OS for TV devices. I find FireTVs and Fire Sticks to be clunky. The only reason I bought this is because I want to watch some things on Discovery+ in 4K, meaning that I either have to have a Fire Stick, FireTV, or Apple TV. This was the cheapest option. The Firestick itself works well. The price was right, and the OS is snappy enough. A small HDMI extension is included. The reason this review is 3 stars is the poor build quality on the remote. I am by no means the incredible hulk, but there is a significant amount of flex in the control. One could argue that it should be expected for a device at this price point, but the fact that I have a cheap Insignia TV with a much sturdier FireTV remote pokes a hole in ... MoreI'll be the first to admit that I really do not like Fire OS for TV devices. I like the fire sticks overall, BUT, a big BUT, beware, I had to get this one because my 2 year firestick wouldn't update anymore. It was the last generation one. I spent TWO hrs on the phone trying to get help, only for them to say they really only last 2 years. And said I hadn't updated it for the last year. they knew that but couldn't update it or help me get into the firestick? Why? Usually tv updates default and they've come on all my tvs without me needing to search for updates. I checked my other tvs, they were all updated and I never updated them once. Something else was going on I think but they wouldn't do much to help me out. Poor customer service all around by Amazon. Make sure you know you are updated!!
I like this product. We are first time cord cutters and with assistance from a Best Buy associate and watching videos online, we were able to leave Comcast and join the streaming video world. Firestick makes it pretty easy, and we are liking the change. The voice control feature is neat. There is a learning curve and some things on Firestick are not as easy to figure out as others. I like the ability to enter different viewer profiles. We bought Firesticks for each TV we own because we only had one smart TV and so the viewing experience would be the same on each one. I have no idea how Firestick compares to Roku or Chrome as we have never used either of those products.I miss having one program guide which shows ALL the channels including public free channels ... MoreI like this product. I have no idea how Firestick compares to Roku or Chrome as we have never used either of those products.I miss having one program guide which shows ALL the channels including public free channels available over my antenna. I understand that there is a product called Air TV which I wish I had known about sooner, as I understand it has that feature. There was an offer for it when I signed up with AT&T but it was not well explained, and I missed out on it. Now that I have an antenna for the free channels, it isn't really worth going back and paying $100 for an Air TV device. There are some program guides in Firestick menus, but they are comprehensive and cover every channel you have available on your streaming service and free channels you have downloaded, so it is massive, but it doesnât cover network station airing on free channels. Anyway, Iâm liking the change from cable TV and there is more channels and programming than anyone can possibly watch which was not available with comcast. If we can cut the cable at our age, anyone can do it. Talk to a Best Buy associate, watch some videos, talk to folks who have done it, and you can do it and save a bundle of $$.
I donât write reviews often, but I learned a few tricks that solved issues Iâve had over the years. I hope this helps others with seemingly unsolved issues with firesticks.Firstly Iâve been using firesticks even before 4K TVs and theyâve almost always have worked well. The occasional restart/reboot on older models were something my family got used to. I eventually replaced all older units with this 4K version. And now never have to reboot. Although this has slightly better remote function, itâs essentially the same as the 2018/2019 version. The 4K Max has the spec bump and quicker less congested WiFi 6 configurations.Okay, so my biggest gripe with the firestick had to do with it not always playing HDR or Dolby Vision, which defeats the purpose of it being a 4K ... MoreI donât write reviews often, but I learned a few tricks that solved issues Iâve had over the years. Iâve scoured tons of forums and looked at countless YouTube videos regarding this. But either the solutions didnât work, or they would only be HDR 10 when the nicer Dolby Vision was available.
