Recently upgraded from an old FX-8350 to the Ryzen 5 5600 What can i say about the processor..... well, WOW. Granted it isn't THE top processor on the market at the moment, but it can very easily hold its own again the majority of its rivals. When paired with the right graphics card and memory, this CPU will perfectly run every game on at least minimal settings, and going by my setup, it will play 97% of ALL games at recommended. As for the price......... well, it is an extremely attractive choice for those on a budget as myself, and is DEFINATELY worth the cost. I cannot recommend this CPU any higher. it is a definate yes for pretty much everything. price, power consumption, even the sound from the fan is extremely quiet. I upgraded from a gen one ryzen 5 1600 to this cpu. Runs cooler and reaches max frequency of 4.4 Gz easy on my 4 year old mini-itx mother board (sustained under full core load , it holds this) I would recommend a cheap aftermarket cooler on this , for much lower temps than standard cooler (which works fine). Having a better cooler on the cpu and it runs at max 4.4 easy consistently at full 6 core/12 thread loads no problem. Stock cooler may not give u full performance I have a cheap coolermaster 410R 90mm tower cooler (fits in my small cube case with my mini-itx board).Keeps cpu about 15 deg C cooler than stock cooler. NOTE: ===== I needed the lastest bios to use a 5000 series ryzen cpu, so check your motherboard support site to confirm and do that before installing this cpu.

Lots of people *talk* about the latest and the greatest, but most people are better off buying lower end stuff after they're no longer "the latest." Except for a small minority of people, even the "lower end" is more than capable, for much less money. 6 cores / 12 thread is fantastic for most anything these days. Wraith Stealth is adequate, but personally, I'd rather skip that and get a few dollars discount and a smaller box. If they're willing to throw in a Wraith Spire, I'd take that, though, as Spire is definitely a capable cooler. Attached CPU-Z voltage is not correct. HWInfo64 shows it sets VID of 0.950V, with real measured voltage slightly lower than that. Even at max boost, it's barely over 1.2V. This is all you need unless you have a professional reason to have a stronger CPU (you will know if that's the case), or if you're willing to spend double the price of this to get on average 10% more performance in games. By the time games truly utilize more than 6 cores you will need to upgrade this anyways. Single threaded perf is more important than core count for the average consumer. Dropped in replacement to replace a 2700x which I gave to someone for a budget build. Performance in games is noticeably faster with a 3080 on 1440P high refresh rate. Less stuttering and way better 0.1% and 1% lows. Couldn't be happier. Good price point. Easy setup. Comes with cooler

Bought this as part of a budget build for graphics programming plus light gaming. Performed well on the cinabench with 9998 pts for multi-core performance and 1468 points for single core performance. The stock cooler is performing well so far however I have not yet tested it under heavy loads. I assembled the desktop myself and it was fairly straightforward. Also received another discount by pairing this CPU with the motherboard I bought so that was another plus. So in the end this CPU cost $150 pre-tax. Overall would definitely recommend.

I've found this has unlocked performance in games where I was previously CPU limited, in some extreme cases by almost a similar amount. I would recommend the 5600 as an upgrade for those wanting to get the most life out of their existing AM4 platform. This being that AM5, requiring DDR5, is an expensive upgrade proposition for a little more performance over the 5k series. With a simple BIOS update, this was a drop in replacement for my board (B450). I believe this offers better value than the 5600X, of which you can likely match the clock speeds if you so wish. At the time of writing, the X variant is £30 more. Great Upgrade for Asrock A320M-HDV-R4.0 Mainboard

We bought a prebuilt Microcenter Powerspec pc a couple years ago with a Ryzen 3400g CPU for my nephew to play some basic games and start learning more about computers, upgrades, etc. The PC has an Asrock A320M-HDV R4.0 motherboard in it. After the first year, we got an Nvidia 1650 Super gpu from Microcenter to add into it and now after 2 years we decided to upgrade the CPU to the Ryzen 5 5600. Just a note, you have to upgrade the bios in this board first to Revision 7.0 and then after that you can upgrade to the current bios which right now is 7.40. The thermal paste apparently tends to get it stuck on the CPU so I had to apply some force and twist the cooler until it finally popped off. It was a little scary when it finally broke free. Somewhere I read that if you fire up the pc for like 30 seconds, it will heat up the stuck thermal paste and the cooler will pop off easier right after you shut it down but I didn't have to try that. Aside from that, after the new CPU and cooler were installed everything worked great. The bios updates did reset the RAM xmp profile settings, so don't forget to go into the bios and make sure your RAM is running at its full speed if you are using faster RAM. We had put two sticks of 8gb 3200Mhz ddr4 RAM in this system when we first got it (that's the fastest this motherboard can handle), so I just had to set the xmp profile for the RAM again in the bios and then everything was good. This has been a nice little project PC for my nephew to learn and play on and the Ryzen 5 5600 has really been a great fit. Thanks Microcenter!

You can spend days watching videos and reading reviews of the processor and it’s capabilities and I would assume if you are one of those people you won’t be here reading what this simpleton has to say about this processor. I intentionally purchased this version as a nice performer, specifically to stay within my build budget and also maximize what computing power I could get out of this build. The balance in speed, cores, and features of the processor were ideal for my use case which is 1080 to 2K gaming, video editing and creation, and business needs. The processor performs beautifully for what I need. Could I have more? I find that this processor is one of the best values for the money and has been a solid performer. I’m absolutely thrilled. The bonus of you are trying to further pinch pennies is the included cooler. While I did not use the included cooler, I cannot say how it performed but it does appear to be built well and would likely do a good job especially for the price depending on what you are asking of the processor. You can always upgrade coolers at a later date if you wish.

It's seriously a budget beast. Much like its predecessors, all of the non-x Ryzen 5s seem to be much better value overall. I upgraded from a 2600, and the difference was insane. Even compared to the 3600, this bad boy will improve overall averages considerably as well as 0.1%/1% lows to provide a very smooth gaming experience. I have mine paired with a 3060ti and play at a mix of 1080p/1440p on a 27" 144hz 1440p monitor. For its price you really can't go wrong, and at stock speeds it will not exceed 75-80w. Which makes it fairly easy to keep cool (mine never goes beyond 65c using a Wraith Prism cooler), and it was a drop in replacement for my b450 tomahawk. I'm currently using 16gb 3200mhz CL16 ram (OC'ed to 3466mhz) and even then it has very minimal memory latency compared to previous generations. Although if I'm being honest, 16gb is beginning to fall behind a bit (when playing the 2018 GoW PC port @ 1440p it'll regularly push memory utilization to 12-13gb total), so I will likely be upgrading to 32gb @ 3600mhz soon.
