It's a great, affordable option for those of us that don't sweat the extremely minor inconveniences of life.

Firestick lite? I wouldn't say so. This version of the fire stick has all the features of a regular firestick without Dolby quality sound, volume controls, and a power button.Pros It still has 1080p HD quality video, quad core processor and 802.11 AC wifi connection. Quad core CPU 1.7Ghz 1Gb DDR4 RAM 8 gig internal storage. A small portion is of it is used for the OS. So it more like 5 gig for applications. Its running the same Fire OS 7.2.2.3 as the regular FIrestick. Dual band WiFi AC.Alexa voice remote.Cons (difference) whats new?- No IR remote control. What this means is:- No power control for TV, or other devices.- No volume buttons for TV.This is what makes it Lite because you dont get the standard 2nd generation remote.- No Dolby vision- No Dolby Atmos sound. ... MoreFirestick lite? And for a person just getting into streaming devices this is the least expensive option compared to all the other devices on the market period. I know all the features, the in and outs, and tricks on how to use each and every one of these devices, so when they came out with the lite I had to try it. It doesn't disappoint. It is the same fire stick but just try to imagine, or remember the fire stick before 4K, and before the power options and volume remote the IR features. It actually has the same power, and performance as the 4K Firestick, just 1080p HD. This was just a way for to corner the market by having the cheapest streaming device on the market ahead of all the new competition bringing out streaming devices. And again, it does not disappoint. Its also faster than the standard 2nd gen Firestick, so if you have a 2nd gen this is a very economical upgrade. With the lite there's no cheaper device this good on the market, and no reason to buy any other device on the market if you are just getting started, and now has a device for all price points, this is the economy package.Great job !

I'm glad I purchased this. I don't have cable tv and this was able to expand the amount of tv shows and movies I can watch. The setup was easy and the controls are simple, which I am happy about because it makes it easy for my mom to use. My tv is a bit older, so I don't have apps built in. Glad I can watch stuff like Netflix on my tv now. Thinking I should've bought a fire stick sooner. I also bought a fire stick 4k, but I'm not as pleased with that one because sometimes the video freezes or it gets stuck on the menue screen. I bought the 4k, after the lite. But I wish I just bought another fire stick lite instead. The fire stick lite runs more smoothly. We already had a Roku premiere plus 4K unit however we get dozens of OTA channels with our antenna and wanted something that could put all our media in one spot, using one device. The stick comes with what you need to get started. Batteries, charger, cable, hdmi connection and an hdmi extender for those who need one. If unsure how it all connects I included photos showing that. It was as simple to install as you could hope for, no rocket scientist needed so to speak. We have streaming services like YouTube TV, Prime, Netflix, CBS all access, etc. As said we also get a lot of OTA channels using our antenna thanks to our signal amplifier. Once setup is complete by pressing the tv with rabbit ears you will go to the channel guide section. There it starts out with the OTA channels, then YouTube TV and so on.Also you have the home button. That takes you to the main page showing all your media sources and recently used channels. There is a menu across the top with viewing options. On the far right as we have a recast device, there is DVR. So again everything all in one spot using one device, just what we wanted. The remote response is fast, much more than expected. Compared to the Roku premiere plus 4K, there is no comparison it is that much faster. Honestly that surprised me considering the Roku cost 6X what I paid for this stick. Picture quality to myself is no different than if viewing using the stock smart TV apps or Roku device.Plenty of useful options and settings with the device. As mentioned we have the recast and paired with this stick the two together are a wonderful pairing. The first one worked so well I ordered a second for our mom. I only bring that up because she still cannot even fathom how to set the clock on her old VCR. Anything even remotely tech related means I have to take care of it for her. This fire stick and the remote are so well designed I was able to give her one. It took me all of ten minutes to show her how to use it. since she not only can use the fire device, tv how she wants and when she wants but it also gave her a little positive, confidence boost being able to use tech that before was always too complicated for her to use.The only minor negative is voice control. Sometimes it gets it right other times it doesn't but does get to the 'general neighborhood' so to speak. We got both of ours when they were priced at seventeen bucks. Well worth it and then some in all of our opinions in this household. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this to anyone. Those intimidated by tech or those like myself who simply want everything in one spot with one remote to access it all from.

I've been threatening to "cut the cord" for years. When the cable bill hit nearly 50% of my property tax bill, I realized it was time. The Firestick is stupid simple to set up and the product I purchased to adapt an old TV to HDMI (also purchased thru ) was also very easy to set up. I now have three Firesticks and am saving a boatload on cable!!! This product has everything you could want in terms of Apps and the only drawback is that cable companies don't stream all apps (mine doesn't live stream ABC). However, most have delayed-view options (no subscription necessary) on the few Network shows I would watch (like GMA). I'm not sure if we can use this forum to recommend one of the live streaming apps and there are a lot of them at varying costs-per-month but I find ... MoreI've been threatening to "cut the cord" for years. Don't put it off! Take the plunge and cut the cable!

