Amplifier FiiO BTR5 2021

The FiiO BTR5 2021 offers two usage options. You can use it as a Bluetooth amplifier to turn your wired headphones into wireless ones. Simply plug your headphones into the FiiO BTR5 2021 and pair it via Bluetooth with your smartphone, tablet, or laptop to enjoy your music in excellent, lossless quality and full bandwidth. Alternatively, you can use the BTR5 2021 wired through its USB-C port as a high-quality USB DAC for a noticeable sound improvement for your smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Two integrated ES9219C DAC chips ensure flawless, detailed playback. The BTR5 2021 features both a standard 3.5 mm jack and a balanced 2.5 mm jack. In balanced audio mode, each channel is driven separately with its own DAC and amplifier, achieving a particularly pure sound with harmonious balance and finesse. You can also connect the BTR5 2021 to your car radio via the 3.5 mm jack to play music in high-resolution quality from your favorite Bluetooth-enabled devices and make calls. Functions such as skipping tracks, adjusting volume, play/pause, and managing calls can be controlled directly through the physical buttons on the BTR5 2021. The built-in battery offers a runtime of up to 9 hours and can be quickly recharged within 1.5 hours. Included in the package are a transparent protective case with a detachable clip and all the cables you need to connect your devices.

As a USB DAC, it supports up to 384kHz sample rates at 32 bits, but there’s a caveat on that. There’s not one universal way that all Android devices interact with external DACs, so not every phone will just automatically hand off decoding to a USB DAC, and plenty will just opt to use their internal DAC. This isn’t the fault of FiiO, it’s just a weird eccentricity with Android right now. With the right phone, music on the FiiO BTR5 sounds flawless.I've tested the SACD REMASTERED (DSD64,DSD128,DSD256,DSD352.2) all well supported and played with out hastle.NOTE: DON'T USE BLUETOOTH LDAC IN UAPP , CUZ IT USES ANDROID DRIVER NOT A HIRES DRIVER.

In between I got the Shanling UA3, which are really good, but I did not like the velvet sound so much. It was not that enjoyable imo. Then comes the BTR5. Immediately I could feel the wide stage with Ara iems and very good separation. Could listen to each instruments clearly and not just a mono toned music. Love these. Almost want to get the lethereatte cover but it does not has a clip, so will pass. These are cheapest here in HFZ. So thanks guys for amazing offerings.

Little footprint but premium build quality
1 December 2022

This DAC has a very manageable foot print even if you consider it with the clip. Battery life is so-so, i have been using it with 3.5 jack and Moondrop aria as my headphone. The backup seems to be around 6-7 hours with 40-50% volume levels and LDAC as codec. As for the sound, you get what you pay for. Overall sound is a bit on thin side lacking weight to notes in Bluetooth mode. USB mode doesn't change the sound signature much. Clarity is decent for the price segment, i liked my UA3 better than this DAC for clarity. For on the go use, BTR5 has adequate sonic fidelity. Overall, i can't say I am impressed by sound, so knocking off 1 star. If wit sounded any better in my testing and A-B comparison with other DACs, i will update the review later.

Nifty addition to my collection

The FiiO - BTR5 2021 does exactly what it claims. It works great with my Beyerdynamic - DT 700 PRO X. I have a Pixel 7, which does not have a 3.5mm audio jack, so I use the BTR5 as an adapter directly. The Bluetooth connectivity is solid as well - LDAC was a breeze :)The tiny LED screen is helpful, but of course the menus are a little difficult to navigate. The device has a bit of weight (owing to the battery), so when you're connecting it to your smartphone via the USB-C port, it sits a little awkwardly, dangling precariously from your pocket. Another thing that I discovered is that the USB cable provided with the BTR5 is unidirectional. There are small arrows on the cable to help guide you.The output from this tiny device is amazing, but I do wish the navigation was a bit more user-friendly. No major complaints though. A great option at this price point!

Absolutely amazing nugget! After hearing about this stout DAC/AMP online, and finding a bargain deal on my first audiophile headphones (Senheiser HD650's) I figured I'd give this a go, as I didn't have a good DAC or amp. And honestly, I'm blown away. This nugget (which is WAY smaller than I thought it'd be!) Sounds outstanding with anything you plug into it, and even sounds great with my HD650. I'm just waiting on my balance cable to come from the US so I can test the balanced output, but I imagine it'll be just as outstanding as the rest of it.AND DID I MENTION. NOT ONLY IS IT A GREAT USB DAC/AMP. ITS ALSO BLUETOOTH. Overall Good convenience adac

I got this along with sen hd650. I knew it would barely drive my 650's but I really wanted that bluetooth lol. It's balance jack provides more power than regular 3.5mm jack. My 650s definitely sounds better with btr5 than just directly connecting to my laptop's jack.I was very excited to drive my 650s via bluetooth. It surely drives it but the battery life sucks a** lol. In excitement I completely forgot about battery life. 650s are 300 ohm and btr5 would survive at max an hour when driving at 80% max volume possible.Overall good product if you want bluetooth functionality.

Stellar portable dac/amp but not perfect as a bluetooth call reciever
22 September 2022

Most of us take zoom calls or google meet, btr5 works the way it should there, no problems. But with android phones, on normal or whatsapp calls, call volume is very low. This issue is still persistant from 2020. I have two btr5 2021, one purchased in 2021 and one just now, both have very low volume for calls. It works great on google meet though, so I'm guessing, its a software problem that will never be fixed. If you look for only audio quality on bluetooth, its okayish, as usb dac its acceptably good (Though not even close to something like hip dac or that fiio dacamp of similar price)My fiio fh3 gets acceptably loud on calls as they have low impedence, high sensitivity of 114db, otherwise any other iem of high impedance would not be much audible while taking ... MoreMost of us take zoom calls or google meet, btr5 works the way it should there, no problems. For reference, my sennheiser hd598cs and hd660s can't be used for calls but are otherwise loud for music listening on btr5.

The transition from an average music lover to an entry level audiophile is now complete
25 December 2022

What can I say? I am so damn glad that I decided to buy these instead of partying on new year's.Paired this with the Sony MDR 7506 and it immediately transported me to the place where I always wanted headphones to take me.The ANC is perfect, neither too overpowering nor too subdued. The beats, absolutely crystal clear. You will be able to hear the thump where you are supposed to and that too without any crackling or distortion. The mids are also very well balanced and so are the lows. The vocals sound as if I am listening to them in the studios. And the best part is that this doubles up as a Bluetooth adapter to receive calls. All in all, a worthy buy for 6k and is the perfect tool for those who want to transition from being average listeners to audiophiles.

If you have a desktop dac/ don't use hi res music /don't require power to drive your iem or headphones this definitely becomes a very costly thing to buy. With phones loosing 3.5 mm jacks this category of product is bound to grow however a dongle dac should suffice for most users. Also apple uses aac which is not a hi res bluetooth codec making using it as bluetooth dac for iphones a moot point. But for those that own powerhungry wired headphones or iEMs and would like to walk around the house/town as you enjoy your music this is a godsend.HPZ thank you getting this amazing product to us in India, I was getting tired of checking the fiio site everyday :)
