Ca fuse?
One previous reviewer talked about things going slower and losing FPS with more than 6 cores... that sounds like overheating buddy, no issues like that here...I feel AMD could have maybe 1-upped intel here by increasing the cache of this CPU. a couple more cores and pricing it the same as the 14900k, and that would probably make it as fast as it too.I guess the 9950X3D will be that...
I’m not a gamer, just a photographer and fine art printer. So, even with all the bad news and confusion re the Ryzen 9000 series, I decided to go ahead and replace my 7900 with a 9900X anyway. I have an MSI MPG B650i EDGE WiFi motherboard in an open case with an ID-Cooling SE-207-XT air cooler to which I have attached a second fan. The 7900 runs with DDR5-6000 memory, Game-Boost and the TDP elevated to 105W. It pulls 142W running Cinebench R23 with a high temperature of 79C for a multi-core score of 27550. When I replaced the 7900 with the 9900X, with the BIOS cleared except for EXPO, Cenibench R23 scored it at 32214 with a high temp of 81C. That’s a 17% improvement, much better than I expected. Think I’ll be keeping the 9900X and seeing how much I can wring out of it with a better cooler. I have no intention of playing the core parking game. Some good news re the 9000 series is overdue. I appreciate that gaming drives the technology, but other users make up a large part of the marketplace, so it seems wrong for gaming to influence the whole picture. Even though AMD fumbled the rollout, the 9900X is still a great CPU for non-gamers.
Building new pc, so i bought this processor. If you already own a ryzen 7000 series processor, then i do not see the need for upgrading; just wait until the next series. These 9000 series processors are exactly the same as the 7000 series, but just with crazy efficiency. No problems after few weeks usage.
I decided to build a new system, and I wanted the latest and greatest for my usage. I went from a Ryzen 7 5800X to this Ryzen 9 9900X, and I skipped the 7000 series altogether, as I was not interested in creating something new with 2 year old technology.Despite the poor launch press from AMD, and the community of reviewers who keep AMD honest, the Ryzen 9 9900X is superior to the Ryzen 9 7900X in ALL ways. I am happy to pay more for that. When the Ryzen 7 5800X first launched, I paid the same amount of money for it as I did the Ryzen 9 9900X. With inflation, the Ryzen 9 9900X was less expensive than my early adoption of the Ryzen 7 5800X many years ago. With inflation, the Ryzen 9 9900X was less expensive than my early adoption of the Ryzen 7 5800X many years ago. That is real progress and real value.Since I game in 4K, any high end processor will do the job, whether AMD or Intel, although I am not interested in an over-volted Intel processor crapping out on me. When I work with photo shop, or starting now with Video editing, this new processor just rips right through in no time. I also like the efficiency of this processor and it runs a lot cooler than the 7000 series. If you keep it stock, you can use air cooling, although I did invest in a great EK AIO system for this. If you want a little more boost, the PBO option will give you an additional kick in exchange for some additional watts of power draw and heat.I think with some time, AMD will continue it's AGESA updates, and Microsoft will support with modifying their scheduling, and the stats will continue to improve. This CPU may have launched a little before prime time, but I have no complaints here. This was the correct purchase for me. Your own needs may vary. If you are mostly a gamer in 1080P, go for that great Ryzen 7 7800X3D. It will serve you well, but do not expect it to edit video like this CPU can. Or, you can wait for the new X3D chips that AMD will most certainly launch. My thanks to B&H for having this in stock at a great price, and my thanks to AMD for upping their game. I am really happy putting this CPU to work for anything I throw at it efficiently, and for keeping it's cool in more ways than one. Bravo!
ok im coming from 7800x3d that's super fast 8 core cpu gaming king at mo , i ended up getting 9900x as i host the games we play so 8 cores were struggling , i have made shore game bar is turned off so no parking of cores , i can see its helping as not getting others in my eye saying the games lagging now , the single core is very good and multi very good to , when it comes to doing the shaders this is fast im in before everyone now 7800x3d was alot slower , so in this case another win for me , the temps are very good as well , bad parts now i know when it jumps over to other 6 cores so using more then 6 cores fps jumps down to 160ish from 210 i know I'm greedy other then that its very good , hopefully they can fixit so we can use all 12 cores in games soon with out ... Moreok im coming from 7800x3d that's super fast 8 core cpu gaming king at mo , i ended up getting 9900x as i host the games we play so 8 cores were struggling , i have made shore game bar is turned off so no parking of cores , i can see its helping as not getting others in my eye saying the games lagging now , the single core is very good and multi very good to , when it comes to doing the shaders this is fast im in before everyone now 7800x3d was alot slower , so in this case another win for me , the temps are very good as well , bad parts now i know when it jumps over to other 6 cores so using more then 6 cores fps jumps down to 160ish from 210 i know I'm greedy other then that its very good , hopefully they can fixit so we can use all 12 cores in games soon with out a problem
