First off, B&H is awesome. I've literally spent a fortune here over many years, so this bad review is in no way a reflection of B&H. AMD on the other hand does not apparently honor warranties.I bought a 5950X a couple weeks ago and for the first week the processor worked great. Then I ran a Cinebench benchmark test and the CPU died and now it fails POST and won't boot.I filed a warranty claim with AMD and provided them all of the required documentation exactly as they requested. They claimed they couldn't see the attachments. So I sent it a couple different ways, including uploading the documents to a Google Drive folder that I shared a link to. At that point they just quit responding.At this point I don't have a lot of choice other than to buy an Intel 11900 ... MoreFirst off, B&H is awesome. I've waited for a bit for AMD to release new BIOS code to fix problems, but they haven't. This CPU, at least the one I received, does not reach the rated 4.9ghz Turbo speed, even under single threaded load, and this is is with a high end Gigabyte X570S Aorus Master motherboard and Corsair H150i liquid cooler. Under full load I'm lucky to see 4-4.1ghz, far lower than any reputable review site has shown as well. Manually overclocking allows me to reach 4.5ghz on one CCD and 4.6ghz on the second, but then it is pushing the capabilities of cooling under full load.If you are thinking about this processor to extend the life of your Socket AM4 motherboard, I would suggest thinking twice.

This was a major deciding factor when I was in the market for a new chip as with the relative infrequency that I find myself in the position to upgrade, I didn't want to come to a point in a year or two from now where I wanted some PCIE 4.0 capable storage or graphics but not able to use it due to lack of support.I plan on using this processor not only as a gaming processor, but also to support streaming and VMware capabilities, all of which it is capable of doing without breaking a sweat due to the insane number of cores and threads.I am running it with a Corsair H100i AIO cooler with fans in a push-pull configuration and have not seen it go above 64'C under full benchmark load.Paired with my 2080TI, I am not seeing anything that can come close to stressing my system.There is a downside to moving from Intel to AMD as I did with this build. I have been using Intel since the first gen core-i series (i7-860k) and only moved to AMD at this point because the performance ball was finally in the AMD court. But the downside to moving here was the loss of Intel RST raid. I understand that motherboard raid is a controversial feature, some love it, some think it's awful, but either way, I've been using it for years, and because I was moving from board-to-board that was all Intel, I didn't have to rebuild my storage array. Moving from Intel to AMD required me to rebuild my array (which also made me re-think using onboard raid, and indeed I've now moved to Microsoft Storage Spaces). Why am I even mentioning this? Intel's RST is dramatically *DRAMATICALLY* easier to configure and use than AMD's RaidXpert2. I ran into many issues with AMD RaidXpert2 including an inability to remove a drive from RAID to use a standalone without using a third party tool to blow away the partition information that RaidXpert2 places on it when you initialize the drive. I dont feel I should need to use a third party tool just to disable RAID on a drive. In addition, there were issues in the creation of the raid that resulted in some dataloss for me, which was unfortunate. I would suggest that unless you absolutely require it, avoid using AMD's RaidXpert2 onboard RAID.All in all, I would easily recommend this to anyone, provided they understand the strengths of this processor. This is not going to be the fastest processor for everyone. While it does excel in both games and productivity, if you are purely gaming this may not be the best choice. It is also not an excessively great overclocking chip as AMD has already pushed this package so close to the edge.

No need to reinstall Windows or jump through hoops. Just drop and go! Overall, the increased performance with production type tools that can utilize the cores has been fantastic and gaming has been as smooth as ever.If you have a use for those cores, definitely give the 5950X a look! With a good air cooler (Noctua) I haven't seen this CPU exceed 63C even at sustained full load. Total power consumption of my whole system was also only around 150W during a full load of all cores. The high core count isn't needed for most of my applications but I did max them out to 100% during a Lightroom Classic export task, which this CPU tore through making full use of parallelism. In general the system I built with this CPU is very responsive. The only question is whether you will use this many cores regularly and, if not, you might want to consider one of the other CPUs in this series.
Caveat: I've only had the processor installed and running for a week.The processor price was retail, the shipping was super quick, and I appreciate that B&H notified me when stock was available as promised and I was able to follow the prompts to order with no issues.Packaging was sufficient and the product box was in perfect shape upon arrival.Installation was easy, I hadn't used an AMD processor before but it simply drops in the slot just like an intel processor. The AIO cooler install was ok, I found it difficult to align perfectly before tightening the screws so it slid around a little bit which isn't ideal for the thermal paste, but not too much... I hope. But it was quick and easy technically. I haven't overclocked anything, and haven't done any real tough workload tasks yet... but so far along with the high end graphics card and storage the PC is insanely fast and snappy. So I think all is as it should be. Played the opening sequence of Star Wars Squadrons and performance was perfectly smooth, though that might be more due to the graphics card.Thanks AMD for the great product, and B&H for the great experience. This was the initial tuning I did after installing. Hopefully, I can get time to do a little more research and tweak the settings more aggressively. This was what I felt I could do conservatively with the knowledge of AMD Ryzen 9 tuning that I currently possess.Benchmark Scores/Temps/Clockspeeds:On Cinebench R23 I'm getting multicore scores of 30k and singlecore of ~1.6k. I have seen certain cores reach speeds of little over 4.9GHz. I don't recall all core full load speeds because the only time everything was fully loaded was when I did the initial setup/tuning. 88C Max Temp when all cores fully loaded.
