An essential accessory for small laptops with few USB ports

This arrived very quickly from Amazon but It did not work as expected. I contacted Anker directly for help and they responded immediately with ideas to try to resolve the problem. Nothing they suggested would make it work properly so they very quickly sent me a replacement, which works perfectly. I was very impressed with the service from Amazon, and especially from Anker, who could not have been more helpful. The hub is compact, light, and very fast in operation. The only criticism I have is that the space between the sockets should have been wider as it is impossible to fit some of the wider USB sticks together. This is also a problem the USB stick manufacturers should address as there is no need for them to be so wide. The slimmer the better.

Better for a laptop than a desktop

why would I rate camera quality for a usb hub review?Anyway, the hub is very thin and light. i would have preferred in to be heavier sou will probably weigh it down and put some rubber feet on it. As a product to stick in a laptop bag it might be spot on but I needed something to avoid having to switch data cables between 4 endpoints and so this seemed to fit the bill. Since I would not be changing cables often, none of the above are a real issue.A longer cable would be better for a desktop product but I had extensions. I havent had an issue with power but all endpoints are self powered. i just need to remember not to try to charge from it.not as solid feeling as my other Anker products but probably better as a laptop hub.

Delivers where another failed - no more connection drops with MS SP6
1 June 2020

This hub was recommended to me on the basis that the multiple disconnections and re-connections I was experiencing using a Microsoft Surface-Pro 6 was due to my using the rubbish hub supplied by my employer. I'm glad I made this purchase because everything now works like a dream (albeit something of a slow dream still) . On first boot up this morning the SP identified and named my MS keyboard down to make and model and likewise the mouse - which was a promising sign. After that no problems. Will it do more than just a mouse and keyboard? I've no idea at present and have enough USB ports on my PC not to need to find out. How it works for me is I plug a USB extension lead from the SP to the hub for work and then in the evening swap that extension lead for one plugged ... MoreThis hub was recommended to me on the basis that the multiple disconnections and re-connections I was experiencing using a Microsoft Surface-Pro 6 was due to my using the rubbish hub supplied by my employer. Dependable Port Saver
30 September 2022

If you, like me, have discovered your old spinning disk hard drives offer data transfer at a fraction of the speed USB 3 is capable of, then get one of these and run them all simultaneously through one port on your computer and use the others for something else.I had one of these Anker hubs provided at work on two separate, several month long contracts where more ports were needed for charging devices, attaching printers and plugging in drives before I bought one for myself.Buying direct from Anker was simple, with dispatch and delivery within a couple of days and I'm happy I no longer have to blindly reach behind my computer to plug in a USB cable.

Good performing portable USB hub

High-power SuperSpeed (USB 3.0) stand alone hubs are rated at 900mAThe Anker hub is correctly rated and performs consistently and reliably well. See the photo for the power rating, keyboard and mouse plugged in, and charging an external battery pack, the hub is delivering the expected power of around 1ATo avoid misunderstanding wired USB keyboards usually draw less than 50mA a similar for a wired USB mouse. In my case both draw about 50ma in total.Keep in mind this is a non powered hub, and connecting an external hard drive that requires power should be connected to a dedicated socket, not a hub.Worth noting my external battery will charge at much higher than 1A using a dedicated power supply, the Anker hub charges at the exact same rate I would expect from a ... MoreHigh-power SuperSpeed (USB 3.0) stand alone hubs are rated at 900mAThe Anker hub is correctly rated and performs consistently and reliably well. Just the best service I have ever encountered
4 October 2020

I have bought a few items from Anker and so had no hesitation in buying this device. It is really compact and neat and works a treat for my needs as well as being good value for money. After a few weeks I started having intermittent problems with it disconnecting devices so I contacted Anker. They asked me to undertake a few tests and when these didn't fix the problem they sent out a brand new hub free of charge! The customer service team were amazingly polite and efficient. The new one works perfectly and I have had no problems after several weeks of heavy use. I would commend Anker to anyone- high quality goods and you can buy with complete confidence that if anything goes wrong they will fix it.Essentially, this a great little hub from a reassuringly high ... MoreI have bought a few items from Anker and so had no hesitation in buying this device. PS5 issues
2 February 2021

Everyone was claiming this worked great for a playstation 5, that was not really the case for me. I wanted to avoid using the front usb port so I bought this for the back to plug in things like charging cables and pulse 3d dongle and whatever else, the other back port to be used for my external hard drive. My PS5 is in my living room and I keep the setup clean for my wife. I immediately had issues with my pulse 3d headset, if I turned my head the sound would cut out, also if I put my hand over the left ear like when adjusting them. I understand it's a large area but with dongle plugged directly into the PS5 I can walk all the way into kitchen and literally anywhere else on the bottom floor and loose no sound at all, it's an open floor plan. It's still a great hub ... MoreEveryone was claiming this worked great for a playstation 5, that was not really the case for me. Smooth, fast, easy, low cost way to get addition USB ports.
24 March 2021

It is so useful that I forgot I even had it, yet everything works smooth and fine. Newer laptops seem to leave out things like mouses, DVD drives and whathaveyou, so it is now necessary to "install" external ones. But without a series of USB plug-ins this becomes impossible. Enter the USB hub and you're instantly all set to do that. There are thankfully no drivers to download, no disk to run, etc, before using it, it is just insert it and off you go! I highly recommend this to anyone with a newer laptop, or anyone who needs some extra ports. There was no problem that I saw about the speed of this unit either. I do not think you can go wrong with this. Have a great day.

Well priced
23 January 2021

Package arrived promptly and pleasantly surprised that majority of packaging (with the exception of small protective sleeve) is all cardboard and recyclable. Instructions provided were clear & concise and provided links + telephone numbers for 18 month limited warranty and Lifetime technical support. The hub itself is very lightweight but seems reasonably sturdy with both the USB Plug & the 4 sockets providing a snug fit to all peripherals I've used with it; the cable is a good length (57cm) & also a good thickness so I don't expect to see any issue with wire fatigue causing the wiring to break. Data Transfer speeds and device connectivity have so far (a week of daily use) been excellent with no issues experienced.