First of all, this is the lite.. But let's get real here. Do we actually need seperate buttons for Netflix, Disney or Hulu just to pay more? No. The lite does not have those extra buttons but who cares. It still has Alexa voice and super easy to use.1. It's heavy duty remote yet small. Definitely can with stand a fall but the gorgeous sleek design is perfection.2. No it doesn't have the Netflix button, or a volume button. But since my volume stays at one level all the time that does not bother me at all. Plus I really don't care about 4 extra buttons to press for Netflix, Hulu etc. When I can just tell the remote to open the app for me3. It has games to play with your family for free too. This will NOT DISAPPOINT anyone.Set up is super easy and fast, just plug and play.

I have been a long time Fire Stick user since 2015. I have 3 - and all of them are gen 1s. Yes, the upgrade has been long overdue. And wow, gen 3 is incredibly fast. Some thoughts and tips:1) The out of the box experience was very smooth. If you are familiar with Fire Stick of any generation, then everything will be very familiar to you. It checked for new software update which took a few minutes, but I was up and running in no time.2) (Coming from gen 1), the remote feels more "premium". The buttons are rubber on gen 3, as opposed to hard plastic on gen 1.3) I bought the "lite" because a) I don't have a 4K TV (and therefore no need for a Fire Stick 4K) and b) didn't really care for the additional features of "standard" compared to "lite'. As far as I can tell, there are only 2 differences: 1 TV controls (on/off and volume) and 2. Dolby Atmos. Neither of these mattered to me.4) If your wifi connection is dodgy, do yourself a big favor and get an ethernet connector. It tremendously improves the experience. In this regard, you don't have to buy the branded one. Search for "KOOPAO Micro USB to RJ45 Ethernet Adapter" on and save yourself $5.This is so worth the upgrade - especially those who are still running gen 1.

I got this as a gift for my parents. I got them a chromecast originally, but they are very old school and casting from a device rather than using a traditional remote was too complicated for them.I was going to get them a Roku, but decided on this since they are avid Prime members and both use Kindles. If you have Prime, this makes sense. It integrates with their music and video services well. The search feature will show what you can watch for free or make purchases to rent and buy from the device. The interface is pretty good if you use it only for Prime. If you are a heavy Netflix, Hulu, Plex or other third party user, this is less than great. All of the Prime content gets its own thumbnail in the home screen. But each of those apps get the one, so you'll see ... MoreI got this as a gift for my parents. But each of those apps get the one, so you'll see the last 5 shows you watched on Amazon and only the one image to encompass all of Netflix. Once you are in Netflix, you get the familiar interface though. It wish the interface was more like Roku, where each app is treated equally. Clearly, Amazon wants to keep you accessing their content by default, and their interface accomplishes this. But, like I said, since my parents are Prime (and don't use Netflix or Hulu) this was a good option for them. They actually get use out of this one and have no difficulty navigating around. There is little troubleshooting need, as well.Bottom line, get this if you are a devoted Amazon Prime fan and primarily use their services. It is a good product for the money. Otherwise, spend the same cash on a comparable Roku.

[Rewarded Review] Fantastic and portable streaming stick
11 January 2016

This is an excellent little device that does almost everything that I could ask it to. It plugs into an HDMI port on the TV as well as a wall socket for power (cable included). After setting up a Wifi connection and linking to your Amazon account, the rest is pretty seamless. It grants access to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, and a host of other video streaming options. Spotify is available through the Spotify Connect app, which requires you to log in from another device (phone, tablet, computer), which then streams the music through your TV. Additionally, there's a Fire TV app that allows you to control the stick through your phone if you so choose (particularly useful for text input). For those more technically inclined, sideloading APKs through ADB over wireless is pretty simple, and I was able to get Kodi (formerly XBMC) installed and running with minimal fuss. One of my favorite aspects of this, however, is how portable it is: I can toss it into a bag whenever I travel, and so long as Wifi is available, I have streaming video available on any TV I have access to, instead of having to watch it through a phone or tablet.A couple issues: app selection is limited to whatever Amazon deems acceptable through their app market. Easily overcome with sideloading APKs, but users shouldn't have to work through ADB to get access to apps they want. Secondly, the Second Screen feature (Miracast) is pretty neat, but buggy for me (using a Fire HDX, 3rd generation).Overall, this is a great, low-profile solution to get streaming services on your TV. The problems I've had are obnoxious, but minor, and would not prevent me from getting another one in the future.

[Rewarded Review] Finally, the one ring to rule them all!
8 May 2021

I own the previous model and this is a much better experience. First off the remote is a huge improvement. The power button on the remote can turn on my tv, my receiver, fire stick, and switch the inputs automatically so the fire stick is on screen and ready to go with just one click of the power button. It's really nice. This is how it should have been all along. It gets even better though... lets say my TV is already on, and my receiver is set to a different input such as my FIOS tv box? All you do is click the home button on the remote and the remote switches the receiver to the correct hdmi input on the receiver for the fire stick! One remote to rule them all, and yes it controls volume on the receiver too! This is excellent. It's highly configurable. You can define which inputs get picked when hitting the power and home button. You can define which device the volume buttons control. Amazon has done a great job with the Fire Stick 4K.
