Qi chargers have been around long enough to where I thought that one cannot still buy one that charges so slowly that it is pointless, but these ones are just that - another useless piece of hardware. And I bought two of them!And just in case someone is about the blame the actual power supply - I tried literally 7 different power supplies, all quality ones, all with enough power, and no, I did not try to charge though the case. It does charge, but try keeping the screen on, and it'll actually lose power. This was with Google Pixel 5.

I use this charger to charge my iPhone XR while sitting at my desk working. I don't have a battery issue but I like to keep a full charge as much as possible and I wanted a stand to have on my desk so that I can see my caller ID and answer calls with a quick swipe without having to pickup my phone. Charging is quick and the charger / stand doesn't take up much real estate on my desk. I work in the web services industry so I also use my phone to proof and vett mobile versions of website pages. I do note that while the phone is on the charger, it doesn't seem to function quite as well as when I remove it from the charger. Also the charger that I was using has the ability to flip upward to angle the phone toward me to allow me to see the screen without having to pick up the phone when someone texts me or calls me, but that flip up pad is small and would not cover much more than 60% of the back of the phone. Also the lip to hold the bottom of the phone was thin and sometimes the phone will fall past the lip lifting the phone back off the charging pad and then breaking the charging cycle. The other issue that I had was I use a CPAP machine and it has happen where the hose from the machine has knocked the phone off the charger and as a result, a phone not charged the next morning.SO I decided to try this wireless charger and found it to be MUCH better than the older one that I used. It has a higher back plate than my older charger and my phone sits in this charger WAY better and much more securely that the old charger that I have. The induction coils inside provide a wider and stronger charging field to allow my phone to take a charge even if I do not place the phone on it directly centered. I also found it to be protective case friendly with my Otterbox case whereas the other charger did not like it. I would even venture that this charger also charges my phone faster than the previous one that I have. This charger has a taller back plate to make better coverage of my phone back and the lip to hold the phone is about 30% wider than my old charger making a more secured mounting of my phone onto this charger.Build quality is fairly good with it being of plastic composite construction and making it light in weight. The foot that it stands on is pretty solid and makes for a well balance stance with a heavy smart phone like the Samsung Galaxy's or their Note's, and some of the latest iPhones etc. etc. And lastly the charging light is VERY visible even in the dark of the night to make quick reference of the charging cycle of your phone but not too bright to be an annoyance while you try to fall asleep. (At least for me I don't find it annoyingly bright.)Portability is a little lacking whereas this charger does not fold down to pack away into a pocket or a luggage compartment as you travel so you would need to place it into the main section of a bag with some room.Price is very reasonable for something that is 21 century technology.And the EASE of Use is pretty much set the phone on it and forget it. Can not be any simpler.Only one con that I can say but it is not by any means a deal breaker for me that is. This charger did not come with a power supply. Only the cable to plug into a power source. In order for you to get the full potential of this charger, make sure that the power supply you use or purchase along with this charger, puts out 2.0 amps or greater to supply this charger with enough power to do its job. Do not use cheep $1.00 store specials to power this. You will most likely get undesirable results.Final thoughts: I would recommend this charger to anyone who wants an ease of use, good quality and strong charger for your expensive, state of the art, phone.

I searched for a lot of cases trying to find the most minimal one I could get that would still protect it, and the one I bought works with this setup.You can see in the pics how much space there is...I'm honestly shocked that it works. Once it establishes a connection, then then the placement doesn't seem to matter much, as long as it's sitting on the little resting spot. if it shifts a little when you let go, it holds the connection every time for me. I think the pressing is just compressing the pop socket all the way, which closes the distance enough for it to make the connection.*Note: I use the cheapest all plastic pop socket that they sell. I'm quite certain this will not work if you use one of the metal ones*. I know they also now sell one with like a removable plate or something for wireless charging, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the convenience for me, so I definitely wanted to find a solution for this setup I have now. The stock wireless charger that comes with the Samsung Note 8 doesn't work very well with a thick protective case, such as the Otterbox Defender. I can't use the tilt function, and even while flat I have to get the phone perfectly lined up to charge. Despite this workaround, the larger case dimensions usually place the phone just outside of the charging coil area on most tilt chargers that I've tried. MoreThe stock wireless charger that comes with the Samsung Note 8 doesn't work very well with a thick protective case, such as the Otterbox Defender. I can't use the tilt function, and even while flat I have to get the phone perfectly lined up to charge. Despite this workaround, the larger case dimensions usually place the phone just outside of the charging coil area on most tilt chargers that I've tried. I'm glad I did because it works great, and I would highly recommend it to others.Pros:- The footprint is smaller than other high-heel-shoe style chargers I've used in the past.- It accepts a standard USB cord for power, versus a nearly proprietary barrel jack with dedicated power supply for other styles.- The charging area is very forgiving; I don't have to be very precise about placement on the stand.- Horizontal and vertical orientation both work just as well.- The stand is sturdy, solid, and doesn't easily tip over.- It charges my Samsung Note 8 with an Otterbox Defender case just as fast as the OEM Samsung wireless charger.Cons:- It includes a short USB cable, but does not include a USB power supply. This wasn't an issue for me but is worth noting for others.- The USB jack / cable is USB-A-micro. I was a little surprised and would have expected a USB-C connector instead, since that's what the rest of the world is moving to and most of the supported phones use the USB-C connector. The OEM Samsung charger uses a USB-C cable and it would have been nice to be able to re-use that one.Bottom line: Really happy with the performance and would recommend to anyone with a larger phone and/or heavy duty protective case.
Be sure to take into account the length of the cable (which isn't much). If you want to place this on your desk somewhere, you may find your limited in the number of places you can set it due to the cord being pretty short. Doesn't seem practical to me but what do I know. Otherwise pretty good stand, my phone is always on a stand before so I figured I may as well have one that just keeps it charging when it's there.
