Was hoping this would replace using my LED cinema display as a USB hub, which would have enabled my external hard drives to operate at USB 3.0 speeds instead of USB 2.0 speeds. Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to work well with the USB-C adapter I’m using for my LED cinema display to my M2 macbook air. Given the black friday discount, it was worth the price to test it out.

I like that this device literally plugs into the side of my MacBook pro. Nice color match also. As a photographer, I really appreciate the SD card slot, although there is already a built in SD card slot on the other side of my MacBook pro (meaning I don't really need to SD slots at the same time). My only minor complaint is that the device plugs into two USB-C slots on the MacBook, but in turn only gives you two USB-C slots. With all the devices going to USB-C, I would have loved to at least gain one additional USB-C on the side.

Original review: HDMI doesn't work and creates purple tint on external display – yes it's the hub. I tried different HDMI cables, messing with settings and troubleshooting. I'd avoid this hub and find something that actually works. I feel like I'm always having to send stuff back … this is so annoying.Edit: So after some troubleshooting, I can confirm that there is a simple fix for this. Figured out by pure accident. Go to your monitor settings and your Color Adjust settings. I had to switch from RGB to YUV – and that seems to have simply fixed the problem. Anker offered my a full refund for this review, and I appreciate that. But, this has been solved, the product works perfectly. Can recommend.

This addition is the perfect unit for my Mac! I use all the ports. I got a 50" 4k TV to use as an external monitor and the HDMI port on this unit supports the resolution beautifully. It also hs standard USB ports so all my Flash Drives can be used too. I just leave it in all the time. I put a small piece of tape on the front and the back, so it doesn't come out and is stays in all the time so I don't lose it. I am very happy with it .
Really impressed with the quality of this little gadget. Constructed of metal and has a nice weight to it.Worked instantly and does what it says on the tin.My only advice is that the SD (large) card reader is upside-down. So if you put your card in the right way up it doesn’t do anything. Turn the card upside-down (ie gold teeth facing upwards) and the reader reads it straight awayLove this item. It will be absolutely invaluable to any MacBook owner (2020 M1)
Recommended by my brother and made for a much nice addition to my MacBook Air. Instead of another hub that used a cord, the Anker Hub streamlines the additional ports it provides. Includes USB-C charging port HDMI port, 2 USB ports, USB-C input and both SD and micro SD slots. Recommended if you own MacBooks.
Having just purchased a Mac book, I wanted to move specific information, photos and files across from my lap top. The Anker 547 helped me do exactly what I wanted. It looks good, is very comprehensive in the number of connections it offers and fits the Mac book perfectly. Definitely recommended.
Well made device, fairly compact size. The microSD and the SD slot are independent of each other, so you can move data from one card to another without having to use the internal hard drive as an intermediary. Performance is decent as well, we're talking up to 70-80 MB/s with typical high performance SD cards. It does also seem to work with phones, at least to some extent. I've only tried pass-through charging and connecting an USB drive though. My phone is a rather basic Android model that only supports USB 2.0 via USB-C, so not a massive surprise that video output is unsupported.Overall a very decent hub for frequent travellers who want to stay productive and, say, manage their photos and data on the go.
This device actually works. I am able to charge my computer as well when I have this device hooked up. It does not take up much space, at max an inch off from the laptop itself but worth it to have an additional monitor hooked up for school work. It's sleek and compact. I'm glad I bought this. The other option was one made by Apple and that was much more expensive for the same use.
Plugs in very snugly to fit against the computer body and has more than enough plugs and options to cover just about anything you want. It also leaves the dedicated charging port open if you want to use that. I just use a USB C and it charges plenty fast. It is very well built and sturdy just like all Anker products and easily stores inside most small bags or cases.
