Just got one of these to replace the recently withdrawn Vodafone TV. It's very stable and responsive and the remote works well (it's Bluetooth and is much easier to use for Fast Forward than our Apple TV remote which was touchy). You can sideload the Freeview app for live streaming (instructions for this are on geekzone nz forum - search for "How to install Freeview on Amazon Fire stick max 4K"). Loading VLC from the Amazon app store also lets it stream video from my NAS (albeit I had to use the Downloader install an earlier version of VLC due to a glitch with latest release that was requiring password access to the NAS - info on the net via google). Outstanding hardware for the price (specially on sale).I bought this as part of my travel kit mainly to run PLEX. My main media player is an nVidia shield pro.The firestick holds its own against the Shield no problem.80Mbps+ 4k HDR Movie plays flawlessly over local network (have not tried remotely yet)."Sideloading" apps (if that is you want to do) is so easy to do, it should barely be called a hack. The amazon app store had everything I needed so have not actually try to install any other APK.Only Drawback is that you have to put up with the amazon content whether you like it or not. At the price, no drama in my opinion.

I have been using the Amazon Fire Stick 4K Max to watch All 4 in high definition, along with other channels, including Now TV and Amazon Prime. My LG TV (which is a 2020 model) does not have the All 4 app on at all, while my version of the BT YouView box does not support high definition viewing via the apps. The Fire Stick has full versions of the All 4 app plus the full ITVX app, amongst others. These versions show the live channels as well as catch up TV. The Alexa voice control is fun and useful. The Fire Stick was very easy to set up, you just plug it into a spare HDMI port on the back of the TV with the extender and into a spare electrical socket. It works really well on Wi-Fi. I would recommend this device if, like me, you are constrained by the apps available ... This review is based on the fact i purchased by very first Firestick streaming device, i got the Firestick 4K Max, connected to my Asus RT-AX82U Wi-Fi 6 router, and the speed is fantastic! No lag, no pauses, freezing, like my other older box. What a huge difference!I'm very happy with my Firestick 4K Max device, it came with a HDMi extender, cable, charger, and 2 little booklets. There's many other streaming devices out there, it depends on your needs and if you prefer an Apple iOS, or an Android based OS.I personally love both, they have their pros and cons, of course.Just be aware that you'll be prompted to update the devices software prior to use, I had 2 updates to install before i started using it.Also, make sure your modem/router settings have the ... Stick is one of the best on market. Of course you may buy Nvidia or other "box type", but if you would like to have mobility this is the best to go with.Remote control: comparing to chromecast and others, this has volume buttons in front and for seniors it is much more user friendly (like standard tv control).Amazon has more commercials then google. F.ex. in Youtube you may observe more content above the search which is useless. When you search content it will always propose you Prime even non-free, and even you bought it on Netflix or Disney. So your query should be more precise while using mic.Overall I studied a lot as I bought it for my parents who uses tv picture type (with passepartout). (boxes i keep in other league - nvidia and gaming etc.)Such stick you may preinstall and you can just take it and go to any device with hdmi + wifi or hostpot from mobile will work.
Bought the Fire TV 4K Max right before 2022 Xmas for my bedroom TV for about $54. So happy with the purchase. The pre-installed apps such as YouTube, Netflix, TVNZ+, ThreeNow, Skysports Now are very handy. Just log in with your own account or create a new account (if you don't have one yet) and you are good to go.Icing on the cake is that you can sideload third party apps on Fire TV stick. You can find the how-to videos on YouTube easily. The user interface and remote operation are smooth as. You can use the stick's remote to turn on/off TV and control TV volume, meaning if you don't watch aerial channels on TV you don't actually need your TV's orginal remote.Don't forget you can also connect your wireless earphones to the stick via bluetooth to enjoy high ... Those pre-installed New Zealand TV apps are awesome.
I purchased this with the hope of eliminating Movies and other things from Rogers, Netflix, etc. I was able to add software to it, and now I am able to stream movies without monthly charges. Young kids will set you up. I also found tv shows like this new prequel to Game of Thrones. And listed under wrestling was UFC. Note this is all under the software a young person added. As for what comes with it, add any number of things like Netflix, prime of course, tv channels... Google what you can get. Last, I don't have a great internet service, and it buffers hardly at all. I'm very pleased. I paid about half price, maybe 50. Now I can take movies on the road, or move it from tv to tv k the home easily.
This little fella saved Christmas! We moved into a new build house just before Christmas 2022 and had no opportunity or time to sign up to any TV service. Having read all the positive reviews on the Amazon Firestick, I decided to take the plunge and buy this little gadget. It works using wifi and so long as you have an Amazon Prime account, you can watch all terrestrial programmes as well as all the usual Netflix, Disney+, BBC iPlayer, ITVX etc. etc. Christmas was therefore saved. It works so well that I have decided not to sign up to any expensive TV provider since the Firestick does it all. It's a one-off cost rather than signing up and being committed to an ever increasing, costly annual contract. Highly recommend - will be buying another stick for a second ... The advantages of this Amazon Firestick are: 1. It is small, unlike my Roku or Apple TV 4K 2. It has an HDMI adapter so it doesnt have to be plugged into your TV/projector directly 3. It has an Australian power plug, not an adapter 4. It has Apple TV and all the other channels I want 5. You can jailbreak it to get Kodi and other apps from external sources 6. It has a user-friendly menu 7. It is 4K 8. It has Alexa, though I havent yet used Alexa on this device 9. It is very easy to use and set up 10. It performs well and very smoothly without any glitches or errors 11. It is very good value for money! I am using it for my projector. I am delighted with this product. I have Roku Ultra 4K, Apple TV 4K and I just got rid of Google Chrome Ultra 4K. I think this device is ... MoreThe advantages of this Amazon Firestick are: 1. I think Apple TV 4K is a bit better in that it has more apps and a better user interface but Apple TV cant be jailbroken and it is much, much more expensive. For the price you cant do better than Amazon Firestick 4K.
Pro:✅ WiFi 6 support.✅ New remote control (Known from the FireTV Stick 3rd generation).✅ Only 5 euros costlier when compared to the 4K stick.✅ Dolby Vision / Atmos , HDR10+ and HDR10.✅ Faster than the old 4K Stick(25 seconds faster. It's extremely handy to make an older TV smart. The most important TV Channels can be watched directly via FireTV and you save on the cable TV connection. With WiFi 6, you can of course achieve significantly higher and more stable data transmissions. If the better WLAN is not an argument and there are no plans to switch to a 4K TV in the near future, the normal FireTV Stick will suffice. If your WiFi connection is not sufficient enough to trasmit the signal, you can use FireTV Ethernet adapter , which is compatible with all the newer FireTV Sticks. There are many streaming sticks out there, but the FireTV is clearly arguably the best streaming product. The larger gap between FireTV 4K and the FireTV Cube was not closed, but filled up a bit.Anyone who owns a 4K television should at least choose the Fire TV Stick 4K. For UHD fans, Fire TV Stick 4K Max is the best choice. If you have a Wi-Fi 6 router and have many devices running on your WLAN, you can benefit from more stable 4K performance. But even without Wi-Fi 6, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max has the edge.
